  1. What a game to end up on!! Way to protect the home court these last two home games!! Michigan State just about won it at the end had that full court shot been 12 inches shorter. Once our big girls decided to play some solid defense from the middle of the third quarter on we turned into another team out there. Our defense fueled our offense and it helped secure this game. And one that was fun to watch! That had to be Allie's best defensive output of the year. That kid also grabbed some big and crucial rebounds down the stretch. Wouldn't have won without her today. It also turned out to be Maddie Simon's best game of her career so far. Jess Shepard with huge numbers again, just wish she'd do a better job on the foul line. I'm extremely ecstatic over how well our two freshmen starters played today!! Nicea E, although she didn't hit a bucket, she played her arse off the whole time she was on the court!! Her defense, hustle, fight and determination is a major reason we won today! Nicea held Jankoska to seven points the whole afternoon, Jankoska scored the rest of her point's when Nicea was on the bench taking a breather or after she fouled out. That darn technical Nicea was assessed with could have went on either team as there was pushing and shoving on both teams, Jankoska was the one who initiated it, Nicea just happened to be the one the ref saw. How about that other freshman? Hannah with some fantastic shots and rebounds just at the right time! I wished that they would have run more plays for her over the course of the season for getting her open for more shots. The way she can put the ball in the hole is just going to get better as she matures the next few years. Cu-do's to a fantastic atmosphere, without a doubt, the crowd turned out to be a sixth player for the Huskers down the stretch! Just an unbelievable way to end play in PBA this year.

  5. Highlights from last night's debacle .
  6. Husker recruit Ashtyn Verbeek has led her team to the Iowa State tourney.. http://siouxcityjournal.com/sports/high-school/basketball/western-christian-back-to-state/article_fedbaefe-e5c6-5f5e-85d8-9a858f276051.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  7. If your in Lincoln there's two big district finals still scheduled for tonight in Class B. At Lincoln North Star, Platteview plays Gretna at 7 pm should be a good game Both are in the top ten In Class B, Gretna is #2 and Platteview is #10. Platteview lost to Gretna earlier in the season. Plattteview would have had all state guard Payton Brotzki had she not tore up her knee a few weeks ago. At Lincoln High, Norrris takes on Seward also tonight at 7. Both of these two are also ranked in the top ten in Class B, Norris is #4 Seward is #7. These two teams were to play in December but the game got cancelled. Both should be good games.
  8. Just a terrible defensive effort. Too slow reacting, you gotta move your feet girls and stop that dribble drive and get a hand in the shooters face. 21 turnovers. Gave up 33 points in 3-pointers. Shepard and Havers with 12 points, Whitish and Simon both had 11, Nicea with a goose egg.
  9. Maybe some life? 9-0 run to end the half. Big three by Hannah to end the half! Keep it going!
  10. 38 - 13 now. 5:00 left until the half. Getting clobbered in every aspect of the game. Can't defend the three point shot. 7 turnovers ain't helping at all. Looks like the Huskers have gave up.
  11. Highlights from our best game of the season so far!
  12. I read that too and also was surprised by the statement. Not sure if it's factual not or if he just added that to make his point more clear. It wouldn't surprise me though if they did have powerhouse coaches interested in the position. What would irritate me though is if they did have other coaches banging on the door and they didn't give them the time of day to be interviewed. Connie Yori built the Nebraska job as a place coveted by many coaches in her time here. The 2009-2010 season proved you can win here. Basically you have here one of the best facilities in wbb, great recruiting resources, top notch fan support and a state of the art arena to play in. Lots of coaches envy that.

GAME NOTES: BEAT THE WOLVERINES!
  15. I forgot to mention in this thread earlier, but I thought the Bathdogs performed one of the best renditions of our national anthem we've heard in quite a few years before the women's game against Indiana!!
  16. Husker women's basketball radio show on air at 7:00 o'clock tonight.
  17. I think it basically came down to a fantastic recruiting job by Coach Williams.
  18. Got to disagree with whoever told you that. She's played seven years now for the North Tartan Titans AAU team. Not everyone can send their kids there. To be on this team, it's an invite only and the only Nike club team in Minnesota. The exposure this team gets annually is phenomenal, they go all over the nation playing in big AAU tournaments attended by hundreds of college coaches. They also host a big Nike tournament in Minnesota every summer where something like 300 college coaches attend. Just this last year they went to Europe and played teams in France and the Netherlands. The Gophers usually get first pick as many of the team players have aspirations of playing for Minny. The Gophers like to load up on North Tartan kids last season 4 of the 5 starters had played for North Tartan including Rachel Banham and Shane Mullaney.
  19. Darrien has a strained ligament in her knee and is day to day.
  20. Her decision came down to between Nebraska & Iowa. Indiana was also recruiting her so she took her official visit here for the Indiana game since Iowa didn't play in Lincoln this season. She comes from a Minnesota powerhouse team, in Minnetonka High School, She was a high school teammate of Wisconsin's freshman starter, Courtney Fredrickson, who by the way torched us in Wisconsin a week or so ago with 15 points and ten rebounds. Only rated as a 3 star but has potential to develop as she grows into the NU system. Should get ample playing time as a freshman here though. Hence one of the reasons to choose the Huskers over Iowa. I think she's been a Nebraska lean since she was down last fall for the Minnesota football game and witnessed the atmosphere surrounding it. The atmosphere at the Indiana game last Sunday at PBA helped trigger her to tell the coaches. Her older sister plays volleyball for St. Louis University. Has a younger sister to I believe still in jr high.
  21. A little late on the boxscore too as it wouldn't embed properly either.
