Section_316 reacted to HuskerActuary in So, when do they close in the north end of PBA?
PBA is only truly full 2-3 games per year. I think we still need to prove it that we are ready to expand.

Hmm, interesting question.  Since I have been a Husker basketball fan for over 50 years, perhaps I am accepting.  You do know that Joe Cipriano was the answer, but he died.  Moe was then the answer, but I led the rather morbid chant Moe must go, dig up Joe.  So alas, Moe was not the answer and we hired a young upstart coach from Ohio that had been the Notre Dame recruiting genius under Digger.  He seemed to be the answer, but for various reasons fans and the administration thought he lost his way and we turned to Barry.  Okay, so Barry didn't work out as planned; so hello Doc.  Doc couldn't recruit right, so here we are with Coach Miles.  He can recruit, but those with much more knowledge than me says he cannot coach x's and o's.  So although he has provided passion, some ups and some downs, he apparently has wore out his welcome mat.

So now you ask me if we should accept that we are the worst?  Hmm, those who know me could answer that on my behalf.   The answer is f**k no.  But that may not satisfy you.  But if not, to bad, so sad.  What is clear, is that although we keep overturning rocks, we have apparently not found the answer.  Or perhaps we have, I don't know.  What I can tell you is that we have had a number of Athletic Directors who thought that their man, was the right man.  Yet for over 100 years, we have not found the answer.  OVER 100 YEARS.  Think about that.

So, despite some positive  strides and some bumps in the road, I believe I saw some sunshine.  Yet, the answer by the masses is to turn the page...no, no, shut the book and start another one.  Because you know what, the next coach will be the answer...yup, it has been proven true, correct?  50 years I have stayed loyal, 50 years I have wished, hoped, cried, and celebrated a little.  I have filled a home seat for every home game with one exception since 1984 (Chicago State), and I wait, and wait and wait some more.  So what the heck, let's start over again, it has to be the right thing to do, right?  And let me add, I may be misleading a bit when I say I filled a seat.  Because more often than not, I was out of my seat, on my feet yelling, praying and willing our team to a win.

Here is the reality. We are a bottom 5 Power conference job. We have no recruiting base, no tradition. We have good facilities, but that is a pretty bow on a pig.

So, if a non hoop nerd has heard of him, he's not coming here

If he's coaching in a power 6, he's not coming here.

If hes coaching a higher mid major, he's not coming here.

Some of the names bandied about here are ludicrous.

I'm  not saying its not time for a change. But if we are changing, were going to end up with a low to mid major up & comer, a retread with baggage trying to restore his reputation, or a power conference assistant.

I think he'd use his acumen as Nebraska's best point guard ever--all conference and a first round draft pick, his two NBA championships as a player under Phil Jackson, his decade plus playing career, his time as a lauded assistant under another NBA championship coach (Doc Rivers), and his championship level coaching at Cleveland which got him the mid-season recommendation from the smartest player ever because of how well he relates to players.

When Lue took over and coached Cleveland to an impossible championship in 2016, he completely changed the offense from what Blatt was doing midseason to his preferred up-tempo offense against LBJ's wishes, got the team in better shape, and had them playing great defense by the time Game 7 rolled around.  With that system, they would've won two more had KD not joined the Warriors.

Of course it takes great players to win championships, but it takes great coaching as well.  They aren't mutually exclusive, as you seem to be indicating.

    Hopefully that helps.

The missed goaltend to start there run (cut it from 10 to 8 ) and than the missed shot clock violation that would have given us the ball back down one score were both egregious misses and I believe both could easily be reviewed???

Sad night for the huskers down the stretch and a sad night for the refs.

Thought the first call on palmer on the break was garbage. SHould have easily been Coffey's 4th. Thought Roby's 5th on the rebound scramble was incredibly soft for the game being on the line loose ball type of play.

Whatever- on to creighton. Two HUGE GAMES coming up in the next 8 days.

This thread is silly- 6'9-6'11 guys can get drafted based off one one game in March & some good workouts. If he goes 17-8-5-4-4 in a first round win-- he will be on EVERYONES radar. Season is LONG. NBA doesnt need want the most consistent guys- they want the most upside. One year North Carolina won the national title and there highest drafted player was there 6th man who averaged like 8 & 4.

Wow-- what great minutes yesterday! He had a serious impact on that game.

Got me thinking-- The dude played ONE minute in ONE game as a sophomore-- is there any chance for an appeal and an extra year of eligability given to him? Gosh, I wish it was. He has gotten SO much better and has legit size!

Is there any chance try to and possibly win any sort of appeal regarding an extra year for Borchardt? He played one minute as a sophomore?? Seems like he should have a chance to win an appeal over one danm minute?

I wish we had a Biggs type, albeit without the attitude issues, on this team. Someone on the bench to go get a bucket or drive and create. Remember when he torched Craft all night long haha that was so awesome

I gotta go with 316 on this one.    Assumes Ed doesn't have the attitude he copped in his sophomore year, or the foot problems.  But just based on his game, we're in greater need of his power and athleticism at the 4/5 than whatever Jacobson brings to the table.   Ed is more of a pure post in the college game (despite any illusions he had to the contrary).   We can duplicate the "all-around attributes" of Jake with what we have, but we don't have what Ed can bring.

You know you are starved for information when you check in every 4 hours to see whether there is any news about landing a Euro or JUCO 6'9ish transfer who can play post defense, give us 12 minutes, 4 points and 5 rebounds per game. I don't care if the source of the information has zero credibility. This yet unknown player has to be out there somewhere.  Please, please materialize.
