Bad news...Ed Morrow Jr. Sidelined
Fullbacksympathy replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
No replacing Morrow, but this had better mean Jordy gets thrown into the fire. I'd like to see him get 20 minutes a night when Ed is gone. He's capable of 10pts, 10rbs if we just let him play a bit. -
It's a lot easier to teach someone to play defense than it is to teach someone to be a great scorer. He'll either add good defense to his game or he won't play. He has plenty of length and quickness to switch on the perimeter. He just needs to be coached up.

2018 PG/SG Keyshawn Embery

Watched some more from this kid. Good grief can he score the ball. Extreme kinesthetic intelligence--he's physically a step ahead of everyone on the court in sheer knowledge of his own ability. Absolutely no hesitation when he plays. If we get him, he's a program changer. -
He's 6'2". This video is very likely JV, and he was a freshman--which might make it even more impressive, honestly. I see he's averaging 11pts, 6rbs, and 8a per game as a sophomore PG on varsity, and considered the team's best player. The fact that his only highlight video comes from Hudl tells me we might've been in on him before anyone else. I think he ends up being a crazy good prospect.

Don't forget Akenten. 6'6" and was shooting .500 from 3 last time I checked. Super athletic too.
-
Very good front court that would've performed well in the B1G, I think, but the guard play wasn't great on that squad. It showed in the tournament.
-
I thought he was plenty quick. Not a great leaper, but he was putting defenders on skates with his ball handling. Got a chance to watch the whole thing tonight. His passing is nuts. This looks like a true diamond in the rough to me. He reminds me of Steve Nash in a lot of ways.
-
I think Akenten will get more minutes than Palmer. I'm basing that on film. I think the kid contributes immediately at the 2. He's easily Top 150 and will definitely hold his own with our young talent. The kid can ball and has stupid range/quick release. He's AWIII with handles and hops.

Very lenky player--super athletic like Roby but has very long strides. It's very difficult to stay with players like this defensively because they cover so much ground. NIce. -
Great passer. Good shooter. I like it.
-
Totally understandable, and he'll have to prove it. What I know is that he averaged 11pts and 6rbs a game as as true sophomore in a good conference, including a 32pt, 9rb game against Marquette, a 23pt, 8rb game against St. Johns, and a 21pt, 6rb game against #5 Duke that season. This is a kid who can be the best player on the court at times. He's right in line with our talented sophomore class. Guard skills at 6'9" and a decent shooter. He can get his own shot.
-
Holy crap you're right. Palmer - Akenten at the 2 is looking pretty lovely. The only ones I'm worried about are Gill and McVeigh... not sure where they end up in the rotation.
-
I think it'll be something like this: Watson -- new pg -- Gill Taylor -- Nana -- Gill Copeland -- Roby Jacobson -- Copeland -- Horne Morrow -- Jordy Copeland pretty much allows us to do anything we want at the 3-5 and could be a nightmare stretch 4 or 5 if we need a change in scenery. It's fantastic that TM can now put ALL of his energy into getting one point guard. I mean, holy hell that's going to be one amazing senior class with Morrow, Jacobson, Copeland, and Watson.
-
This is a 5 star recruit that, at times, lived up to it when healthy his sophomore year. He's literally capable of dropping 30 on some nights. Absolutely huge get. We now have the best front court in the league next season. Easily. And this kid can be a legitimate 3 at 6' freaking 9". Wow.

NorthWestern (12-4) vs. Nebraska (9-6) Game Thread

Played hard. Lost to a good team who was on fire. I'm wondering if Jack had big minutes because of Roby's health. I can't justify that many minutes and 1 friggin rebound. I just can't. Regardless, once again we keep our freshman--Jordy, Roby, and Horne--off the court for the vast majority of the game, and we lose. There's an obvious top 8 on our team. Painfully obvious. #freethefreshmen -

Awful foul in a 4 pt game with 50 seconds left. Ugh. -

5 pt game under 5 min. Good. We've put ourselves in a position to win despite not playing our best. Let's crank it up with the starters. -

Low post defense against B1G centers is precisely why Jordy was recruited. He's the exact remedy. I just don't get refusing to let the kid battle it out with the opposing C. Let Ed kill the PF for awhile. -

Please God play Jordy when Pardon is in. He has no range. -

I'm happy with his contribution tonight. We need defense and transition points against NW though. -

That's a big foul on Skelley.. he stretches our m2m defense. I'd put Jordy or Ed in now to neutralize the post. Not thrilled about Jack's minutes. -

MJ with another killer effort. Already 8pts, 9rbs.
