I’m curious. Comparing 3 squads from last 10 years
Dean Smith replied to TourneyBound's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Both very good players but I don’t think TP and Palmer could co-exist for a season. I think 17-18 by far the most talented starting five but had no bench. My combined would be: Watson Keisei JPJ Roby Copeland We play an 8 1/2 man rotation now. Rice the 1/2. So my bench is: Mast (might send Roby to the bench vs big teams) Gary Thomas Shields Everyone could shoot the three, size, physicality, Mast is the least athletic which means you’re solid. -

First of all it seems that everyone is mixing and matching which is fine, but not the op’s question. The no bench is a big factor because 17-18 didn’t really have one but probably had the best five. And to me people are sleeping on Copeland. His combination of skills and athleticism is probably one of the best to play here. -
uneblinst's postgame chatter: vol 16; ed 20 - Ohio State

I don't think Keisei had a bad game, he wasn't given a game. I'm not second guessing anything, especially looking at how things turned out, but he has had plenty of games start like that and then explode. Defensively I think he was Keisei. He got his hands on a couple balls and fouls were called that weren't really sending him to the bench. He only took 6 shots the whole game. I'm sure Ohio State would have been excited going in if they knew Keisei would be held to 6 shots. We don't need him to carry the offense this year and that's a good thing, but he can still carry the offense if given the chance. -

No self-respecting hooper doesn’t take the heat check -
Post game press conference - Josiah was asked about his reaction to Keisei's late three and he responded with "We're subbing offense to defense so I was right at the table, but who know what I could have done with that shot." Not serious but he's so natural he should look into media after his playing days are over.

That was my comment earlier - it’s all subjective. Whether people want to admit it or not there is no way of really “proving” anything. -

I admit to age bias, everyone thinks the music and sports were better in their day. The league used to be 23 teams. We are now at 30. That’s over an extra 100 slots. From my perspective I see players that start or are big rotation players from championship teams today that wouldn’t be good enough to even be on a team in a 23 team league. -

Or… the same stat could be used to show the defense is getting worse. It’s subjective. -

I think the difference is no Walker. Same cuts just no delivery. Mast is Ok but not Walker and Allick looked at a couple cuts that KT was wide open on and just didn't pull the trigger. A couple were so obvious that he could hear the crowd make a collective groan. -
CJ also hit the side of the backboard. Gary needs to go to the basket more I agree but he has a completely different shot than last year. His FT’s are just under 70% and after the last game he is still shooting about 38% from three. Even in the last game he shot 33%. So attack the basket more but he still can catch and shoot within the offense.

Horrible judgement, yes. Unforgivable, yes. He’s also one of the US top 6 or 7. Take his punishment whatever that is - probably won’t get called up for the next camp because he can’t play with the red. If we have any chance to be competitive in the Copa we need a well-heeled Dest at left back. If we can smooth over the Gio controversy, we can make this work as well. -

As as recovering Nebraskaball fan I have hit rock bottom watching the first half. The defense is lackluster against a bad offensive team and we couldn’t score in a house of ill repute right now. Thought I would get the pessimistic panic attack out of the way earlier this year. -

Add Keisei and Gary and you’re at a 10 man rotation. I don’t think we’re going to play a 10 man rotation. Add those two and he’s not in the top 8. Minutes should be limited for Hoiberg and Rice. Both of them are ok players. We simply have 8 better players then those two and that’s a good thing. -

autocorrect - I think Wood is testifying against Trump so I don’t think he qualifies as a trump supporter in or out of the closet. -

Linwood is basically UNK so good yes, but can’t get carried away -
Ya I knew that but to me there’s a huge difference between depression and not being motivated to play. That’s why I said maybe it was just the way he worded it that I found troubling.

I must of missed that. I know a lot of people jumped to the conclusion of a failed drug test. And maybe it’s just the way you phrased it that seems so off putting.
