  1. If you want to dump on Yvan, please don’t use this thread to do it. He’s the only available player we have right now who can D up against Big Ten bigs. We need him. I am wondering what the coaches are doing to help him work on his shooting technique. If you have a chance, watch him shoot free throws. Most players (and by “most“ I mean everybody else) will cock the wrist of their shooting hand as they wind up for the shot. Yvan does not. It’s like a straight line from the back of his hand all the way down his forearm. This means he’s shooting primarily with the muscles of his tricep and shoulder. These are not the muscles where your fine motor touch comes from. If it were me, and I am not a D-1 basketball coach, nor do I play one on TV, I would have him practice shooting one-handed shots down close to the basket, flat-footed or tiptoes, where he focuses on getting his wrist cocked. I believe this may be the reason he gets rejected inside. If you don’t cock your wrist, there is no way to get the ball going upward without moving it more or less behind your head where it can be easily swatted by an opposing player. I’m curious what others have seen. Or what other thoughts people might have. I think Yvan is a good kid with a lot that he brings to the table, but he needs to get this shooting situation figured out. And I’m here to support him.
  2. In fairness to Lat, I do have some pretty sick post moves.
  3. I think Lat would be better as a stretch 4 if we had someone inside who could a) guard the post, b) rebound inside, and c) catch the dump-down and score. I'm not sure I'm entirely sold on this 4-guard or 5-out offense just yet.
  4. Fortunately, we do have guys coming off the bench who can score when they get the chance. Webster, for instance.
  5. Triple-double alert. Dalano with 12 pts, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.
  6. Is this the first time we’ve seen both Lat and Yvan in the game at the same time?
  7. Boy, I hate to say this, but it's true. He's getting blocked from behind by a guy standing flat on his feet.
  8. Wow. Interesting half. Played well in spurts on both ends; played poorly on both ends in spurts. Should not have been that close. Let's see what adjustments they'll make at half.
  9. Starting to look a little rough on both ends.
  10. Can someone stop the ball please? Let that guy dribble all the way down the floor for an uncontested layup. Brilliant!
  11. Looks like coach had some words after yesterday and the players are responding. This looks like some buy-in. Hopefully, that Nevada loss will pay some dividends down the road.

  13. I'm shocked, reading this thread, by some of the apparent lack of reading comprehension on this board. It seemed like one or two of you were being perhaps deliberately obtuse and missing @hugh42's point. It's not a complicated point. It's the Big Ten network. We're part of the Big Ten. We played a game that day. They showed highlights of every game but ours. I don't GAF what our record is or where our basketball program has been historically. It's not about needing to earn it or what have we done lately or putting up and shutting up. We shouldn't have to "win first" in order for our own conference network to acknowledge that we're a part of the conference.
  14. Who TF is acting like we're a Sweet 16 team all of a sudden? (Like how you put in the "we" part.)
  15. Different issue. You missed @hugh42's point.
  16. Speaking of, here's the video of the highlights of our game against Nevada that our conference's network chose to publish in it's highlight video. You'd have thought it was the Nevada Sports Network. But I guess until we make the Sweet 16, we should expect to get dissed by our own conference's sports network.
  17. That was not a very happy Hoiberg in the post-game press conference. I expect a team today that's going to run the offense a bit more faithfully.
  18. Gaaaaa! Can we get an inside game, please? I get the idea of drawing the opposing team's big out to the 3-point line where maybe they aren't so comfortable. And opening up driving lanes. But that only works if you're hitting shots. And to have a 2-point lead with under a minute to play and being outscored 5-0 to end the game is not how I would have drawn things up. I don't know if Walker or Andre give us an inside offensive presence or not, but neither Lat nor Yvan do.
  19. You can kinda tell when Teddy Allen is going to take a shot.
  20. Can we allocate some of our surplus points from yesterday to this game?
  21. Nope. Not as much as one would have hoped. Still has hands of stone.
