At 6-5 in the Big Ten and No. 52 in the NET, Michigan is fighting with Nebraska, Michigan State and Penn State for positioning in the Big Ten standings with upcoming road games at No. 3 Iowa and No. 8 Ohio State along with a rematch against Michigan State in Ann Arbor. Defense was the key to Nebraska’s 62-43 win over Michigan three weeks ago in Lincoln. The Huskers won the possession game against the Wolverines with a plus-18 edge on the boards and a plus-three advantage in turnovers. NU also held Michigan to just 32.6 percent shooting. Both teams enter Tuesday’s game at 6-5 in the Big Ten, but the Wolverines are coming off an 80-75 win at Penn State on Saturday. In Big Ten play, Michigan is averaging 67 points and allowing 67.7 points per game. Michigan is hitting 41.6 percent from the field, including 33.7 percent from long range. The Wolverines have hit just 68.2 percent of their free throws. The normally tenacious rebounders have been beaten on the boards, 33.2-31.7. However, they do own a plus-3.3 turnover margin. GO BIG RED!!! LET'S BEAT MICHIGAN!!! (Again) (Good Vibes) -

Your Final Stats: Apologize for the delay - We had a total power outrage starting @ about 10 mins left in the second half, in the middle of our run, so I missed the ending of the game and OT. (winter storm don't ya know, power didn't come back on until after I had retired. ) Thankfully I could still listen to Kent & Jake on the cell phone. What an exciting game!!! Unhappily we came up just short at the end. I think we out-played them. At Worst we played the #14 team to a Draw in a full crowd @ Their Place! This Game is on the (willfuly) Refs. -

https://huskers.com/news/2024/02/3/big-red-rally-falls-short Final Stats (PDF) Nebraska rallied from a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit to cut the lead to one with multiple shots to win, but the Huskers were unable to complete the comeback in a 71-70 women's basketball loss to Rutgers on Saturday afternoon. For the game, Rutgers hit a blistering 59.6 percent (28-47) of its shots, including 7-of-15 threes (.467), while going 8-for-12 at the free throw line. The Scarlet Knights also won the rebounding battle, 36-30, against the Big Ten's best rebounding team. However, Nebraska's rebounding woes were primarily attributed to Rutgers' hot shooting and turnovers by the Scarlet Knights. The Huskers forced 23 turnovers and turned those mistakes into 25 points. Rutgers missed just 19 shots on the afternoon, while Nebraska missed 45, as the Huskers attempted 21 more field goals and eight more free throws than the Scarlet Knights.

A Hallmark of Amy Williams' Teams has been "Grit; No Quit" for as long as she has been here. She has never had the most talented, or athletic, Teams, but what they have lacked they have made up in Determination. However, I think the Talent Level may be starting to change. I don't think there is much chance of a coaching change next year, or the next couple of years, with the incoming talent, including coach Amy's daughter. Amy has had some success tapping the portal before, bringing in Shelley, Bella, but unhappily a couple of duds too. But that doesn't mean that coaching Can't, or Shouldn't, step it up to take better advantage of the talent. Right now I think we are a middle of the pack Big Ten Team, capable of beating any other B1G team (well maybe not Iowa). But, unless we upgrade our talent level; and ability to 'Coach 'em Up, I'm afraid we may be relegated to the bottom third of the B1G in the future after additions from the old Pac-12 conference.

Believe defense is playing well; seems like Rutgers just can't miss. They are out-shooting us in every category. We are getting a lot more shots in (i.e. winning the possession/steals battles; they are just not going in. Let's see the 2nd half. -
