A very disappointing end to an even more disappointing season. Sorry, this is a bit long! 😁

    1. There were some questionable calls in the game but Verge and Trey we’re out of control at the end of the game. It’s hard to call a foul for a guy who’s out of control. (Side note: What did Hoiberg call for the last play? I can’t think it was give it to Trey to go the length of the court.) Verge was mostly good but had some killer TOs. Hope McPherson is a strong PG. He seems like such a good leader on the bench.

    2. Walker was excellent tonight. I know he’s older, but it would solidify our post play if he came back with Blaise, Andre, Wilhelm, etc. Would also be nice if Denim could play the 3 and 4.

    3. Lat needs to go. I don’t want to beat up on the guy. He puts forth effort, but he can’t catch the ball, lacks confidence shooting, and needs to be stronger at the rim.

    4. Trey was so good on defense, especially in the first half. Will miss that defensive play and playing with an edge. Would be great to have back but I doubt it will happen.

    5. Bryce was very disappointing tonight. His defense was poor and seemed disinterested at times on offense. That said, he should’ve received more foul calls in the first half. If he would commit to playing defense, he would be such a dynamic player. He would be better than Jaden Ivy because he can score more easily and with more variety. Hope he comes back but I highly doubt it.

    6. Fred can’t control stupid TOs, but he can control when he calls timeouts. Gotta call one sooner against the zone. And please make some changes with the coaching staff so that we have a complete roster, not just some athletes.

    7. Finally, thanks for all of you on this board with such great insights, humor, and also kindness. Most boards get a little too rude and obnoxious. But you guys are great! Thanks and here’s to hoping for better days ahead!

Go for it.  As for my vote, I totally, completely reject (100%) 3 consecutive terrible seasons,  and selfish and undisciplined play with inconsistent effort.

Walker and Wilcher being the main two, and the bench guys who are watching who will be here next year (Wilhelm, Keon possibly, Keisei, Dawson, Q, Oleg). "hey this is how you execute this offense at a high level and win". And as everyone here knows, winning is the cure-all to get everyone on board. They seem to have the "right minded guys" to understand how to work.

Like I said. Not excusing the season. Top 2 disappointing season for me over the last decade of Nebrasketball. But the next season for next years team starts in a few weeks. They saw how the offense needs to be executed. It's just turning a page now, and I'm happy to turn the page as I'm sure everyone else there is.

It’s just become expected at this point. With a few minutes left in the game I said “we will find a way to give it to Rutgers, prove me wrong”

We have some systemic issues that simply won’t lend to a winning season.

Serious Question. Who can jump higher.
    A) Teddy Allen
    B) Joe McCray
    C) CJ Wilcher
    D) A-B, definitely not C

    I don't feel anymore.

As loyal and dedicated as I am to this team, my first reaction to CJ's first missed free throw was an audible laugh. Like "of course!"

There's no "this team just needs to learn how to win" anymore. This is a "change your philosophy or change your players to fit your philosophy" thing.

Who doesn't see progress?  3 weeks ago we lost by 28 points to this same team.  Now, we only lose by 2.  Putting lipstick on a pig!!!

@throwback Go listen to the whole hour if you have time, because there's other stuff, too. Lot's of stuff they're not doing.

First question was basically do they even care how bad things are going? And Webster basically said, well, yeah, it might not look like it, but as soon as they get over their own personal agendas, things might turn around. Like WTF?

But I'm particularly troubled by that last 10 minutes or so.

Vershan Jackson gives an illustration of how a conversation between teammates holding each other accountable might go. "I need you to do a better job of boxing out." "Yeah, OK, gotcha." "Because I'm tired of losing." "I got you."

And Webster's like, um, that kind of nice back and forth? Yeah, that's not happening with us. And Vershan Jackson mimics players saying like "You're not the boss of me!" And Webster responds, yep, that's pretty much what it is.

The culture in this program is deep in the shit. And the head guy, who's getting $3.5 million this year to BE the head guy, needs to pull his head out of his butt and quit tolerating what he's getting.

