"Don't bring me down" was by ELO. "Don't let me down" was by the Beatles.  Both are appropriate!  Sorry Bug, could not resist.

There very little scouting and almost zero game prep in AAU ball and at times very little defense. It is easier to play against teams that don't prep for you and try to take away what you do best.

Steve Kerr is a very smart man!  Could not agree more.  Still amazing college coaches put such an emphases on AAU ball when they evaluate an athlete.  I know a big part is the period that they are allowed contact with the players is during the AAU season but it is making the game worse in my opinion.

Omaha Central has agreed to play Winnebago (Chandler and Behrens against the Indians' Wingett) in the 2016-17 basketball season.#nebpreps

There is some talk of a double header with Omaha South v Norfolk at the same site.  Not sure if it will happen but a possibility right now. If it does you could watch Arop, Wingett, Strom, Chandler and Behrens all at once.

Did I hear my name?  I'm N but I think I'm out of eligibility.  (along with being out of shape, out of youth, out of bounds, out of size and anything else you could think of)

    Had a Nebraska offer:

Arkansas freshman Jimmy Whitt will transfer, per release. Former Top-50 player. Huge loss for the Razorbacks.

Do you guys really think that teams are stalling that much in high school basketball today?  I see a lot of games and don't see it as an issue.  I always felt that if you have guards that are good enough to stall for long periods, they are good enough to score.  I think it is part of the game and like to watch disciplined teams look for good shots.  The game is not always just for the fans.  To me it is like telling a football team that running the ball is boring so you have to pass on every down.

Great coaching job by Scott Padgett. With the new shot clock I'm surprised more teams don't use a variety of presses to keep teams off balance and shorten the game by forcing teams to start their offense with 15 seconds or less on the shot clock. One of the most frustrating games I have ever watched and I give Samford a ton of credit.

Probably because he is still just a Sophomore and like most Sophomores he still has to get better at some things. He has a chance to be really good but he is skinny and not a guy who go to the block and score on big posts and his ball handling will need to get better. He is a streak shooter as well. (Understand that I'm comparing him as a high school Soph to what it takes to play in the Big Ten)

Change had 26 & 12 boards against Norfolk Friday night. 5 of 8 from three. Couple were deep bombs.

The concern with "going small" will be on the defensive end of the court.  I think we can create match up issues on offense, but defending the post will obviously be an issue.  Coach Miles will probably have to mix in more zone this year to keep teams off balance and will have to have a great deal of ball pressure on the perimeter when we are man to prevent easy entry into the post. Might even see a little more full court stuff.

Since he has been mentioned in a couple of other threads I'm starting one just for him.  He is a 6' 8" center/power forward from Norfolk High.  He has had a number of non-official visits and does not hold an offer (yet?) but he is definitely on their radar.  Not sure if he has been given a star rating by any recruiting services but big guys with his skill set do not come around very often in this state so he is one to keep an eye on.
