REDZONEDAN Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Altman took over in 1994 and they made the tourney in 1999. Creighton's attendnace: 1994-95: 4,821 (Altman's first year) 1995-96: 4,625 1996-97: 4,853 1997-98: 4,941 1998-99: 5,193 (Made NCAA Tournament for first time since 91) 1999-00: 6,494 2000-01: 7,219 2001-02: 6,613 2002-03: 8,246 2003-04: 12,016 (first year in Qwest Center) (cap. 17,975) 2004-05: 11,208 2005-06: 13,901 2006-07: 15,333 Such incredible, knowledgeable fans. They've all been there through thick and thin the whole way. All 4,800 of them. That'd be, what, like 50% of the lower bowl at CenturyLink? If you want to add 1993-1994 to your list, they averaged 2,792 with the Nebraska game (2,362 w/o the NU game). I think a lot of the Omaha fans stopped going to the Nebraska games and started going to the Creighton games during the late 90's. Those are the fans that I don't want back. Quote
GoBigRed Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Husker Mike over at Corn Nation took some time today to address this issue it seems: Is Nebrasketball Becoming A Real Thing? - Corn Nation http://www.cornnation.com/2014/2/26/5446518/is-nebrasketball-becoming-a-real-thing "Would many Creighton fans jump on the Nebrasketball bandwagon? Not many I suspect. There certainly are a few fans of both programs who'll support both, and some "Jayskers" might switch back. The majority won't as long as Creighton basketball continues to enjoy the success they had in recent years; they've built their fan base up, and it won't disappear that fast. But still..." Their recent success very well could disappear that fast. It happened to Butler. Creighton's roster next year has them set up to be a middle of the pack Big East team at best. For a spoiled fanbase used to 1-2 finishes in conference standings, we'll see how they handle it. Quote
