March Madness brackets is already an imperfect system which doesn't include the best 64 teams. But many are willing to concede in that in exchange for (more) equal opportunities. There's no way to completely eliminate bias. All situations are different and may require deeper analysis. But even if there's a magic formula, there's bias in the way that model was developed. For every team that "deserves" to be in the tournament and makes the cut, there's another team like Texas A&M that "deserves" to be there. So until we have a 365 team bracket, there's grey area and people who are going to be upset. All that said, there's always opportunity to improve the system.

From an operational standpoint, this was a much smoother year than the one prior. We only had one hiccup in our schedule (Ohio State), which actually worked out in our favor; however low stakes that game was in the first place. Fans returned to the arenas, hopeful for a strong performance from their teams. Husker fans, as usual, found ways to support their team even in some of the worst times in Nebraska basketball history. Last year taught us to appreciate the game we love, and that appreciation may have been one of the few things getting us through this season. There's some things to be hopeful about next season, and Hoiberg's team gave us a little glimpse of that at the end of this season. But beyond that, this team is going to have to learn how to take and maintain a lead for the full 40 minutes. Let's hope by next March, the announcers aren't talking about whether Iowa or Nebraska has the best corn; let's sow our way into a favorable seed. So the time has come. Here are your final results for the 2021-2022 Husker Hoops Central Challenge. Ken Pomeroy takes hold of his first honorary HHCC 1st place finish. Once he took control, he never let go of that position, even with a small turnaround performance by Nebraska at the very end. The outcome may have been different if we won our first round game in the Big Ten tournament, but c'est la vie. Yeah, understood. Agree it's not an ideal draw whatsoever. And get the frustration. I guess I had phased out the "well that sucks" phase and just exited we have a chance to play in mid-March. Valid point though. Edit: adding in that I was excited to not be in the South Carolina, UConn (or NC State), and Stanford brackets. Which was a win in-and-of-itself for me.

To add to that, it was the #7 ACC seeded Miami team who beat Louisville in the ACC tournament. Miami is seeded #8 in the NCAA tournament. Same as us. So, why not? Let's do it!

What does Louisville being number have to do with Nebraska being seeded to high. The matchup we would have to face if we win our first round. This whole "everyone is against us" defeatest attitude is self-inflicted. NCAA doesn't care about us one way or another.

It's less about Nebraska being put where they are, and more about Louisville still keeping that #1 seed with their tournament performance.
