Yeah dirty hypocritical pretentious scumbag programs like Creighton should definitely not be our benchmark. We’re better than that.

1. Instill a unique system that establishes a clear cut identity and allows us to focus on specific, criteria-driven role players in recruiting while obviously making the exception for transcendent great ones. 2. Once #1 is in place (give it a year), improve incrementally each season as we fulfill our identity. 3. Eventually #2 evolves us into the next Iowa--a perennial NCAA-capable program.

We need a bonafide system that recruits a specific type of player at each spot. It needs to be unique and difficult to prepare for. Teams like Wisconsin, Virginia, Syracuse, etc typically can afford to have less than elite recruiting classes and make up for them with an identity/system in place that is effective and refined over the course of a season.

If we get Matta, we sell out for his tenure here. The press will inform the masses. He's a great coach. One National Title game, one Final 4, two Elite Eights, two Sweet Sixteens, four Round of 32s, two round of 64s, one NIT championship. That's basically every year he has coached D1. He's an absolute rock star, sure-bet hire if there ever was one at 51 years old. The only reason I put Lue ahead of him is because of Matta's health concerns. Other than that, he completely obliterates any other reasonable candidate.

I’ll concede it’s a legitimate question. I guess it’s just weird I recall him clarifying this on several occasions, He got the degree like 8 years ago which means he took maybe one year off after his playing career ended in ‘09, but I’m open to the idea I’m looking too far into that one. The in-game coaching and recruiting acumen being questioned though? After having played for Phil Jackson? Coaching alongside Doc and being the highest paid assistant in the league? Playing alongside Kobe, Shaq, and MJ? LeBron’s favorite coach? Hell, being cousins with Tatum? Recruits would line up for the guy.

Hoiberg was absolutely fantastic at ISU and also named the worst coach in the NBA. I’m worried his NBA stint has ruined his collegiate recruiting prowess. I hear you though. Lue was the highest paid assistant in the league before coaching LeBron and his rise was absolutely meteoric. He’s only 41ish years old. Crazy. He’s back working with Rivers at LAC where they are quietly having a very good season. Someone will hire him as a head coach next season.

Recruiting would be at the absolute bottom of my worries from Lebron’s favorite coach. I can understand skepticism of his coaching philosophies, but I just never hear anyone comment on that. No college experience is understandable to an extent, but levels AAU-NBA are becoming more and more similar in terms of systems.

I don’t usually presume these type of things, and I could be entirely off, but Lue has a better resume than Frost as both a player and coach in his respective sport. I keep reading between the lines—not sure if he’s a clever enough coach and has empty accomplishments (as if any championship coach didn’t have GREAT players), bogus rumors he doesn’t have a degree, etc. If, let’s say, Andy Markowski was a 10 year NBA champion player with heralded credentials as a coaching assistant, multiple finals appearances, and a ring, the worst cynic in me has to admit I think Husker nation would be screaming for him. Instead, we’re screaming for the closest thing possible—Hoiberg—whose resume is at best on par with Lue’s and probably not as good all things considered. I hope more of our fans open their eyes to this and start clamoring for the most prolific basketball name Nebraska can claim as *OUR OWN* and that’s Coach Lue. He’s my #1 with Matta a close 2nd, followed by Hoiberg. I think the cynicism is Lue is innocent enough, but I worry about the subconscious roots of the quick cynic.

Absolutely spot on. Sipple has been a lap dog for UNL forever now, and his take on what Miles said was either disingenuous, or he's a complete idiot. This was a cowardly attempt at being one of the first local writers to kick Miles while he's on his way down. It was a cowardly piece by a garbage writer, and a total opportunist attempt to take advantage of today's words-over-intent attitude. -
I wouldn't mind seeing someone with a unique system like Syracuse brought in who knows that 2-3 defense. Every time I watch Syracuse play I think that defense looks like such a pain in the ass to prepare for. Basically no other teams run it. It's like the triple option of basketball. I'd love to see that here.

Man... 3 wins and I bet we get the nod based on last year. That's including the BTT. By the metrics, we essentially have no bad losses and several notable wins. Defend home court. If the argument is strictly academic, I would guess we're going to have a decent one if we pick off a couple of ranked teams at home.

Yep. I thought Tanner played pretty well. Amir had a similar night. It helps us out a ton if our role players do the dirty work on defense, set good screens, etc. -

That was a good call. And both the half court and in bounds sets were solid. -

Not for timeout strategy being garbage. That’s how you get players out of slumps and refocus them offensively. -

Another double digit run before a timeout is called. Unbelievable. Horse shit coaching. -

If I’m TM, I’m telling Tom his job is now to be our go to scorer/volume shooter. He is literally the ONLY one who can actually shoot the basketball well. Also, Thor should get every second of Nana’s minutes.
