  1. To compare to Nebraska's high schools DeKalb High which she attends would probably be in Class C-1. This year they had an enrollment of just under 1900 students.
  2. Here's a little bit more info on Leigha. As I gather more I'll post it.
  3. New target has emerged, she visited Nebraska this weekend. Leigha Brown (18') I believe her first name is pronounced "leah-a" - 6'1 guard from Auburn Ind. Attends DeKalb High School in Waterloo Ind.
  4. One to keep an eye on? We'll see. I found out yesterday from a few South Sioux City fans at Pinnacle Bank Arena that South Sioux sophomore McKenna Sims is on Nebraska's radar. And that NU has been up to watch her play. I would have watched her more intently had I found out that piece of information before the game instead of after. I only got to see her play in the championship against Norris where she scored 11 points. Feisty player, the program had her listed at 5'8.
  5. Yes, I went last night you'd be hard pressed to keep me away from attending any state tournament games boys or girls. I made the choice to go to the Class A tournament in Pinnacle Bank arena. On hind sight I probably should have went to Class B in Devaney as there turned out to be a pretty exciting finish between Elkhorn South and Seward. I saw Omaha Northwest and Millard West which turned out to be a pretty good game and then watched Lincoln East and Pius. East was playing catch-up most of the game, Pius was pretty much in control the whole game. I'll probably go to the Class A semi-finals tonight and watch Southwest and Northeast and the Minter kid and then stay and catch the Millard West - Pius game, if all goes to plan. I would have liked to see Lincoln Christian too as some in the media claim the Crusaders are the best team in the state this year but they're playing now as I type this against Wahoo Bishop Neumann. That could turn out to be one of the best games today. But some of us have to work during the day.....bummer!
  6. I hope the coaches and team read the following quote. I think it's was the whole league's presumed attitude about Nebraska this season. http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/sports/college/msu/womens-basketball/2017/03/02/reimer-msu-women-looking-extended-stay-indy/98555496/
  7. I'm all about the defense too, I find myself more intently watching that than I do the offense during games. If you can play a good solid defense you can win a lot of games. The coaches had to play a lot of zone this year because we had to many players who couldn't stop the dribble drive, especially when they're were in the man to man. That's coincides with why we had too many players giving up open 3 point shots. They didn't want to get beat off the dribble so they guarded their opponent five feet off them so they might have a chance at stopping that drive, that and our help defense has been missing in a lot of games. I think it should be one of the big emphasis that the coaches need to address with all returning players all through-out this coming off season.
  8. Great game by our two freshmen Hannah and Nicea. Absolutely no reason we should be on our way back home tonight. It's hard win with the lack of hustle, costly turnovers and quite possibility the worst 3 point shot defense we've had in the past twenty years! I can't remember one of Illinois' 3 point shots that was contested by a Husker, just unbelievable. I thought for sure we'd come away with a win, we had the offensive output we needed to get the win, but then I was expecting a lot more out of our defense, more like what we seen last Sunday against Michigan St.

  11. I'm in the same boat you are my friend. Hate picking against Big Red! NU - 69 MU - 67
  12. I have to agree too with Nicea getting overlooked, I think Nicea would have been a better choice for the All B1G defensive team with the fantastic season she put in the books, but that award almost always goes to upper classmen. I'll bet if you questioned half of these voters most wouldn't even know who Nicea is, let alone what she accomplished on the court including the coaches. When it comes to post season awards it's all about what you did on the offensive side. That's why I was hoping Hannah would get some kind of recognition.
  13. Results are out now Jessica S makes the second team and sadly no mention of Hannah on the freshman team.
  14. The Big Ten conference is in the process of announcing their post season awards. I would guess that Jessica Shepard would make their 2nd or 3rd all Big Ten team roster. And would be disappointed if Hannah W doesn't get some sort of recognition on the freshman all conference team. That being said they handed out their team sportsmanship award this afternoon for each team and the recipient from the Huskers is just who you thought it would be ........Emily Wood!
  15. The Big Ten 2017 Woman's basketball tournament is upon us. Our 13th seeded Huskers will play the #12 seed Illinois Wednesday afternoon at 12:30, the game will be air on BTN. Looking at the bracket if the Huskers played like they did yesterday they could win three games, wouldn't that be nice. Hope they go into this tournament with grit and determination. Don't want to see us enter the tourney with a defeated mentally.
  16. Fans give yourself a pat on the back!! MSU head coach Suzy Merchant said she was disappointed that her veteran players on the team didn't response and step up to the tough environment you get when playing at places like PBA. Thought NU played with a lot more effort and energy than her Spartans.
  17. Sam Haiby (2018)...remember the name. She was one of the recruits that visited yesterday. Outstanding scorer. Plays for the Moorhead Spuds located in the northwest par of Minnesota. She's slid under the recruiting services radar but still is attracting quite a few D-1 schools. Sounds as if the Husker have been on her list for quite a while now as the coaches started recruiting her when she was a freshman in high school. the following video is the game recently against Husker recruit Kayla Mershon's Minnetonka team. Kayla is number 15 for Minnetonka and Sam's number 4 for Moorhead. On a side note she also is a pitcher and outfielder for the Moorhead boys baseball team and last year had a 2-1 record on the mound.
  18. Damaged goods? She's blew out her knee twice now. I watched her play a few times and I'm not sure how the recruiting services had her rated so high. Her play reminded me of Hannah Trvdy.
  19. Took a while to get free chicken! The last home game as a matter of fact. Hannah 's 3 point shot in overtime did the trick.
  20. The presser with Coach, Jessica and Hannah.
