I wonder how the refs would take it if we came out and warmed up in full pads? -

One of the greatest moments I have ever watched in sports. Comparable to KIrk Gibson's HR or Bird coming back out of the locker room. An epic act of courage. Hope JG isn't hurt that bad! -

Brice brings quite a lot to the team but, IMO, there is a mindset that JPJ brought that Brice doesn't have. If Brice had what JPJ had we would not have gone 10 minutes without a basket at Rutgers because James would have willed himself to go get one and win us that game. Brice is not JPJ but he is a good - sometimes very good - player that I am glad is on our side. -

I get that you are trying to be kind to refs. That is commendable. But how do you NOT see things like 12 seconds in the lane? IMO that goes beyond incompetence to something else. -

I can only conclude you have only watched about 5 games. :) Otherwise... this isn't even in the top five this year. Creighton... Minnesota... Rutgers... Iowa... and Wisconsin were all worse. -

The rebounding edge was NOT what cost us the game. Our offensive shot making that cost us the game. Even if we just hit a couple over about a 10 minute span -- just one would have done it! -- we win that game. So frustrating since we have a fair number of players on the court who normally shoot the ball quite well. I do not understand what happened to us on offense but it seems to me THAT kind of drought should be a thing a coach should be able to help his team correct. Now here's my rant on RU getting so many offensive boards. Kudos to them for the effort and result. HOWEVER, there are rules that are supposed to be followed. One of them is a 3 second rule -- a rule violated regularly by #11. He absolutely camped out in the lane. On one occasion he was in the lane for 12 seconds -- 12!!!! Another rule is you are not supposed to be able to simply shove players out of the way and/or reach over backs to get the ball. Again, #11 did this OFTEN. I commend him for realizing the refs were not going to call ANY of this on him and on playing the game accordingly. He is a tough, physical presence that would be hard enough to play against if the rules were enforced. What I cannot understand is why referees let him. IMO, even if it were called consistently for players on both teams, this kind of officiating spoils the game of basketball. Surely it CAN'T be the referees don't see the infractions. They MUST be choosing to swallow their whistles and I don't like or understand it. -

Not a good game but we sure weren't helped by playing 3 games in 6 days. Especially when two were against WI and Purdue. No legs left. -

The ghosts of Husker basketball past will be working overtime against us. Getting over the hump with a B1G road win would be huge step for the rest of the season. I like our chances. -

I support your claim to provenance, Norm, but it looks like he might have used "air quotes." Not sure Turabian would say that was adequate but we live in a different world now. :) -
Is Hoiberg the coach of this team next year?
KZRider replied to huskerbill85's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
One of the reasons FH is doubted is the use of timeouts. Last night in our win over Purdue one of the reasons we won was that he called a timeout at the right time. Fairly early in the 2nd half, while the wheels of our wagon were wobbling, Coach Hoiberg called a TO and got things set right. So Kudos to our coach for this win as well! -

Just finished re-watching the game. There were SO MANY moments when we could have folded and lost this. And then a different player stepped up -- Mast, KT, Gary, CJ, Sam, Allick, Brice. In college hoops you come to expect that one or two players might take a game over and will a team to victory. But this was a WHOLE TEAM taking the game over. It was beautiful to watch. One of the best I've ever seen! So proud to be a Nebrasketball fan today! -

LOVED that Mast got to stand at mid court and dribble out our last possession! He deserved that honor. -
TECHNICALLY, I was alive for the win over KSU in 1958 just wasn't BORN until August. Does that count?

So many players contributed to this. So many! Does anyone know how to grab a shot of Mast with those wads stuck up his nose at the end of the game? Not very savvy about that but I absofreakinglutely LOVED it as symbolic of the effort of the whole team. -
