Things aren’t going to change with starting lineup or substitution patterns.  We are a middle of the pack team.  I don’t see postseason play unless it’s the WNIT.

I think there's a case on the starting lineup, but, yes a middle of the pack team. 18-11, 10-8, needing to win 1 or 2 at Big Tens to make NCAAs.

it's great darian white chose the huskers............however, i still think a proven perimeter shooter was essential. just my opinion.

They need both, IMO, and an enforcer post, too.

White will help, tho. If she can get to the rim with consistency, draw fouls, make FTs, that's a big boost. Plus, she can defend and she'll bring a note of toughness.

I believe that today is the last day that a NCAA women's basketball athlete can enter the portal.  If we haven't heard anything by midnight, then the entire last year team (Brady & Dillard ???) has decided to stay put.  As Neb Nets points out, that is quite a tribute to the culture and morale within the program.

Brady and Dillard would not be a part of the active roster, and Dillard may graduate with another degree by August

Agree about Maggie M. As little as Maggie played this year, it’s almost like she wasted a year of her eligibility and could have instead taken a valuable redshirt year.

Well, she may not be just hanging out here a year after her collegiate VB playing days are over.

At any rate, what she's trying to do - at 17 no less - is really, really hard. Jennifer Hamson probably did it best among college players. Cepero did it best at Nebraska. And she was a pretty spectacular athlete.

To be clear, I think she oughta play more in the NIT. But who knows if that'll happen.

Some of us WBB fans feel that the Lincoln/Omaha media are professional Amy Williams apologists, unwilling to put her feet to the fire and ask her the hard hitting questions.  So the fact that you can at least acknowledge that the current state of Amy’s program is disappointing is actually a bit encouraging. Thank you.

The record's only a 2-3 games worse than I had anticipated at this point- the schedule is legitimately tough - but it's a frustrating team to watch.

Not sure comparing Amy's and Connie's first years are that much alike.

If the average fan looks at Connie's first roster, not sure they will recognize any names, other than a couple of volleyball players.

Amy had Shepard, Simon, Whitish, Cincore, Eliely....

I'm not advocating firing Williams.  Just don't agree with your post.

Well, to each their own, but they might not remember because it was 20 years ago. Since this is some sort of rabbit hole debate, I hesitate to point out the good players on Connie's first team because then it'll turn into "well, they weren't as good as x, y and z."

At any rate, nothing that happened in Williams' first year has any bearing on the current disappointment.

Below is Amy's Big Ten win/loss record in the conference.   This pretty much confirms that she is a mediocre coach with more losses than wins!  NE should at least have more wins than losses over time.

Amy Williams Big 10 (14)  Conference Records
      Wins   Losses
    16-17 3 13
    17-18 11 5
    18-19 9 9
    19-20 7 11
    20-21 9 10
    21-22 11 7
    Totals 50 55

    Thus far 22-23
      6 9

Counting the first year is a waste of time. It's like counting Connie's first year.

Simply got beat by a better coached team, and she made adjustments going into the 2nd half.  And with quickness from their guards we couldn't keep up...they were to quick..and didn't quit.

We looked like ran out of gas too...and poor perimeter defense in second half. Too bad, we certainly had a good chance tonight.

No question the team's a little tired. Hard schedule, tough Big Ten, no Weidner, three really physical teams in a row...just where it is.

Would like to see Weidner take more than three shots. She is good at the FT line. Sometimes you need to call your own number a little more often. She can be a three level offensive player for us as well as Jaz. That could take up the missed Haiby drives she is known for.

Agreed. She was well-defended, but agreed.

Nebraska just wasn't very ready for that good of a team, especially that good of a defense. And there 3-5 minutes of standing around before the tipoff because the teams came out too soon, or something and...yeah. Nebraska wasn't ready. It's not Houston Baptist. You can't just throw 25-foot lobs and entry passes to posts.

keeping everyone happy with playing time .. that's my worry.  We lost four guards (Scoggins, Porter, Cayton, and Brown) and so far are planning to add just two (Hake and Krull) so that makes six (Shelly, Wiedner, Haiby, Moriarty, Hake, and Krull) which is a lot. Add in the possibility that two long injured guards will return and that becomes a log jam.

Well, it's possible Haiby and Shelley are in their last years, too. Haiby obviously is, and if Shelley can't easily benefit from NIL because of her international status...somebody's gonna pay her good money to play pro basketball.

So, say they leave after this year, it's Krull, Weidner, Moriarty, Hake, and maybe Dillard/Brady, the ND kid, and portal.

Krull's a massive add. She has 3 years, will do a little of everything, probably plays 20-25 minutes per game. And will be one of the team's best workers.
