Very good article - Allen has had a hard road without question, and some of his demons are a result of that. Some, too, are definitely of his own doing.
Like a lot of people with problems like this, it's the downtime that gets them. When they're busy with practice/film/structured activity, it's fine. But how do they fill that downtime? Marijuana and alcohol are not the answer. Hopefully NU's support staff can help here, but he's going to have times where he's on his own. What choices does he make? It seems like he's been doing better with these choices the last few months at WNCC, especially since committing to NU.
I was encouraged by the way the meeting with NU was portrayed - sounded like Coach Hoiberg laid out very clearly what he needs to do to take advantage of this chance. They also asked him to show them he could be a better rebounder and passer over the last couple of months of JuCo, which it appears he has done. It sounds like he's excited to get here, which is also encouraging.
Hopefully being closer to his support in Omaha/Boys Town will help. He's an amazing talent and competitor. He certainly wants to play in the NBA. And I think what his brother is doing is also fueling & motivating him to take advantage of this opportunity.
I don't know if it will work out. He's going to be under tight scrutiny with a very short leash. But I was more encouraged about his chances after reading the article.
Probably the best aspect of Fred being the guy to take someone with Teddy's past in is Fred has dealt with this exact personality before. Royce White at Iowa State came with a ton of baggage and it has been proven that during his time under Fred is probably the most stable he had been. Fred has a plan for these guys when they get on campus and he makes sure that they are taken care of and helped every step of the way. Teddy's best chance of success is at Nebraska under Fred and it's not even close.

I would say that there are times this season when this team will look pretty good and like a team that can compete with anyone. There will also be times when this team will be so frustrating and look disorganized. Gotta be ready for the roller coaster this season and enjoy the good times. They should be a glimpse into what is to come in the future

Is it possible it's because Jalen Terry is going to commit to us?

Wish. Don't think so and would not seem like something Fred would do to his buddy Tom

Really like him better if he commits.
Not going to happen unfortunately. Great kid, but his interest is really just being courteous to Fred.

Wouldn't be surprised if we added another walk on guard, maybe one with B1G experience...

I am not worried about height. Hoiberg does pretty good with length and athleticism. As for scholarships, Hoiberg will have 3 available next year. You do not want too much roster turnover each year. Plus, it would not surprise me if 1-2 kids leave a year under Hoiberg (which is not much different than Miles' normal turnover).
This. His most fun teams to watch have been teams without a true big. Almost like he prefers it that way.
People better used to the Scott Frost equivalent on the basketball floor. Trying to outscore people to win.

Could Shamiel be a “Rich man’s” version of Steffon Bradford?
Corey Simms anyone?

I would think being from the northeast Matt A has a pretty good feel for this guy.

I played in the All Iowa Attack practice facility Harrison Barnes made for his middle school Club team. It’s the nicest gym I’ve ever played in. I think they said it cost well over a million dollars. Their team had a guy who dropped 50 on us. It was a really cool experience.
So much misinformation in this post. Barnes didn’t pay a dime for that facility. Please only share facts you know

Also keep an eye on Tamin Lipsey for 2022.
If we get one or both these two the whole state of Iowa may go nuclear.
Not going to happen

Tom is a pretty good player, but Hoibergs offense at Iowa State did not have many small guards. With the exeception of an all American point guard in Monte Morris Fred likes length that can shoot. Not that he wouldn’t have taken Thomas, but we won’t see a lot of guards that look like him going forward.

Keep an eye on this kid

Big mistake on his part in my opinion. Although, one could think that Fred wasn't overly impressed with his film and the kid sees the writing on the wall that playing time might be tough with the dudes Fred will bring in.

It's your hardcore message board/talk radio caller that is pissed. I think they are loud so it just makes it seem liked all are angry.
It's also the media members. It's just not the callers, it's the people running the talk shows/writing the articles.
Trust me I know plenty of Clones fans and they are very upset (quietly though because they want to make you think they are happy with Prohm when deep down they would much rather have Fred but can't admit it because they have to act like they are happy with the guy they are stuck with).

Hankins isn't a former Nebraska football coach, player, or AD at another school. Hiring someone without that sort of background regardless of whether or not he was on that track at Iowa would be out of the ordinary and if any current coach is going to have influence over it, it's Frost.
And who's to say he wasn't hand picked by said decision makers?

This team resembles many of Fred's teams at Iowa State it is scary. The quality of shots we are getting are off the charts. If our guys have the ability to knock them down on most nights we are going to be a tough guard.
