Girls played great D today! Utah could hardly set up their offense. Hailie held their post player and leading scorer to 6 pts (was averaging 25 thru two games). We forced them to settle for 18 three pt attempts, because our guards shut off all dribbling and penetration. While the Defense is close to being ready for B1G play..... Offense needs some work still. Overall we missed lots of easy layups and could've scored close to 80 pts. That being said, Connie has to be happy with both games this week. Main things to work on are continue to establish depth and get more consistency with our guards. GBR

National signing day for our class of 2015 is this Weds Nov 12th!

I was not at the first exhibition so I was glad I could see the new faces in action yesterday. The Huskers did not shoot very well especially from deep but we rebounded well against a team with a lot of size on the interior. Concordia had the size of a B1G squad but not the speed, which is where we took advantage. We got out on the fastbreak a bunch in the first half which was fun to see Tee push the ball up the floor and we had some good finishes around the basket on some nifty passes I thought Emily and Rachel looked good, both scoring in double digits. Great job on the boards for Emily who held her own against the Bears bigs. Brandi looks like she had a good offseason and is going to be a major contributor. I was most looking forward to seeing who who our first 4 off the bench would be and who is going to help us this year. I was really happy to see Allie & Natalie get good minutes and play well. It was nice to see Allie knock down some shots from the block and another on the baseline from about 12 feet. Sounds like Havers confidence is getting better each game. Natalie did some good things too and played 21 mins. She reminds me of Lindsay Moore out there. I think the next 2 off the bench were Anya and Kaylee. Both looked a little nervous with Kaylee getting 4 fouls in 8 minutes and air balling a 3. I think all Anyas points were free throws but she hung tough in there. I wasnt expecting her to shoot two 3 pointers but she did. I think Chandler is going to make her way into the top 8 player rotation when she is healthy. I believe she said she is not experiencing pain anymore in the foot and should be practicing soon. Lastly Connie said in her post game comments that she will probably use a bunch of different lineups this year depending on the opponent. Looking forward to two games this weekend and seeing some more action. GBR!

Yes Fastbreaker all 4 girls were present and sat next to each other. They all went into locker room after the game. It was great to see all them together! Reportedly, Rachel tripped and fell at home and has a small break in her hand. Not expecting to miss too much time from her senior year. Glad surgery went well for her

Jensen was not there ^

I'll be at the NIKE tournament of champions in Chicago in July. I'll be sure to watch all the future huskers and report back to you all

http://espn.go.com/high-school/girls-basketball/recruiting/school/_/id/158/class/2015 ESPNW also shows each girls rank by position in their class which I think is cool Jess- #1 Forward Lanie- #8 Wing Rachel- #10 Post Maddie- #16 guard

Didn't Simon play a lot of point at Pius? Connie likes tall points and guards who can play the 1-3. I haven't heard much on where they project Simon to play but I thought some point was mentioned; perhaps Row 6 can comment on this. This is correct. Connie wants tall, athletic guards who can run the floor and play the 1-3 positions. Any of the 3 guards can push the ball or run the secondary break offense. Norm Peterson the 2 & 3 spots are interchangeable on offense with the bodies we have coming in. To answer your question Maddie plays point guard on her summer AAU team also but was recruited to play wing for NU. She does not have the post game of an Emily Cady type

Good point

We have 4 commits now for 2015 with the addition of Blackburn and Page to go with Simon and Shepard. Blackburn obviously is a post, Shepard projects as a versatile power forward and Simon and L. Page are likely wings at the 2 or 3 spots. All 4 of them are at least 6 feet 2 which is exciting to have so many long and athletic girls. I think we'll be looking for a point guard, seems like things will be slim at PG after Theriot is gone. All I can think of is Romeo being the only backup. We will need more depth at PG to get the ball to the scorers.

