  1. This is a completely inaccurate statement about the Big East and how teams are chosen in general. Dimes I always respect your opinion, but I'm curious as to why you blasted my opinion. What has the Big East done since they became the new Big East? And you don't think conference opinion plays a part? Look at previous SEC teams have been neglected because of their conference not being great overall. Didn't one of their teams win their division and get left out of the Dance a couple of years ago? I want to say it was Georgia.
  2. Prayers to Nick and his family. He is a great up-and-Comer in the sports talk world. Hopefully he can make a full recovery and live a long, healthy life with his family.
  3. In most years I think you would be correct. Not this year though. If we win out that gives us 3 top 50 wins...4 top top 100 wins. We would need to do some damage in the Big Ten Tournament. Look at our friends in Omaha...some pundits don't even have them on the bubble right now and they may very well end up with 11 Big East wins. The issue will be that out of those 11 wins...maybe only 2-3 were against top 50 teams. I think the reason that creighton is on the outside of the bubble is that the Big East is not perceived as a great conference. To me, it is a major "mid major conference." I hate to admit it, but they have been playing decent lately. Hopefully there little run comes to an end tonight.
  4. I don't know how to link it, but he came on an unofficial during the south alabama fb game. His pic with Miles can be seen on Chang's first page of his thread.
  5. I remember watching 1 of wisconsin's games last week, and they were wearing red jerseys at home that honored 1 of their former coaches. The jerseys have to do with black history month. They said that Nigel Hayes wanted to wear these red jerseys for the entire month. I wonder and hope if we will wear our throwbacks from Saturday?!
  6. We can make the NCAA by winning the conference tournament. The NIT might be hard even if we win out.But getting to 17 or 18 wins would be a nice end to the season and certainly make us attractive to the CBI, especially with our home attendance! I would love to get another crack at Creighton. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk I could be wrong, but if we won out (highly unlikely, but we can dream!), I'd have a hard time believing they'd leave us out of the ncaa tourney. We would be on an 8-game winning streak in the B1G. That's gotta be worth something. And at that point, we'd be a lock for the NIT for sure. Our rpi is trash. The projections for if we win out barely get us in the top 100.Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk I get that, but those are projections. Other team's projections will change as well. Our RPI could be very different depending on how others do down the stretch.

  8. I don't mind the thought of Bakari getting some extended minutes. I'm not claiming he's the next Petteway or White, but I've liked some of the things he can do, especially his passing. He is quick, athletic, and his high school videos show that he can shoot the ball. I'm also wanting to see Morrow and Jacobson on the court together. I know that Miles tends to not do that, and I'm assuming it's because they are both trying to play the 5, but I would love to see them at the 4/5 together. These guys are D1 athletes, so I don't think conditioning should be a huge issue. I guess Morrow's foot/feet could be a problem though.
  9. Looking at who Crayton "beat out" for this kid, his season ending injury could be why others possibly didn't pursue as hard as before. It doesn't sound like Kansas fans are too heartbroken. But now we probably have to hear "We beat out KU for a player" from our neighbors along the Missouri River.
  10. I think some are being too hard on TP. If any of us had the off-court season he had last season, I'm guessing we would've also showed some of the frustrations he showed throughout the year. It's easy to pick on a player who is as emotional as TP, especially one who wears his emotions on his sleeves. Although it can only be speculation, I would've loved to see this team with TP in the lineup. We would've been scary good I believe. Think about the games where we need someone to get us a bucket. And with our 2-2-1 press and his 6'11 wingspan, our transition game would also be spectacular. Also, remember how badly he wanted to get us to a Sweet 16. I truly believe he was all N.
  11. Let's not give up on a magical run this last month and a half! NCAA tourney IS the goal!
  12. A double from twelve feet away with a 5'8" guy when they are running a two man game... Never going to work. It will work when the post puts the ball on the floor which most do. There are times when a coach will tell a player not to help off who they are guarding but in the big picture of your normal defensive rotations, it was the second rotation that was the problem not the first. We weren't "helping the helper" fast enough. They need to start rotating as soon as the help goes to the post, not on the catch. I usually tried to help from the perimeter but one pass away from the passer to not give the easy return pass to the post feeder. When teams are spaced correctly the whole thing is very difficult no matter where you help from.Lots of good points made, but let's go back to the original question. I don't think we were going to get beat one on one in the post with shields down low. He wasn't covering diamond stone, so let him go one on one and not have to worry about rotations and a potential wide open three point shot.
  13. He struggled at times, but he scored 10 and was able to get to the rim and not get blocked every time. He is so crafty. If he's healthy, no question he should've been in there. He may have been hurt late after Melo undercut him (wish the refs would've went to the monitor like they do for blows to the head).
  14. One of the most telling stats is Shields and Webster combining for 5-22 from the field. They are 2 of our 3 best players, so we can't have them both struggling. I thought Shields could've lived at the foul line during parts of this game, but the refs didn't agree with me unfortunately. And it is hard to see how right or wrong refs are when watching in the arena, so I try to keep that in perspective. Tai's turnover late was a head scratcher. Those 2 have been huge for us, so I'm confident they'll rebound and win us some games down the stretch. We have a good chance to go 3-1 these next 4 games.
  15. Of course they are hitting their 3s. And we drive almost every possession, draw contact, yet can't get many calls.
  16. Although some disagree, I felt like our 2-3 zone defense did some good things against Purdue. Going forward, do you like the idea of playing more 2-3 against teams that have really good post players? With our size, athleticism, and length with certain lineups, I believe the zone is a good look when trying to defend teams on the inside. If you can make most teams a jump shooting team, your chances of winning increase greatly. Obviously, we still would have to limit dribble penetration. As a coach, I believe both defenses are great depending on matchups, but when playing teams that will kill you inside, statistically it makes sense to force lower percentage shots.
  17. I disagree about the zone defense comment. Our best stretch of defense was when we went to the 2-3 zone. Unfortunately they hit some 3s they hadn't been hitting recently. I expect to see 2-3 more often against them in Lincoln. From a coaching standpoint, I like the zone packing it inside. Make teams beat you from the outside.
  18. Great effort by the guys today. Like most have said, our inability to stop the interior did us in. Take away their bigs, Purdue scores 27.
  19. Great effort, as many have said, it's just too bad we didn't get a little better start to both halves. I hope that PBA magic isn't totally gone, but as others have said, we have no home court advantage right now, which is baffling. I feel better when we are on the road. I wonder if our young players feel that way too right now? Maybe they are more relaxed and loose, playing like they have nothing to lose on the road as opposed to not wanting to let the fans down when they are at home.
  20. I find it somewhat surprising that only one future NBA player was on that list!
  21. Duke just dropped their 3rd straight tonight to a Syracuse team who started 0-4 in conference. It was also at home! Let's give Sparty that same experience. It can happen!
