In my opinion, you’re not wrong. I don’t see how she’ll help either. I watched Kennadi play against Lincoln Southeast last year as a senior in high school. (Southwest’s most intense rivalry) Was Kennadi a good player? Sure, without question. Was she head and shoulders the most talented, dominant basketball player on the court that night? Nope. The whole time I watched her I thought “She just doesn’t look like a B1G-caliber recruit to me. Not the kind of athlete that NU needs to compete with the upper echelon of the conference, anyway” If we ask ourselves an honest question - would NU have recruited Kennadi to play BB if she wasn’t the head coach’s daughter, I believe the answer would be: highly unlikely. Yes, I realize that she’s on a SB scholarship so she’s not tying up a BB scholarship, so I guess it’s not as consequential of an issue.

Fair point. But what about Molly Ladwig from Skutt? Did Amy not think she was a B1G-caliber recruit? She scored 50 against Class A Omaha Central last month! You’d think we could’ve found a use for her on the team. But no, she’s going to Buffalo of all places to play college basketball. Y’all ever been to Buffalo in the winter? Snowfall there is measured in feet, not inches.

Couldn’t agree with this more. People who know me on this board are sick of hearing me indict Coach Amy for whiffing on Taylor McCabe so I won’t beat that dead horse. But missing out on the Millard West twins baffles me too. Why wouldn’t they want to come to NU and play with Britt Prince for 3 years?

Watching Nebraska high school girls basketball championship weekend just underscores to me what a disadvantage NU WBB is at in terms of in-state recruiting vs. other Big Ten schools. I can’t think of another state in Big Ten country that produces less Big Ten-level girls basketball recruits than Nebraska does. And yes, I get that we have a smaller population base than all those other states in our conference but we produce a lot of Division 1 high school volleyball recruits. I guess at the end of the day, girls volleyball is more deeply woven into the fabric of our state than girls basketball is or ever will be. Feels like any athletic girl in our state with any kind of height gravitates to VB over BB.

Illinois is a good team. No shame in losing to them on their home court.

I guess Maryland wanted to wear pink uniforms and if NU wore red away uniforms there wouldn’t be enough of a contrast?

Just tuned in to watch. Sorry if it was discussed already but why are NU wearing whites on the road?

Meh, at least we beat them in Iowa City. Which means we went .500 against Iowa. Which stands to reason since we are a middle of the pack conference team. And a middle of the pack conference team is all we ever will be under this head coach. And no, I’m not necessarily calling for Coach Amy to be fired. We play in a murderously tough conference. Middle of the pack in this conference doesn’t mean an unsuccessful program. But a few more losses like this one, and I may be singing a different tune!

She’s definitely a difference-maker. I’m impressed.

I can’t believe we’re only down 8 points. Feels like we should be down by over 15.

I predict NU settles in, finds its rhythm and makes a move in the 2nd. Without C Clark, Iowa is not a noticeably more talented team than Nebraska. They’re just not.

Yep! Boy, do we need to pick up a quick athletic lock-down defender who can guard the opponent’s best 2 guard or 3 guard one on one and keep them in check. Preferably a defender in the 5’11 to 6’2 range. I mean, is that asking too much?! Lol It’s not like there are 75 other D1 schools all looking for the exact same thing!

I have no idea but that would account for their level of play. They look pretty bad right now.
