A couple of 2027 offers Addison Medeck, Papillion-La Vista South, 6-3 Averaged 9.5 Points and 9 rebounds a game for Papio South as a freshman. Played on ETG 16 this summer. Just a quick scan of her Twitter she had been offered by South Dakota State and South Dakota. Maddie Vickery, Washburn Rural (Topeka, KS), 6-1 MO Phenom EYBL 15u (15u EYBL National Champions). Another quick Twitter scan, she has offers from other Big 10 schools Purdue, Michigan State, and Michigan. Others include Arkansas, Oklahoma, SMU, Harvard, and Yale. She has visited Iowa and Oklahoma State, not sure about offers.

Her Nike EYBL team, MW Premier, lost in the championship of the Nike Nationals yesterday to Cy Fair (TX) who has the top recruit Aaliyah Chavez (who had 30 points). Olivia had 15 points in the championship game and averaged 16 ppg in the tournament. She was third in the tournament in steals with 3 a game. Jacob Padilla had some comments on Twitter after watching the game.

Beatrice has a freshman to keep an eye on 5'8 Alijah Stabler. She didn't have a great game today vs. Elkhorn North - mainly cause Elkhorn North was really keying on her. She did end up with 13, had 12, and hit the game-winning free throws in their Norris game. She averaged 17 a game this year. This was my first time seeing her in person, I'd seen her on tape a couple of times this year, really gets to the basket and finishes well - especially for a freshman. Prince is so much fun to watch. So calm, even when she forces things it's so smooth. When things were getting tight, she'd take a ball screen to the left, have 2 people on her and nail a free throw line jumper with hands in her face. She probably had a couple more turnovers in this game than she usually does, but I still think the thing that separates her from others is her passing ability.

Elkhorn North leads Omaha Skutt 32-27 at halftime in the Class B State Championship Game. Britt has 15 (4/5 from 3) at the half. Peyton McCabe (jr Drake commit) leads Skutt with 12 Watch - https://nebraskapublicmedia.org/en/series-media/nsaa-state-basketball-championships-video/standalone-video-16485/girls-class-b-50020392/ One could argue these are the best two teams in the state this year regardless of class.

Whoops had this posted in the 2023... 2024 - Olivia Olson - Benilde Saint Margaret High (MN) #3 overall on the 2024 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings - Super 60 Some tough competition for her.

According to a tweet from an Elkhorn North assistant coach, UCONN had an assistant coach at the Elkhorn North/Elkhorn district game at Omaha Skutt last night.

Last stat update in the OWH (1/8 - 11 games) had her at 26 points 4.9 assists 112-179, .626 from the floor, 25-60, .417 from 3 37-43, .860 from the line. She gets a lot of her points off transition and turnovers, probably the most improved area is her three point shooting, that makes her extra dangerous. I still believe the best part of her game is her court awareness and passing. For a sophomore it is excellent and probably sets her apart from others when making national rankings. As a team they are 14-1, their loss was to undefeated Omaha Skutt 63-54 two weeks ago. Skutt is led by another sophomore 5'6 Peyton McCabe, sister of Fremont and Iowa recruit Taylor McCabe). Peyton was averaging 20 points a game in that last stat update. Here is one highlight video, for what it's worth, of Prince from Twitter (from the Skutt game) - if you search her name on Twitter you can find more.

She's a freshman this year, class of 2024. She plays on Coach Williams daughters AAU team. Her mom is the head coach at Elkhorn North. She was offered by Creighton earlier this summer.

A question that I have always wondered, what rules/guidelines do Division 1 coaches who have kids, have when it comes to watching their kids play and interacting with kids on their teams? So for example, Coach Williams has a daughter who's on an AAU team that played in Des Moines this weekend. With there being no recruiting now is she allowed to go to the games to watch as a parent? My assumption would be that, yes she can go watch her daughter play but what about contact with other players and/or their parents on her team? For sure there is nothing that could be considered recruiting allowed, but are there actual guidelines in how the coaches can interact with others associated with their child's team. This would be the same with Coach Hoiberg and his sons, who I'm assuming are playing for some team, though if I remember right it was mentioned when they first were coming that they would go back and play with their Chicago AAU team, that probably has changed with all that's going on. One other time I thought about this was when Coach Cook's daughter was at Pius. I'm sure it happens all the time all over the country, but just have never seen actual rules/guidelines.

I personally think that's where some of the best learning is, cause life isn't going to be easy. So if you're willing to go out there and put the work in day after day and stick it out, I think those kids are on their way to having good productive lives. This is an easy example, but ask the 3 or 4 seniors on the Gretna Boys Basketball team that didn't get to hardly play, if it was worth it?
-
You always are going to have kids play on 2 levels of teams (3 levels I agree is a problem), sometimes they don't get any playing time on 1, but they get more on the other. That's how you develop programs. But also it's still school, schools are out there to provide opportunities for kids whether they are the best kid or the worst kid. All over the state schools are dropping some of their lower teams cause of numbers, I find it sad mainly cause I think a lot of it has to do with, if I'm not on the top team why go through the stages. I just think there are other ways to find money for a shot clock then limiting opportunities.
-
Ya let's cut opportunities for kids to compete and be on teams so we can have a shot clock. That sounds like a good plan.

Jon Perone. Sounded like, at the press conference, he was planning on staying at Hastings College. Hope so.

There is an archive of one of Jess's games at http://www.highschoolcube.com/organizations/all-iowa-attack-girls-basketball-ames-iowa Looks like highschoolcube is going to be streaming a lot of the NIKE EYBL League that All Iowa Attack plays in. Here is a rundown from the Tournament. All Iowa Attack went 3-2. Lost to Georgia Pistols (62-45) and Fairfax Stars (52-43). Defeated Carolina Flames (71-63), Georgia Metros (67-32) and Miami Suns (60-53). The Miami game is the one linked above. The Georgia Pistols have Asia Durr the 2nd Ranked player in the Country. http://www.bluestarmedia.org/index.php/component/k2/item/782-nike-eybl-hampton More info on the Nike EYBL http://www.nikeeyb.com/page/show/1140570-girls-elite-youth-2014-
