I loved the little Farmer girl from Hastings St C.  She was getting into the paint at will in the first half and could alternately score or dish.  Credit the Crofton coach with making an adjustment and doubling her every touch in the 2nd half.  She wasn't nearly as effective, but part of that was the Hastings St. C girls not using the pass and trying to dribble out of trouble.

Crofton's defensive pressure was tremendous and give them credit for that.  They also hit some clutch shots in both halves to keep the game in reach when Hastings went on a couple of runs.  But the most skilled player I saw was the little Farmer girl.  I think she has a bright future.  Fun to watch.  She needs some help, though.  The Skoch girl needs to become an offensive threat to relieve some pressure from Farmer.

The Class A game showed why we have different classes.  If you watched the D2 game earlier in the day and then watched the A game, it was like you weren't even watching the same event.  (Speaking of which, I would have pulled the PG from FCSH for the last 5 minutes of the game.  They needed someone on the floor making better decisions who could shoot FTs.  Almost cost them the championship.)  The level of Class A play was infinitely higher.  Whoever said Crofton was the best team, I beg to differ.  Westside would have dropped them like a 3 foot putt.  Higher level of play all the way around.

Speaking of Westside, that freshman was composed.  It was still a game when she started dropping FTs at the end.  If I counted correctly, she only missed one of her last 8 FTs in the closing minutes.  WHY did Norfolk wait so long to start fouling?  And why foul her?  She was darn near automatic.

Maddie Simon was Maddie Simon.  Norris wasn't going to beat Pius yesterday.  Pius was just too good.  But I agree with HB about Maddie needing to work on that jumper.  She has ++ athleticism, but I think she has potential to get a lot better.  She's nowhere near maxed out.

Sad not to see a Fremont team with Jessica Shepard playing in the title game.  Hope her recovery is going well.
