I happened to catch the end of the USD-Stanford game replay this morning on Pac 12 Network as I was getting ready for work and it looks like Coach Smith's boys were in it until the end against the Cardinal.

 

Not sure just how good Stanford is this year, but I'll be interested in keeping an eye on USD this season.

 

"Our defense is really coming along," Coyotes' coach Craig Smith said. "Our guys executed the game plan very well on both ends of the floor. Our guys dug their feet in the sand, stood their ground and gave ourselves a chance."

Sekou Harris hit a 3-pointer and then made a free throw to cut Stanford's lead to 65-59 with 7:26 left in the contest. That would be as close as they would come.

When I read the title, it looked like Goyotes to me, which would make for an interesting mascot to say the least! Go Coach Smith & his Yote pack!

I went to a basketball game once at the Dakota Dome.  It was one of the most surreal experiences I have ever experienced.  Probably just a few hundred people in this GIANT arena with a little basketball court in the middle.  The teams looked like ants out on the floor.

 

It'll be great for them to finally be playing in a legit arena now.
