Mascot: Spartan
Shirt color not to wear: Green/Toga
Opposing player to watch: Draymond Green
Michigan State has a pretty deep squad but the one guy who is almost always on the floor is Green. Considering he's one of the best players in the BiG it seems like a pretty good strategy. Green is a triple threat...rebounding...passing...scoring..heck, the guy's last name is the school's color! The Huskers will most likely key on Green all night leaving the rest of his teammates deciding who is going to have a career night.
- Opposing player to watch: Keith Appling
Noted as one of the best defenders in the BiG, Appling will be shadowing Bo Spencer most of the night. Maybe this isn't the worst thing in the world as Bo can really be hit or miss and it might encourage someone else on the team to step up. It could also mean that a team that has trouble scoring is once again really going to have trouble scoring.
Here comes the Pain Train
Things were in fairly dire straits the last time that Sparty and the Huskers matched up on New Years Eve. The Huskers had lost Diaz and Talley while also blowing a couple of pre-conference games to go with every conference game. Not a whole lot has changed since then as Michigan St. is perched atop of the BiG while Nebraska is limping towards the end of the season in the basement.
This game isn't going to come down to whether or not Michigan State will beat Nebraska....they will as they've beaten every BiG team at home by double digits this year. The question becomes: How bad is this going to be? It's conceivable that the phrase "shot clock era" will be thrown around tomorrow given Sparty's suffocating defense and Nebraska's offensive ineptitude. Here is hoping that Tom Izzo makes the guys pancakes afterwards.
Prediction: Spartans 72 - Huskers 42
