Hey, it's a big number.  You're competing against NBA cash in that case you'd HAVE to throw out a big number.  I'd even say "holy crap you're paying him more than Frost" should be thrown in there.
 
There are things in life you pay to get, because it gets you what you want.  This department isn't going broke even if we paid the basketball coach that much.
 
Talk whatever number you want.  In the end I don't care what we pay him.  I care that we get a coach that will put us in the national top 10 conversation.  The rest is a bunch of trivial crap.
 
Keeping in mind, that I'm still frustrated for miles this year because i feel like he built us up from a terrible program into at least a middling one.  This was his chance to get that ncaa monkey off his/our back and an injury killed us.  I honestly believe miles was improving over time to where we'd have been a top 25 team consistently.  BUT... that's not going to change how things are and so my gears change.
 
We need that next level guy.  Stop f---ing around and realize that the athletic department was in the black by several million while paying off TWO former football coaches this year (which means we have WAY more than enough to make some serious noise here).  We've got whatever we want to get whomever we want.  If you're not going to act that way then nobody good is going to take you seriously. 
 
So I pulled a number out.  So what.  It got my point across didn't it?

4 more wins including b1g tourney and we will be in.  Might be 3.

Odds are if you lay up and birdie, you'll get 2nd place for sure.  And like was said before people can lose tournaments as well as win them.

The only bubbles we are on are getting into the midwest regional for lots of "home" games and for a 2 seed.
 
Anyone who thinks this team is currently on the bubble is flat out a moron.

3-4 is plenty good for a top 15 team

It'll be nice to start having some home games where we get some of these calls.

If this team figures out its head issues there isnt a single team we cant beat.
 
If it doesnt, we will keep sputtering.

3-3 keeps us in 5-7 seed range
 
4-2 would put us in extremely good ncaa position.  This conference is so strong we will be in the driver's seat for seeding to an extent.
 
5-1 or better and we are legit talking regular season b1g title possibilities and 1-3 ncaa seed

Talk to me after the next 4 b1g games -- three on the road.  We should win a load of games in the middle of our b1g schedule but we gotta pull out some at the beginning and end.

...and q1 road wins.  That's why the Clemson game was so important.  Those wins are exponentially more important than bad losses... and neither of our losses were what the committee will consider bad.

Here's the thing... we went 4-0 last year against Iowa and Wisconsin... Two teams currently ranked in the NET top 20.
 
Sure they're better this year.  The entire conference is better.  So are we.
 
But do you think for one second that watson ,etc is going to go into those places with an ounce of fear? HELL NO.  We may not win, but they're going to have to beat us.  And they couldnt do that last year.
 
I see no reason we cant win 13 games again.  At minimum.  Harder schedule and more games makes 13 reasonable.  With the way the conference stacks up that should give us a 3 or 4 seed in the conference tourney.  That is also probably a 3 or 4 seed or so in the tournament given how ridiculously strong the B1G is in the NET.
 
At which point, we will be favored to win.  Possibly two or more games.
 
And frankly on top of that this is conservative IMO.   We just beat a sweet 16 team with 4 returning starters and 85% of their production back on the road.  That was no crap win.  Period.
 
Dont get me wrong.  We need to play ball.   But it is all right in front of us if we reach out and take it.

We are just underrated.  Nobody wants to admit we finished 4th last year and brought virtually everyone back.... and the conference just looks better in the metrics this year.
 
I lost track of how many preseason rankings had us 7th or worse in the conference.  People don't want to see it.
