  1. This is terrible. Time to scout NJIT.
  2. This is not good. We are not looking very good at the plate. Povich is getting hit. Need Povich to eat some innings.
  3. At least when we shock the college baseball world, we will get to face the lowest national seed!!
  4. Most likely wanted to have the storyline of student against teacher. South Bend is 140 miles further from Lincoln than Fayetville. Is it that much of a difference?
  5. Can we trade places with Michigan?
  6. Iowa didn't do themselves any favors losing 2 of 3 against Illinois and Northwestern down the stretch.
  7. Spencer ends the suspense.
  8. I was going off d1 projection.
  9. We are making things a little interesting. 2 seeing eye singles and a home run makes it 5 - 3.
  10. I hope we end up in the Spokane regional. I glanced at Gonzaga and Oregon State stats. Gonzaga has 2 good starters, not a great bullpen. Not much power at the plate, but a respectable average. Oregon State has a decent average, a little pop. Their pitching strength is their bullpen.
  11. Good game in the 2nd game. We lead 4 - 0 in the 8th. We get Perry going and Shay pitches like he did today, we can hang in most regionals. Don't want to face Arkansas though. Perry went from 1 to 2 to 3 innings in his starts.
  12. Congrats. I was hoping for 3 out of 4 best case scenario. Taking all 4 plus winning the title. No worries over this next weekend. Plus, we get to play our last series in front of fans welcoming their title. In regionals, I think we can hang with most teams offensively. I worry about the good teams not giving us extra outs. We have taken advantage of teams giving us extra outs. Our starters could be worrisome too. Our bullpen is good enough to also hang, but starters have to get us outs. We cannot overwork the bullpen. Having said all that, it'll be nice to compete in a regional again. Especially after 2019, being 1 out away from a regional final appearance.
  13. We are making up the Northwestern game? The announcers made it sound like it.
  14. Gunner with a sac fly and Hallmark homers. 7 - 0 good guys. Perry and Schreiber pitching well today. Good news for regionals.
  15. I guess it is only tougher in case of a tie. A tie would be the magic number of 1. However, Michigan plays 1 more game than us, so if we finish with a tie in the loss column, Michigan wins the conference.
  16. It's actually tougher than usual to figure out. Before it is the number of games remaining (4) and add 1, then you subtract the loss difference between the 1st place and the 2nd place (Nebr 11, Mich 14). Therefore, it would be 4 + 1 - 3 = 2.
  17. A win tomorrow and a Michigan loss we clinch.
  18. I thought that was a fly ball to center, but it kind of carried. Still, very big outing by Hroch. 3 wins is huge. Magic # down to 2.
  19. I don't think that's the case. I think they are swinging as hard as they can every time. With 2 strikes, it is worth cutting back and trying to make contact.
  20. Everitt ties it in the 9th!!
  21. We're back in it. 9 - 7 bad guys at stretch time.
  22. This is only the 8th game when we have committed 2 errors. We have yet to commit more than 2 in a game this year.
  23. It is one of my pet peeves to strike out. I blame analytics. A strike out is not just another out. For example Chick came up with Banjoff on 2nd. He strikes out. That's why I cringe when we strike out even with no one on base. IMO you should try not to strike out every at bat. That way it is 2nd nature when you need to make contact with a runner on 2nd and no outs, or runner on 3rd with 1 out.
  24. While we do strike out way too much, the OSU pitcher is tied for 3rd in the conference in strikeouts. Shay's outing wasn't horrible today. Hard luck 5th was his undoing. His last outing he gave up seeing eye singles in the 1st, but settled down afterwards.
  25. Shay with a hard luck bottom of the 5th. A single to lead off the inning, then a chopper over the head of Max goes for a double(would have probably been a double play at home), then Max boots a ball. Later, gets squeezed and the batter eventually gets a sac fly. Now, OSU leads 5 - 2 in the bottom of the 6th.
