I was more referring to the academic side of things, though. There are a bunch of players in Omaha over the next couple of years that have the talent, but not the grades.  Probably three of four kids at Central alone. UNO's the easiest of the three schools to get into.

Actually, the academic requirements for UNL and UNO are very similar....the only difference that makes UNO "easier" is they require only 3 (instead of 4) years of math in high school, the other core requirements for classes are the same.

So UNO is only marginally easier and a haven if you are looking to place a kid that has "Algebra, algebra II, geometry" BUT they avoided the "one additional unit that builds on knowledge and concepts learned in Algebra II" required by UNL that UNO lets you fill with one additional core requirement class.

Test score and high school ranking requirements for both schools are identical:

"Students applying for admission to either school must meet one of the following:

  • Rank in the upper one-half of their graduating high school class
  • ACT composite score of 20 or higher.
  • SAT score of 950 or higher**   **Total of Critical Reading and Math sections only."

That being said, I don't see UNO as a haven for lesser grades but rather for the kids that just miss the major conference recruit cut. These kids have been going to the Dakota schools, Colo St, etc. UNO will have the definite advantage of having Omaha to recruit to, as most kids will find the town more attractive than  the competing towns.