I'm just beside myself here. I ain't that damn old yet, but I ain't getting any younger, and I want to be around when the monkey comes off this program's back. So I'd appreciate a little sense of urgency by the guys who are in charge. I'm just so disgusted RN I don't even know what to say.

The question, specifically, was who is the player that is holding his teammates accountable. And the answer was nobody.

They're not working on the little things and they're not being held accountable for failing to do the little things. And Kobe said he told the coaches that the players can't hold each other accountable if the coaches won't.

And it just makes you wonder, if this is the stuff happening on the practice floor, what accountability is there for things away from the practice floor?

I listened to this and I was just gobsmacked.

It ain't no wonder that ppl like @tcp are saying they don't like this team. Because what you see on the floor on game day is a reflection of who they are being off the floor.

There's a place where the buck stops. But it's apparently in Trev Albert's office because it sure doesn't appear to be in Hendricks.

I would say we have 6 players that give all out effort a great majority of the time.  3 of them are hurt right now.  Keisei, Walker, Trey, Wilhelm, Wilcher, and Lakes.

    It goes deeper:

Amazingly, the first three College Football Playoffs (2015, 2016 & 2017) have only featured teams that are sponsored by Nike – Ohio State, Alabama, Florida State, Oregon, Washington, Oklahoma and Michigan State. Nike also currently sponsors 17 of the last 19 FBS National Champions. Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, LSU, and USC, who all won multiple championships from 1998 to 2017, are all currently sponsored by Nike. Auburn, the 2010 National Champions, are sponsored by Under Armour, and Miami (FL), the 2001 National Champions, are sponsored by Adidas.
In the FCS, Nike currently sponsors 11 of the last 17 (64.7 percent) National Champions. North Dakota State and Appalachian State won seven of the last 17 national championships combined, and Nike currently sponsors both schools. Eastern Washington, Delaware, Georgia Southern, and Massachusetts are FCS Champions who Adidas currently sponsors, while Western Kentucky University is the only champion since 1998 sponsored by Russell Athletics.

I think the scales are tipped even more in favor of Nike in hoops.  We've made the wrong move every step of the way for 30 years!

Okay, I just have to ask... I can't imagine this hasn't been asked before, but here we are.

Can somebody just come forward and admit their mistake?

On the day(s) of January 2, 1998, March 12, 1998, or June 21, 2005 did any of you believe they gave up their soul to the sports gods, but mistakingly gave up the soul of the men's major athletic programs at Nebraska?

If you believe this is you, please fix it. The rest of us are going through a lot of pain and suffering right now. Thank you in advance.

For the rest of you, "you might be entitled to compensation" (or at least that's what the mesothelioma commercials have told me...)

    Bryce
    Walker
    Wilhelm
    Trey

Can go either way hope they stay to gain some experience

    Edwards
    Andre
    Keisei
    McPherson
    Wilcher

    Needs to go
    Lat

We need to find a defensive system that will get stops on a consistent basis, and we need to find animals on the boards.

We went a time during the season where players would get benched if they took a bad shot.  We seem to be taking better shots with fewer forced shots.  The next step I'd like to see is to start benching players if they fail to box out.  The problem lies in that is harder to gauge than seeing a poor shot go up.  Defensive effort also needs to be addressed.  If you slack on defense, you see the bench.  Something's got to make these guys see the light.

All power 5 teams have guys that are taking advantage of NIL. Trey is injured and we don't put Bryce into a great position to succeed. Red herring argument imo.

I didn't follow ISU hoops post Julius Michalik so I don't know the answer, but I would guess he was getting impact transfers to add to a competent roster rather than 80% turnover every season

I have come to the conclusion that this is something bigger than just a BB problem.  With all the dynamics of the transfer portal, revenue money for players while they are in school, etc., just feels like this is working against us.  People snickered when Rutgers was added to the Big Ten.  But when it comes to men's sports, Nebraska is the new Rutgers.  It's a different story with women's sports.  Anyone here feel the same way?  What can possibly be the answer to dig us out of this mess.
