To my wife's disgust I was screaming for FH to call a timeout in the second half when Minnesota was about one third into its massive comeback but he did not and would not call the TO until NU was already decimated.

FH has a pattern of simply watching NU meltdown and not calling TO's until it's too late.

My dad and I went to this game. We were lucky to sit as high up in the old gym as possible cuz it was a rare sell out.

I was 14 years old and a budding point guard…loved Fred Hare. Smoking was allowed back then and from up high it was a little difficult to see through the smokey haze.

As I remember it MU was #1 and had Cazzie Russell and Oliver Darden and the game was 1 to 3 point spreads thru out.

When MU inbounded the ball on the side fans would literally pull at the hairs on the MU players legs to irritate them as there was barely room for them to get their feet out of bounds.

Freddie let go of his desperation shot he realized he shot way sooner then need be and he saw where it would go when it banged off the rim. He followed his shot…imagine that!

He rebounded it and with time running out he threw it over his head from about 2 feet away without looking. Nothing but net. MU players laid on the floor as the fans stormed the floor.

One of my best memories ever!

bkamler got a reaction from basketballjones in Baylor Scheierman
Scheierman from South Dakota State is supposedly in the portal and Washut thinks NU will try to get this 6’6 guard from Aurora.

I looked at SDS schedule and extracted Scheierman’s stats from the 7 games they played against legit D1 teams including Providence in NCAA tournament and here’s what I found:

36 Average minutes played per game
    5 for 12 shooting
    3/6 from 3
    3/4 from line
    7 rebounds
    3 assists
    2 turnovers
    14.4 points per game
    Sophomore in eligibility

Looks like a good get to me if we can pull it off.

bkamler got a reaction from jason2486 in uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 14; ed 32 - Big Ten Tournament, vs. Northwestern
Second half we got out hustled big time which could have been addressed during a much needed ass chewing timeout and we got out coached big time.

The 3-2 zone hurt us and Fred refused to call a timeout to show our guys how to attack it. Fred never calls timeouts when an obvious run has started against us.

This game was so winnable if FH coached a littke.

bkamler got a reaction from Silverbacked1 in Alberts meets with Hoiberg and Huskers are playing lights out since then!
Starting with the Iowa game which was a well played loss and then a 3 game win streak with an astonishing win over Wisky in a 5 vs 8 game since that meeting.

Did TA get in FH’s grill or challenge his coaching manhood or did the players feel like they almost got their coach fired and needed to play balls to the wall or did they relax and play with nothing to lose knowing FH was not fired?

Whatever occurred I’m elated and getting some hope back. Todays win was phenomenal!
