  1. Just saw on the local Sioux City news KCAU9- they just did a story on Verbeeck saying she has transferred to Dordt College (NAIA) and will play for her former high school coach.
  2. Emily Ryan is going to be a Cyclone. https://cyclonefanatic.com/2019/04/cyclone-women-earn-commitment-from-top-50-guard-emily-ryan/
  3. This has nothing to do with the classic sports drink of Gatorade or Powerade (hell, I’ll even throw Body Armour in there with Powerade)- they are practically the same product. Look at all the “extras” the Gatorade line produces (Prime, Endurance, ESSENTL, Recovery), these are the items I was referring to what helps the athletes the most for before/during/after workouts/practices/games. The portfolios speak for themselves there is no denying it. This is what separates the two companies (products offered per websites). Powerade/Body Armour- (5) Original ION4 drink- 14 flavors Zero calorie drink- 5 flavors BodyArmour Superdrink- 11 flavors BodyArmour Lyte Superdrink- 5 flavors BodyArmour Sportwater- 1 flavor Gatorade- (23) Original Thirst Quencher- 4 flavors Zero Thirst Quencher- 3 flavors G2 Thirst Quencher- 3 flavors Propel Zero Water- 4 flavors Flow Thirst Quencher- 4 flavors Frost Thirst Quencher- 3 flavors Fierce Thirst Quencher- 4 flavors Organic Thirst Quencher- 3 flavors Prime Sports Fuel Drink- 3 flavors Prime Fuel Bar- 3 flavors Prime Energy Chews- 4 flavors Endurance Thirst Quencher- 4 flavors Endurance Energy Chews- 2 flavors Endurance Energy Gel- 4 flavors Endurance Carb Energy Drink- 2 flavors Gatorlytes- 1 flavor ESSENTL Whey Isolate Protein Powder- 3 flavors ESSENTL Protein and Carbs Recovery Powder- 2 flavors Recover Whey Protein Powder- 4 flavors Recover Protein Shake- 2 flavors Recover Whey Protein w/ Almond Butter Bar- 3 flavors Recover Whey Protein Bar- 7 flavors Nutrition Shake- 3 flavors
  4. Thanks @49r Yeah, I used to post there some but it’s been a minute. I just lurk now.... I just don’t know why this struck a cord with me and moved me to post about it... probably won’t see me post much, but I’ll drop in from time to time.....
  5. The thing about Pepsi is that it owns Gatorade. Gatorade is what the athletic department is after, not pleasing everyone that their tastebuds are satisfied with their choice of beverage. The line of Gatorade products they provide the department is top notch for elite athletes. Powerade is garbage so I would rather the athletes have what they need to compete at their highest and best abilities during games, practices, workouts, and just in general.
  6. Lisa Mattingly Denise Brooks Penny Davis
  7. Arizona State is gonna be BUSY!!! 2 tournaments? Good grief!!!
  8. Just in: ESPN postgame after UCONN win showed the CC bracketology and he now has Nebraska as the last team in! Also of note- Creighton is the second to last team in.
  9. That was wild! Louisville up by 4- Virginia fouled on a 35ft shot- clock stopped at .9- made first two and had to miss 3rd ft and hope for a tip in- Virginia was in lane too soon- Louisville guy inbounding ball moved 3-4 steps so a turnover- Virginia guy shot a 25ft bank in to win it with .9 left....
  10. Garza is just the weirdest awkward dude ever!
  11. I don’t know what there is on different systems, but DirecTv has alternate BTN channels- (BTN- 610, BTN ALT- 610-1, 610-2, 610-3, 610-4) i don’t understand why BTN don’t use those channels for these games. The only time I have ever seen them used is for football games in the fall.
  12. On the Big 10 website it says that the games may be televised on “Regional Sport Networks” and it says to check your local listings. I wonder if there are any RSN’s that will televise our games??
  13. The pic makes it look promising, but there is a difference between actually practicing and being able to ride the exercise bike/workout with basketball shoes on. No inside info from me but expectations should be tempered if she isn’t ready to come back yet just by looking at a photo standing around with her teammates- if she is good to go then awesome!
