Head Coach: Chris Collins
Location: Evansville, IL
Conference: B1G
Nickname: Wildcats

Mascot: Willie the Wildcat

Last time out: Lost to Minnesota
Line: Northwestern by 11
Typical Rotation Depth: 9

KenPom rank: 74

Other:

  • Northwestern roasted Nebraska in Lincoln by 24 in a game that wasn't as close as the score indicates. Boo Buie erupted for 27 points.
  • Fred Hoiberg was under the weather on Sunday/Monday with a non-covid/non-flu illness which means his voice is suspect.
  • At 437 points, Bryce McGowens is 9 points away from surpassing Dave Hoppen on the all-time freshman scoring record.

Player to watch: Pete Nance

Senior F/C Pete Nance has been on sort of a Roby type question to realize his goodness and has quite good this season.  The mobile 6'10" post can play either forward or center where he's a 3 level scorer and a rim protector

The Skinny:

Nebraska travels to Northwestern to face an underperforming Wildcat team that absolutely rolled Nebraska back in early February. At this point you can't really expect Nebraska's defense to show up so maybe the Huskers get lucky and Northwestern is ice cold. The Wildcats do have the type of foul-prone defense where Nebraska can supplement their offense with FTs.

At this point in the season it's more about trying to decide if Nebraska can keep up with point spread instead of whether or not they'll win.

Prediction: Northwestern 82 - Nebraska 75