That is hilarious Huskerchode. Truly an unforgettable hairstyle on that girl
-
No, I'm asking if Shepard could be in the 7 player rotationon UConn's team. Jess is good but I think we need to realize that Uconn probably has redshirts and bench players who could have played 20+ min per game for NU this year. Do we actually know if UConn or Geno has ever reached out to her?
-
I agree 100%. Depth was an issue this year, although we got great minutes and contribution from our top 7 players. After watching Texas A&M v Uconn I can tell you that we need to get deeper and stronger inside (BYU game comes to mind) to get to the next level.

Here's a fun question: Could the Kansas super state team beat the Nebraska super staters of Shepard, Ibis, Simon, Brown & White?
-
Dan Lesoing is a jerk. His blowups were getting old and he curses at his players. I think the parents finally had enough. I probably know too much on the subject but I'll leave it at that
-
I havent heard anything. Huskers are trying to make a deep tourney run & I doubt the coaches have even discussed it
-
One more thing: I had heard class of 2015 will be a 5 player class if we can get the right players. We will have room, there will be 1-2 transfers after the season..
-
I also was not impressed with the Kissingers. Sure they can shoot, but that's all they did was jack up 3 pointers! Live by the 3.. Die by the 3. Too much talent to not win Class C. Connie Yori did not give the older two sisters much recruiting attention either. I've been told that Ibis is leaning towards a west coast school but that was the rumor during a recruiting visit during Husker football season so things may have changed. She moved to NE from S Dakota as some of you know, so she isn't exactly a true Nebraskan. I would not be surprised if she looked elsewhere when she chooses a school. That being said I hope she picks Nebraska. It is clear that we are in good hands as far as guards go, however we can use some more depth in the post positions. Congrats Jess on Gatorade POY... Again. Keep it up!! , She is playing with a new club team this summer I believe the All Iowa Attack. Should be interesting to watch her keep improving. Tough break for Fremont at State as they didn't have enough weapons to surround Jess to win. Maddie scores the majority of her baskets on drives to the hoop Norm so I slightly disagree with you there. I agree her jumpshot has a low point of release but she already has a dribble drive in her bag of tricks. Now she just needs to perfect it and work on finishing the shot while playing through contact. She developed into an outside shooter this year and elevated her game to the next level. The future is very bright for the Lady Huskers
-
One thing worth noting: the winners from Minnesota & Indiana are both attending Iowa next year

Recruiting Corn-Husker-copia: Women Ink Top 20 Class
DocSadler replied to Row6Seat10's topic in Row 6 Seat 10
Yes they're pretty interchangeable. I think the great thing about Yori's offense is that it allows for versatile girls like Hooper and Cady to play nearly every spot on the floor as needed. I think that's why we are seeing them go after & signing tall guards who can handle the ball. Essentially anyone can bring the ball up and run a motion offense. My guess is Romeo at PG, Smith & Cincore play wing, Page plays the 4 (similar to Cady) and obviously Washintgton at post. I also see Shepard (2015) playing the 4. Exciting times ahead. GBR! -
Simon has barely scratched the surface of what she is capable of. She has always played her best ball in the summer against better competition. Expect a big jump from her sophomore year to this year. Pius should be solid and fun to watch

Also Hoopgurlz lists Lanie Page as a Wing on their site.
-
Great list Row 6. I have heard that Kaylee Page is projected as a 4 due to her foot speed being a little on the slow side. To be able to defend guards at this level you need to be quick... I think her ability to stretch the floor as a shooter will make her a good 4. That being said the younger Page is a little more versatile and I see her playing more as a wing not a post. All these players can score but I think defensive play is going to get these recruits on the floor early in their careers. I think they have 4 more to sign with Shepard leading the way as the 1st of 5 from this class. Who else wants 'N'?
-
Hoopgurlz lists Page's top 3: Louisville, NEBRASKA, & Texas Tech. This is the first I heard about Louisville, who made the Final 4 last year, being in her list of schools.
-
Lanie was also in Lincoln for the Husker elite camp. I believe this is when she received her offer also.. Unfortunately she was out all 3 days with injury. I don't follow the big 12 much anymore but I do know Lubbock is not where I would want to spend 4 years of college. I still say she comes to NU... "family first"
