  1. I'll be sitting in front of my comp, watching a dodgy live stream of the game, here in New Zealand. Bit nervous already. Go Nebraska! It will be a double header for me because i'll be watching Steven Adams' Thunder play first and then the nNebraska game. I am hoping that coach Miles gives Tai the proverbial pre-game kick up the butt to ensure Tai starts strong and agressive. None of those nonchalant start he tends to have. I also want to see him drive the lanes early and draw some fouls. Curious to see how they will cope without a big, but counting on plenty of heart and commitment to counter that. Loving the anticipation and start of the season! Nebraska by 4..
  2. I am an old fart who will probably never get the opportunity to visit your wonderful arena, but choosing Lorde's "Royal" would be cool because she is a Kiwi. Plus the lyrics are reasonably intelligent. When push comes to shove though, playing good solid rock songs as an intro will do the trick for everyone. Australian Rugby League had Tina Turner's "Simply the Best" as their theme song at the end of 80's which worked a treat with all ages
  3. Saw only the first 10 minutes of the scrimmage and then, Murphy's Law, the connection gave up on me(horrible spring storm weather over here). My immediate thoughts were that what we understand of the concept 'scrimmage' must be different from yours (or at least what i think it means). It was like a stroll in the park. I started making a note of a serious lack of offensive rebounding but then realised that none of the players were really trying hard, so I put my note book aside and just try to follow some individuals. Liked Pitchford and Petteway. Thought Tai was cruising, at least i hope so. The little of what i saw him ball handling wise was that he seemed a little lacksadaysical bringing the ball up, but then again, that might be the festival spirit of the game.
  4. yep, figured it. Got it all set up! Coffee, muffin and notebook lol

  6. Thank you for the warm welcome. Love your avatar, Jimmy and looking forward to your report after Friday. Silverbacked, I picture you as the patriarch of this site and will make sure to be polite to you at all times to quickly advance all chances of an increased status in here. Well Norm, it is true that living here does sometimes feel like living in a village (you'll always meet someone who knows someone who is a cousin of the brother of the groundsman at The Caketin who mentioned that the sister of last friday's bartender was having problems with gout..) but in this case I do not know Cell . I do love the idea of you guys posting a link (or anything) for illegal live coverage of Nebraska games! Forgot to thank you 49r for your original welcoming response to my introductory mail a few months back. I do intend to stick around and see if my bet with my neighbour to have 3 kiwi's in the NBA by 2020 will come to fruition.
  7. Good to hear the first impressions about Tai. I have seen him play here in new zealand and was impressed by his general stature (not being overawed by much older and experienced players) and shooting. Alhough he seemed to have the physical body and presence, there were times that i felt he shied away from driving to the basket when I thought he could. It was a little like he was trying to play for the team when maybe an individual action was optional, if that makes sense. I do not know much about american college basketball but I have heard it can be quite physical and fast, and that may be an aspect of his early game that may be lacking. That level of basketball is a different kettle of fish compared to league basketball in New Zealand. I like to see him develop some mongrel and 'american cockiness' (that's a compliment for those of you who may be sensitive to that kind of thing ). Keep the reports coming. So sorry I cannot experience the exitement live, but through you guys I can get a taste of it. thank you
  8. CTRL + Q to Enable/Disable GoPhoto.it Ok, signed up 3 months ago and weathered new zealand winter and my anticipation to now finally post in support of the above request. Being from New Zealand and a big fan and follower of Tai I love to see an expert college basketball view of where Tai is at and what your first impressions are on Friday (for us that will be saturday) of him in all aspects: technically, how does he stack up to american standards? Is he still behind with his physical play (overall my biggest worry in the beginning)? How is his D? How do his team mates seem to relate to him? Is he firing his shots and/or positioning himself fast enough or is he too slow? You have no idea how much I would, and currently do, appreciate the writings on this site on Nebraska basketball and the opinions and going on's that go with it. It will take me some time to get to know all Tai's team mates but with your writings and hopefully some video material in the future, I will get to know this team to throw heart and soul behind Nebraska. Wishing you, jealously, well when going to the scrimmage on friday. yours sincerely JK
  9. Kia Ora just registered here to follow, with high anticipation and expectation, my compatriot Tai Webster. Basketball is on a high at the moment here in New Zealand and I will be eagerly following your team's and Tai's exploits in the Big East. I have hopes to see Tai in 3 or 4 years playing in the NBA but they are not high hopes yet and are therefore trying to gauge his progress by following your direct impressions and judgements on this site. I have a current bet with my neighbour ( a bet which is now 3 years old) that we would have 3 kiwis playing in the NBA before 2020. Steven Adams is no1, Tai could be no2 and we have another 7 years to come up with a fourth :]. regards Slowneasy
