Gotta get more athletic. Last 2 games hammered that point home.

Pillen's statement is just cover for the fact he helped bring all this uprising into play ... Trev is just a casualty. Green and Carter were pushed out, that was the main goal ... Trev probably realized he'll be working for a vetted puppet and not necessarily the best choice for the job and thus his authority was going to be minimized.

I’d read what Terry Pettit has to say about ALL this if you’re not afraid of hearing the truth.

We could have hired Dana Altman as an assistant when Danny took over, but didn't. He went to Kansas State instead - and took Mitch Richmond with him.

I bet Williams and Gary are about to go off in the Big 10 Tournament.  Gary for sure should be on the list somewhere for his ability to do everything.  Without Williams and Gary this team is a bottom dweller again this year.

4 Iowa players (5 Total) on the Media Honorable Mention, but no Gary or Williams.  I hope they both take this personally

But it's so hard not to hope Wisconsin loses every game they play, plus a few more.

I am thinking about these scenarios way too much. But I just want a four seed to avoid a bad loss and - according to everyone - we’re in if we win these last two. But when we get the double bye, all I’m going to do is look up possible opponents and path to Sunday. This is a vicious cycle.

I've never been sure who annoys me more - the guy who always thinks it's the refs fault, or the guy who refused to acknowledge how much officiating impacts the game.

You can’t expect to shoot more free throws every time when you jack up 3s at a league leading rate.

I have to give Fred credit with the re-boot he made. I wasn't sure he had it in him to make the changes he did and get a bit more re-engaged with talent acquisition. We have chose REALLY wisely in the portal for the most part (Uhlis may end up being a good choice, but it wasn't this year for certain). Maybe some of this is a bit of luck. Some will fight me on this but we were still a bit underfunded as far as NIL and I'm hoping this season will push that to another level yet.

I think culture is the main thing and it seems like we've committed to being tough minded and defensive ... I think the character of our guys is really showing through and permeates the culture - Mast, Gary, Williams, Hoiberg even as a walk on, and Allick. I feel like it's been a bit of fake it till we made it and we still seem a bit vulnerable mentally but it's improved. Being experienced and older than the rest of the league has paid off.

And the schedule was designed well for what they thought they had ... I'd imagine it's gone better than Hoiberg and the basketball admin even thought it could. I think Alberts and Hoiberg's values align fairly well. Again, I will give kudos to Fred because I wasn't sure he had a reboot in him or the overall hunger to do so but he has proven me wrong. Let's see how we can sustain this.

I suppose the administrative support and engagement has to be mentioned as well. The entire athletic department is in a way different place. While I have my concerns about Trev in some ways, he has seemed to have done a good job leading and building an overall culture in the athletics department.

The other big factor is our schedule.
We had a cupcake non con for the most part and avoided playing Purdue, Sparty and Illinois twice.
KenPom has us ranked 69th in strength of schedule which is 13th in the Big Ten.
Honestly, we probably had the easiest Big Ten schedule in terms of matchups.

I'm just glad we took advantage of it!

Playing the 342nd toughest non-conference schedule helps.

Conference standings really mean nothing to the committee. We should worry more about our resume than about where we finish in the league. The only benefit to the double bye from a resume perspective is we likely avoid an opportunity for a bad loss.

With that said it is not good for Michigan State and Wisconsin to lose. Those are our 2nd and 3rd best wins. They need to remain impressive, and absolutely need to remain in Q1.

Yeah when Wisconsin and Iowa play it’s like, you wanna kiss your sister? Or your other sister? And I grew up north of the Mason-Dixon Line, so neither is ever going to sound good.
