  1. Primo Spears from Georgetown is in the portal according to that list. He is a guy I’d be interested in.
  2. There is that, but I still think the bigger and more controllable part is scheduling. Being in the Big 10, and playing Creighton every year, we should be playing more of a Bill Snyder inspired non con schedule. If you take 2 of the 4 games and schedule a school for the blind in there, we are in the NIT at 18-14: St John’s (assuming this was a Gavitt game so we are playing this one) Memphis Oklahoma K-State With how tough our conference slate is, we should be playing Creighton and one other team with a pulse in my opinion. We will have a pretty good SOS based on our conference alone.
  3. Man good on you for never giving up and sticking around. I’ve been a fan since the 80’s so you’ve put in more time than me. The majority of the time it has been frustrating to be a fan with a few moments of hope sprinkled in. I really hope us long suffering fans get to see that first NCAA win. Especially the guys who have hung in there as long as you.
  4. There were a lot of posts like this last offseason. We took a massive step forward this season. Next season depends heavily on us getting two guys who can replace Griesel and Walker. I don’t think it is unreasonable we might get a couple really good guys. With a dead man walking coach we got Sam, Gary, Bando and by all accounts could have gotten Keyante Johnson if our medical staff cleared him. I don’t think it is doom and gloom time unless we strike out in the transfer portal. And even then Minnesota has reservations for last place already made.
  5. Absolutely. And 2 of Northwesterns top kids transferred to Duke and UNC. I thought they were in trouble before the season started. Pretty amazing how the other kids stepped up for them.
  6. Honestly it would be amazing if we had any kids who were big NU basketball fans growing up here. We have rarely been good during their lifetime. Thank goodness Sam loved the hometown team. We really need to string some winning seasons together to get this next generation of local kids excited about Husker hoops.
  7. I would love it if we could get Joel Soriano since they fired Mike Anderson. He’s a man in the paint
  8. Word on the street is he doesn’t get along great with the new AD
  9. I like him as a player. He also seems like a good kid watching his demeanor on the court and the sidelines. I’d be happy if he was interested
  10. Well THAT didn’t make me feel better.
  11. I liked Lakes a lot. If he would have been on this year’s team he would have helped a ton off the bench. He would have fit in well with this edition of Nebraska basketball. Would have been great playing Breidenbach’s minutes. I think he had a game this year where he hit something crazy like 10 3’s. I believe it’s all moot because if I remember correctly he had to transfer to get an extra year of eligibility.
  12. Yep. Stupid metric in my opinion. Promotes running up the score versus letting your kids deep on the bench play and get experience when games are essentially over. I don’t like overdoing the out of conference…if we scheduled 3 more layups our season looks much different. 19-13 on paper looks much better than 16-16 and nothing really changed other than who we played.
  13. It’s an interesting debate about the merit of logging minutes against lesser competition. I tend to go back and forth but when you see a lot of guys transfer from smaller schools to bigger schools, such as Sam Griesel and Baylor Schierman, would they have been the players they are today if they had rode the pine at a power 5 program? I personally think that getting 3 seasons of major minutes at smaller schools allowed them to develop into the players they are today. I just don’t think anything compares to game experience.
  14. Not sure why so many people are opposed to one of the pay tournaments. I liken it to football teams getting an extra month of practice when they make a bowl. Great time to develop young players. I personally think Breidenbach needs all the minutes of game action he can get to continue developing. Dana Altmans first year at Oregon they played McDermotts first Creighton team in the title game. Both coaches were building their programs. And used those extra games as a springboard. Seemed to work pretty well for those 2 programs.
  15. His lowest win total in 4 years at St John’s was 16. They boat raced us this year.
  16. One thing about I like about Oleg is whenever he gets on the court, I never see him make blatant bone-headed plays. At a minimum he seems like he will be a decent backup center. Not sure what his ceiling is but I like him as a role player.
  17. People will hate this comparison but his film reminds me of Kalkbrenner from Creighton. He is skinnier and more mobile but basically does the same things: protects the rim, finishes around the rim on feeds from his teammates, and generally seems to have very good timing on blocking shots. Neither guy seems to have polished post moves. He *might* have better shooting range than Kalk. Hard to tell after a couple short clips. All that said, would LOVE to have a rim protector like young Mr. Bol in this defense we play now (or at any other time I suppose). When is the last time we had a guy like that? Kimani Ffriend? I hope he had a great time visiting this weekend.
  18. The way we are playing we could make a run in the BIG tourney. A lot of it will depend on matchups. We don’t seem to do well against Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Northwestern. It will be interesting to see how the final standings shake out.
  19. I had high hopes that the newcomers would help flip our culture but it has gone even better than I ever could have hoped for. I think this is the kind of story Sam Griesel was hoping for in his one year here. What a great group of seniors!
  20. Idk. With his build and the way he plays hoops, I bet he’d be a pretty decent safety.
  21. I am pretty sure they told his defender to NEVER leave him. I don’t think the guy covering helped on defense once all game. Keisei did a good job not trying to force things. I saw him only take one shot that I would call forced.
  22. Daaaaaaaaaamn. That is some impressive explosion. Funny how that works with most Nebraska kids to your point.
  23. Got him right where we want him. Portal target in 2 years.
