I get the purpose of a thread like this…but it feels a little nitpicky given that we just blew out a P5 team.  I mean…we ARE all NU basketball fans here, right?  As in the team that only won 7 games each of the last couple years?

Are there tons of things to improve?  Of course.  Do some of our players need to develop?  Clearly.  But let’s not miss the forest for the trees, fellas.  We are so talented offensively compared to previous years.  We’ve made 23 3-pointers in our two exhibition games.

Also…our improvement from exhibition game 1 to 2 was…whoa.  Makes me really wonder where the ceiling is.

As a side bar, I took my 15-yr-old son to his first NUBB game today and he thought the team looked great and the overall experience was fantastic.  I didn’t have to try to convince him to like this team…the team did that all by themselves.  They made a fan today.

This is so awesome. Love hearing stories like this. Glad your son got to go to a game. I share a lot of the same sentiments, I'm level headed with this team esp after a couple decades as a husker hoops fan. It's gonna be a process, but that's the same for every college team, so why are people surprised it's not perfect? Some people are crazy with their alternate realities and dumb expectations.

I'm blown away by the potential too. This is gonna be real fun, at the very least. If Colorado was truly a 40th-ish power level opponent,  then we have a fighters chance in the big ten, because most of the teams are around that kenpom and a group in the top 20.

Oh boy. Buckle in! And support these college kids. Need positivity not screaming couch quarterbacks.

Sooooo I have a new favorite player...Its Keisei. It has nothing to do with his shot. Fella's. I think we have found our player that other teams hate and we absolutely adore. He has stolen my heart with how he plays basketball. I am in love 😍

Me too!! The kid's got moxy, and he's not afraid to take a heat check shot. He's got balls like curry. Love it.

Undersized on the defense but I think the tradeoffs worth it.

The personalities on this team...  Dudes.... And keisei is way up there on my list. Love it 😄😄😁😁🏀

  3. Holy crap. Great game. At half its 16, gotta keep our foot on the gas and not get lazy. Towards the latter half of the first half they got lazy and sloppy. But couldn't ask for much more. They look fantastic, even with it just beitn exhibition. Home court adv seems to be serious again and you can tell the players really get juiced on it. Crowd isn't that loud but it's pretty good for 1/2 empty on Halloween exhibition at noon. Lol

I know I was really looking forward to this one all week, but that's just me, I have no life. 😄 But it's cool, an old big 12 rival, Colorado, y'know.

Colorado starts out at #35, so that should actually be a really good test for us coming up.

Looking forward to sunday afternoon there... I remember those old saturdays vs the buffs. and this buffs team is LEGIT. Gonna be a winnable one but we're the underdogs. despite it being an exh, I love it being a scheduled game, and for a good cause too ofc. But the fact that fred and the husker crew sought this match out, I'm real impressed. this kind of opponent really helps  the team, tests us. early season you want mostly cupcakes to build confidence, but a good test here and there is important too.

Colorado is gonna run on us and will test our defense, which looked a little sloppy tonight. Can't wait to see this one. maybe I'll move down lower earlier in the game if it's sparse again.

  5. another little nugget: I was shocked when I noticed how built and tall lakes is, I didn't expect that; with him standing next to sam, he's a legit 6'8, and sam is my height (6').

We have a great physical profile as a team. I think this looks different than a usual big ten roster,(long wings, everyone's a guard) but that's because it's fred's plan... and I think if we make the postseason it'll help us in  the long run.

still can't get over how incredible it feels to have this depth.

the brothers will get it together (hopefully sooner than later), and when they do, watch out. Might be lookin at 5 more wins than the expectation, closer to 20 at tops I think. goal is still to get close to .500 and make the postseason. just wanna see a better performance, and for gods sake, please, some more wins than we've had before! double digits isn't too much to ask for.

The DJ was okay...that was a bit awkward though when he first yelled "go big red" and the crowd sort of under reacted.

I will also be interested in the fan reaction to the playing of the  unification song and then the national anthem.   I kind of liked it, but the stretch is sort of lengthy.  I wonder if all college basketball is going to handle it the same way?

oh yeah, I'd agree there with that particular stunt... we all know it's a husker tradition of the 3x GBR chant, but cmon dude it does seem real forced (especially for a lukewarm exhibition crowd. they could probably do well to read the room a bit more in the future

unification song? what's that? I feel out of the loop

Keon had a better three ball than I expected.

***any guesses as to which player drew the biggest crowd buzz when he entered the game???  If you guessed a certain Japanese sniper, you would be correct.

haha yeah a lot of guys have a nicer stroke than even I expected. although I have had recent low expectations for our shooting and FT%, after recent years.

OMG Tominaga and Wilhelm are huge fan favs already. I love them. and all the dudes/personalities on this team. cant wait to see video of locker room celebrations when we upset a team in the B1G this year... its almost inevitable considering the big volume of these opportunities we will get in the best conference in college basketball

  8. For sure, that was a welcome surprise to see a good inside game start to develop throughout the game... and we were all confused why andre didnt see the court for 35 min of the game... methinks it was fred experimenting with smaller fast lineups. whatever it means, when he did hit the court he was so dominant. what I love to see with the big men is the active hands and jumping, effort on the boards... there were a few athletic possessions by Ed where he blocked then tipped the ball up a few times and then got the rebound or tipped it to a teammate. thats what we like to see!

    other bigs/wings who can rebound:

    Lat

    our lithuanian dude, Oleg

Alonzo and his activity where he seems to be everywhere on the court, at all times. the energy he brings!

    VILHEIM!

    Andre

That's not bad. esp considering my expectations coming in of this team being more of a versatile Every-guy-is-a-6'7-wing kind of lineup. yet we dont seem to suffer from a slow big anymore.

All this with a caveat of course, exhibition

they're a little lazy on some possessions but Im not upset at anything really, this was routine. slow start but this team has a HIGH ceiling from my biased point of view 😎

  9. Really fun to be back. Especially nice esp considering the long hiatus of fans. The kids seemed to really feed on the presence in the building of the fans.

Gonna come back and take a look at the box score - - they like to make it hard to find boxes for these unofficial exhibition games.

Explosive athletic and young. Not gonna win every one, but I guarantee you guys it'll be fun and we'll score. Chemistry is high and they're deep. Already some fan and team favorite characters... All you need for good college hoops. Ah, how great it feels this time of year, to be back!

  10. I like this 9 fwiw...

Want to see as many guys get on the court though early in the season. I do like this team.

Concerns: young team, so naturally pretty porous on Defense and some mental problems that get better with time-- so some inconsistency will come. Lots of feeling out.

I do like what I see so far. Verge is a volume scorer but not in a bad way like teddy. He seems to be at least the leader of the second unit, and probably more; looks like an immediate contributor,  everything runs thru him as a linchpin

Team is athletic, long, looks like a high scoring husker team, and chemistry thru the roof. I'm excited. Ofc take this all with a husker tinted grain of salt, this like all fans here I'd from guys who have watched abysmal husker hoops for decades....  Low bar. Lol

What is % of fans in masks? Looked about 50% in brief tv coverage on news.

Everyone here is masked, but of course once in seats a lot of ppl pull them down or do the nose peek thing. It's ok. I'd also rather ppl try a little harder. But I've got a gaiter and mask just in case, it's nbd. Will see as the year goes. My bet is ppl get more relaxed and lazy with it as we get into the season. Hope ppl stay safe... Ofc I know and everyone who got season tix know we were taking a risk even being in a big crowd.

Not to worries I'm just gonna test more often after games