  14. What's the dads twitter handle?
  15. She signed an LOI to play basketball at Dordt College in Iowa. NAIA- GPAC Conference.
  16. Western Christian has a 9-11 enrollment of 192. That would translate it to he the 13th largest school in C1 in Nebraska. I know this is prob a little apples and oranges as I think she was a bit quicker but Kelsey Bolte that went to Iowa State and had a tremendous career there went to a smaller high school (mine) than Western Christian is. I do understand that it is much harder for a slower girl from a smaller school to "make it big".
  17. Doyle and Cayton play against us. I hope we don't schedule Washington the next 3 years. That could come to fruition sooner than you think HB. Washington is in the Pre-season WNIT this season along with the Huskers and there's a remote chance we might hook up there! But Romeo won't be suited this year. Now do they allow redshirt to travel?Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk No- transfers do not travel. However if we would end up playing Washington at their place she could/will be on their bench.
  18. Iowa state would be right up there too... Don't forget them.
  19. .....meanwhile, back at Nebraska.... http://journalstar.com/news/local/911/after-title-ix-complaint-former-husker-track-athlete-sues-unl/article_1cab1f5c-1782-51de-9e32-095945ea3ba5.html
  20. I'll attach the article where I got the numbers above from- http://m.omaha.com/huskers/net-gains-in-lincoln-volleyball-is-a-revenue-generator-for/article_2637c720-c903-515d-8aaf-c86c2c3352a0.html?mode=jqm It talks about women's basketball towards the end of article- says only Tennessee made money in that year and UConn that went undefeated that season lost $2,000,000.
  21. Found it- In the black: Rare air for NU volleyball At most large schools, football and men’s basketball are the only athletic programs that generate revenue. Not so at Nebraska, where volleyball finished in the black by more than a half million dollars in 2013-14. Football: $36,316,663 Basketball (m): $2,116,412 Volleyball : $577,601 Sand volleyball (w): -$105,669 Rifle (w): -$345,808 Golf (w): -$495,658 Bowling (w): -$501,325 Golf (m): -$503,528 Tennis (m): -$613,479 Tennis (w): -$647,377 Gymnastics (m): -$681,803 Baseball : -$719,993 Wrestling : -$1,094,543 Swimming (w): -$1,107,364 Gymnastics (w): -$1,148,102 Soccer (w): -$1,239,849 Softball : -$1,377,970 Track/cross country (m): -$1,577,981 Track/cross country (w): -$1,688,689 Basketball (w): -$2,509,607 Source: University of Nebraska report to NCAA
  22. I can't remember where I had seen it but I believe that our women's basketball team were in the red the farthest of all teams we have at Nebraska.
  23. Yes, but if I remember correctly it was because Doc Sadler wanted his own guy who didn't have other sports to deal with and schedule around. Also I think that there was some philosophical differences at play there too.I'm not saying that there will definitely not be some support staff turnover, but pre-coach hiring I was told that trainer and weight coach's job were safe. Time will tell.
  24. I have heard similar. It would not surprise me if she brought all 3. it would surprise me if she didn't at least bring Love and Mays. She may be looking for a DBO, since her current one is in a masters program until December I believe. Are all of the positions from trainer to weight training positions that the head coach fills or are they UNL positions? From what I have been told those two positions are safe, essentially UNL positions.. Not sure of the protocol for if a coach can request a change at those positions or not.Interesting you chose the word "safe."Uhhhh, how else am I suppose to explain it? I don't know of course, but would have to think Coach Amy would/could have some say in the trainer/weight trainer if she wanted some change. Doubt the AD/admin would not listen to the head coach....just as in any other sport. Football completely reorganized their weight training staff and system under Riley im pretty sure that the head strength coach Dobson was part of the football "staff". Meaning that football was his only sport and got paid accordingly ($150k +) and thus was on yearly contracts such as coaches generally all are on. I think the rest of the football weight staff left for other opportunities voluntarily. The only holdover would be Willy Jones in that football staff.I believe that almost all other strength staff are on general contracts that most everyone else in athletic department have. That also goes the same for all athletic trainers. When Riley was hired the training staff stayed the same. This is definitely a situation that maybe a coach can request someone new, but from what I have been told the trainer and weight coach will remain the same unless something unique happens.
