What would be really interesting: a tournament featuring Kansas/State, Mizzou, Nebraska, and Colorado, as a mini-Big 12 North reunion tourney. Keep the South teams far away

I think that award will probably go to Maryland, but they might be next in line.

    --In short--
    The Good:
-'Nova MIGHT be the best team we see all year.
-It was still a ballgame at the 2:00 mark in the 1st Half.
    The Bad:
    -Turnovers
    -Offense in general.
-Leadership. This is Shavon's team. I know that he's kind of reached "can-do-no-wrong" status, but he really needs to take charge in being a vocal leader on this team. Every good team has one.

I think its just an adjustment of him wanting to being a post guy.  Its like a hitter in baseball or golf changing their swing.  It will take some time to adjust and some mental issues to get over but in the end things should work out.  He needs to find a good happy medium imo to do his post work but also get out on the wing to shoot.

Good topic and post. You bring up a good point in each possessing a different skill set. The bottom line with Miles, as we've seen, is that you absolutely have to be able to play on the defensive end to see meaningful minutes. That, right now, is what's separating the "six that (Miles) will play against anyone" vs. the others.
We know what we're going to get with Benny. He's an absolute game changer on the defensive end. One area of improvement that I'd like to see out of him is his ability to push transition and create 2-on-1s and 3-on-2s. in most cases, Benny is going to be the fastest player on the floor. He also comes up with a lot of steals. Watch Ty Lawson come up with a steal and turn it into an easy two. We need to see plays like this out of Benny:

To me, Tai is the most intriguing player (out of the three). Last year he showed us glimpses of being a really good player, but it was apparent that he wasn't 100% comfortable playing to the speed of the American game. Playing in the World Cup in addition to having a year acclimating to life half-way around the globe is going to pay big dividends. Remember Tai leading the team in free throw attempts in the early portion of non-con last year? He was getting to the line because he was getting to the rack with confidence. I guess what I'm trying to say is that with him, lack of ability was never an issue. I think he's poised for a big year.
Tarin will give us minutes just as long as he can guard his position in the Big Ten. To me, he appears to be the most natural point guard on the roster. Those in the know have clamored about both his basketball IQ and his ability to create for teammates. It doesn't sound like much, but if he can come in and contribute 2 assists per game at that position, that will be great contribution.

Thanks to TO for recruiting Ed Morrow and Will Shields for football which is now paying a dividend to this day for us.

Screw it. I'm all-in on the hype. I'm not going to allow the shortcomings of the Pre-Miles era deter my hopes and expectations for this team. We're the 11th best team in the country.... Yeah, I said it.
    Edit: For the record:
-All of the Top 11 teams in the 2013 Athlon Preview ended up making the tourney.
-8 teams advanced to the round of 32.
-5 teams advanced to the Sweet 16.
-9 teams finished in the Final Coaches Top 25.

No reason we shouldn't finish 10-2 or better heading into a new year's matchup with Indiana...we're going to have the best player on the court for every one of those games.  Buy the hype.

Not good. Iowa State never went near this kid. Seems interesting to me to waste a scholarship on a practice player.

I think you missed the point. I'm saying the "bigness" is relative to the season. And I don't think the arena stands like it did for Wisconsin for any game unless you have some sort of promotion in conjunction with it. There's nothing wrong with a gimmick from time to time.

The coaches and players can call for no-sit sunday any game they want, but if there aren't high stakes on the line, its gonna be hard to support it.  I would say 90% of the time, No Sit Sunday will be best in the last few games of the year, often the last game of the year (Senior Day...possible post-season implications).

That said, I will embrace it any game.  I have no problem replicating the fan experience as the Wisconsin game.

Not here to argue, but discuss. I think that the idea of a "no-sit" game is seen by some as some sort of gimmick. I see it in another way. Maybe it's from sitting in the library that was Devaney for so many years (especially in the post-Nee era), but I prefer an energized, geeked up crowd. A "no-sit" game promotes that. I also absolutely hate Creighton. Yes, we will have a more talented team. But we still have to do more than just show up to win that game. That brings me to my next point. Can we really afford a loss to Creighton this year? I'm not talking in terms of tourney chances, I'm talking about for the projection of the program. If we can't win the state of Nebraska, we have a LONG way to go. Lastly, it's a great showcase for recruiting. I shouldn't have to go into that (recruiting) any further.

Couldn't you make that argument for every game, especially last year's Wisconsin game (given the circumstances)?

Let's be honest. They've owned us for awhile now. What's wrong with giving our only rival a raucous and difficult atmosphere to play in?

Why? I think it should be whatever game is important for the program. If it's non-conference game vs. Creighton so be it. It's relative to each season. If we get Duke in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge some year, that could be it or it could be an early conference game when Michigan State comes to town. The only qualifier is that it should be a big game. For this team right now, Creighton would qualify, IMO. It may not down the road, but I think it could certainly be in the conversation this year if this is something they want to make a tradition.
