  1. Fantastic start. Only gripe so far is our continued struggle w/ rebounding.
  2. What a lovely flood of memories that article brings up. Absolutely loved going to the Big 8 tournament at Kemper Arena. Great mix of crowds. Oh how the Big XII ruined it! I remember that weekend so, so fondly; Maybe not so vividly. My poor liver, God bless it, probably not so fondly. We really needed a win that first day to get off of the bubble. To do it against Billy Tubbs, with that d-bag Curry on their team who had taunted us at Devany that year, was a pleasure. Pike just lighting it up like a legend was awe inspiring. 'We can beat anyone with Pike,' was the feeling. I recall Donnie (Ice-T) Boyce giving the arrogant Jayhawk fans a scare on day one. Came so close to knocking them out. Oh those pitful Buffaloes! No CU fans EVER there. Ever! What would be the point really. Everyone wanted to play them on the first day. So funny sitting next to KU fans absolutely soiling themselves. We bumped into Kent Pavelka down at Westport. Boy were we happy to see him. I'm pretty sure we scared him. Only having tickets for day 1, since traditionally we always lost on day 1, we stumbled upon one of lifes simple pleasures, which was approaching fans decked out in losing teams garb and smugly asking them for their day 2 tickets, which they no longer needed. Reactions would range from, 'Go away prick' to 'I'll sell them for face' to 'I sure as hell don't need them, here'. The beatdown on Missouri in their backyard was surreal. Hated Jevon Crudup so much, but can't exactly recall why now. No Tigers or Jayhawks in the final meant tickets were unloading like nobodys buisness. Another great night at Westport. By the start of the OSU game, my liver could take no more. It was time for it to be over. The elation of winning was more than enough to provide relief. Never had I had such an enjoyable drive back from K.C.
  3. Sit down in the front already! I can't see!
  4. So no TV for this one, right? Only available on Big 10 digital network, correct? And if anyone knows, it that a subscription-only, online, streaming entity, or is it a channel that you pay extra for on TV? And one more question for the masses. Is there a way to stream the Pavelka/Radio feed to an android? Any particular apps?
  5. So disappointed. Thought this thread was going to be about Stan... Stan Cloudy Night at the PBA. Free Jheri Curl wigs to the first 3,000 in attendance. This could have been massive.
  6. I don't see it on the guide for BTN? Do you know when the replay is going to be shown?
  7. I like the way you think good sir! My initial impression was that the court feels very far away from the spectators and that the arena might not be condusive for a great basketball atmosphere. Note the word 'great'....I mean great as in Cameron, AFH, old Gallagher, really any place that has fans right on top of court. Probably not what those involved were aiming at, which is fair enough considering this is a multipurpose arena. Looking up and around at the considerable vastness of the arena, and then down at the display of very bad streetball before me, I can't help but feel afraid of what might become once the afterglow of the new digs wears off. This arena feels too big for our program. Only consistent, top 20 basketball will come close to keeping it full. Not only are we not there yet as a program, but we also have the disadvantage of having no rivals, along with unfamiliar and bland (IMO) foes. The seats are very close together. It will be horrible if sitting on the end when people are constantly coming in and out having to stand, sit, stand, sit. Might as well throw in a few kneels, a hymn, and coffee and rolls in the basement afterwards. Tim Miles was great. I couldn't hear about 60% of what he was saying due to the audio (and my poor, poor hearing?), but he was mostly hilarious, entertaining, self-effasive and would be a blast to play for I'd imagine. I think we hit a home run with him and I hope he stays for a long, long time. He sure seems like one of a kind. Anyways, that's my two cents....and my God, how I will miss Breaking Bad......sniffle.
