  1. Steph Curry and Kenneth Faried also outplayed their Rivals Ranking.
  2. Good topic and post. You bring up a good point in each possessing a different skill set. The bottom line with Miles, as we've seen, is that you absolutely have to be able to play on the defensive end to see meaningful minutes. That, right now, is what's separating the "six that (Miles) will play against anyone" vs. the others. We know what we're going to get with Benny. He's an absolute game changer on the defensive end. One area of improvement that I'd like to see out of him is his ability to push transition and create 2-on-1s and 3-on-2s. in most cases, Benny is going to be the fastest player on the floor. He also comes up with a lot of steals. Watch Ty Lawson come up with a steal and turn it into an easy two. We need to see plays like this out of Benny: To me, Tai is the most intriguing player (out of the three). Last year he showed us glimpses of being a really good player, but it was apparent that he wasn't 100% comfortable playing to the speed of the American game. Playing in the World Cup in addition to having a year acclimating to life half-way around the globe is going to pay big dividends. Remember Tai leading the team in free throw attempts in the early portion of non-con last year? He was getting to the line because he was getting to the rack with confidence. I guess what I'm trying to say is that with him, lack of ability was never an issue. I think he's poised for a big year. Tarin will give us minutes just as long as he can guard his position in the Big Ten. To me, he appears to be the most natural point guard on the roster. Those in the know have clamored about both his basketball IQ and his ability to create for teammates. It doesn't sound like much, but if he can come in and contribute 2 assists per game at that position, that will be great contribution.
  3. He also measured in with a 7'0" wing span at the LeBron James Skills Academy. For comparisons sake, he needs to add a little muscle, but his measurements are nearly identical to that of his old Mac Irvin and Simeon counterpart, Jabari Parker.
  4. Screw it. I'm all-in on the hype. I'm not going to allow the shortcomings of the Pre-Miles era deter my hopes and expectations for this team. We're the 11th best team in the country.... Yeah, I said it. Edit: For the record: -All of the Top 11 teams in the 2013 Athlon Preview ended up making the tourney. -8 teams advanced to the round of 32. -5 teams advanced to the Sweet 16. -9 teams finished in the Final Coaches Top 25.
  5. Don't know if we'll pursue, but it looks like he just hit the waiver wire again. Would definitely help alleviate the loss of Smith. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/11218118/eric-mcknight-play-tennessee-volunteers-sec-rules
  6. Let's be honest. They've owned us for awhile now. What's wrong with giving our only rival a raucous and difficult atmosphere to play in?If we have to plan something like this for our in-state rival, I question the rivalry. If they're a rival, we shouldn't have to put something together to be a raucous crowd; it should happen naturally.Couldn't you make that argument for every game, especially last year's Wisconsin game (given the circumstances)? Was last year's Wisconsin game against our in-state rival? Was last year's Wisconsin a non-conference game? Did last year's Wisconsin game have little to do with us making the NCAA tournament? I didn't have a problem with No-Sit Sunday last year, as that game was huge in terms of our program and where it was/is heading. When have we ever been able to say that about a game against Creighton? Not here to argue, but discuss. I think that the idea of a "no-sit" game is seen by some as some sort of gimmick. I see it in another way. Maybe it's from sitting in the library that was Devaney for so many years (especially in the post-Nee era), but I prefer an energized, geeked up crowd. A "no-sit" game promotes that. I also absolutely hate Creighton. Yes, we will have a more talented team. But we still have to do more than just show up to win that game. That brings me to my next point. Can we really afford a loss to Creighton this year? I'm not talking in terms of tourney chances, I'm talking about for the projection of the program. If we can't win the state of Nebraska, we have a LONG way to go. Lastly, it's a great showcase for recruiting. I shouldn't have to go into that (recruiting) any further.

  8. I respectfully disagree. I said all along, while we were making that run, that we were either good enough to dance or we weren't. And I said that I believed we were good enough. And if we were good enough, we would win the games we needed to win. And if we didn't win the games we needed to win in order to make the dance, then the conclusion would be that we simply weren't good enough. But you can go back and search. I said it then and I say it now. Luck had nothing to do with it. When people were posting the published odds from various websites predicting the likelihood that we would reach the dance, I said, basically, nonsense. When people said we'd have to be lucky, I said nonsense. We're either good enough or we're not. And I said I thought we were good enough. And we were. We will be no less good this coming season. In fact, we'll have added some pieces that will make us better. We must make the dance again this year. And we really ought to win a game when we get there. Anything less and, yes, I will be disappointed. Disappointed because we are good enough. Finally. The other thing we are not considering is that our schedule was manageable last year and down the stretch when we went on our run was pretty dang easy (aside from the MSU stunner). First off, nothing comes easy in this conference. Northwestern was just coming off a stretch of beating Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota--all on the road, prior to us winning in Evanston. Secondly, we started the conference season 0-4. Is an 0-4 start even fathomable with 5 returning starters from a team who finished 4th? Probably not. Do as you wish, but expectations should be no less than 9-10 conference wins. That will most likely put us in the tournament.

  10. OWH article on Tai and how his summer's been going. From July 7th. http://m.omaha.com/huskers/barfknecht-husker-webster-works-to-vie-for-spot-with-new/article_d27d2359-11ba-5971-9ab7-7cc75187ec52.html?mode=jqm
  11. Don't think it's fair to Robin or HOL to post a free summary of the article. With that said, after reading the article, I'd say he favors Nebraska.
  12. Not a stretch at all. At any rate, for that one night, against a Final Four team, they were the two best players on the floor.
  13. 49r, Thanks for all of the time and contribution you've put in this thread.
  14. It's nice to have a coach that pops up in these articles, but the source, Jason King, is very familiar with Nebraska as he spent many years with the KC Star and if you follow him, you'll realize how enamored he is with Miles.
  15. Congrats to Teddy. He's a great person and budding coaching star.
  16. Wait a minute. Miles is really going to be on Boo's bag for an actual event? That's incredible! Edit: Maybe we'll hear more of this...
  17. Wow. The kid certainly displays some Shannon Brown type of bounce. Intriguing for sure....especially if he were to grow another inch or two.
  18. Keep Tai and Hawkins away from him. This is how it always is during basketball season San Diego of the Big Ten.
  19. For those who believe weather plays a factor, it's supposed to be 72 and sunny all weekend.
  20. April 25th-27th is an evaluation period for NCAA BB. I'm guessing Miles is on the road.
