It does sound a bit like that. I think Cale is more skilled than Griesel out of high school. I think Griesel is one of the better athletes on the team, though. Which allows him to be a very good defender. For some reason, his defense has gone greatly underappreciated. I don't think he's that far off from Gary and Bandoumel. In fact, Torvik's defensive metrics have him as being the best defender on the team by a good amount.

Sam is similar to Charlie Easley in that they are real quick-twitch athletes with high motors who are also great catch and shoot three point shooters. Neither need the ball in their hands. These things allow them to play a role and play up to the speed of the game at this level. Cale is a big, strong point guard who does all the things you described. He lacks lateral quickness and isn't a great shooter (although his mechanics are fine). Cale struggled with turnovers in AAU ball and wasn't able to do the things he did at the Class B level. I think Cale would be an NAIA all-american. Sam's ceiling might be honorable mention all-conference at that level. Sam could be a solid four year role player at Nebraska, but I'm not sure Cale's game will translate.

Wisconsin beating Iowa moved them back to a quad 2 win for us (they were quad 3 for awhile). Now there are just 36 teams in the country with more quad 1/2 wins than Nebraska. There are just 26 teams that have zero quad 3/4 losses, and Nebraska is one of them. -

8-1 in games decided by ten or less. This team doesn’t get rattled in crunch time. -

Breidenbach needs to make the extra pass to Hoiberg there. Had a wide open three. -

Well, Maryland will definitely be another quad 1 game for us on Sunday. Just beat Purdue. -
Keisei lacks athleticism, but his movements, with and without the ball, are so decisive and quick. And that makes him PLAY fast. Which is all that really matters on the offensive end. Similar to Thor. Jay Wright and Gregg Popovich have a .5 second rule - within half a second of catching the ball you need to make a decision whether to shoot it, pass it or dribble it(either downhill or to make a better angle for a pass). This can be taught to an extent (and this team as a whole does a better job of it than any Husker team in a long time mostly because of the designed stuff we do in the halfcourt), but players like Keisei have an inherent feel for it. He's a coach's dream in that regard. And for Hoiberg, he's a coach's dream in that he has no conscious whatsoever shooting the ball. Hope we get him for one more year.

Steph Curry just tweeted at one of our players. That seems like a big deal. If Keisei ever played in the NCAA tournament, we would be the darling of the dance. Everyone except our opponent would be cheering for this kid. Being from Kansas, most of my friends are Jayhawk fans. Because of me they watch Husker sports. Keisei Tominaga is their favorite player in college basketball.

Gotta haves, portal or otherwise

Yeah, I think he's wrong about Traudt though. Not saying Traudt will end up at Nebraska, but they say he's not a fan of McDermott. Don't think it will be Creighton. To be fair to Washut, he seemed confident in his Sallis statement and said it was just a guess on Traudt. -

2023 SG Parker Friedrichsen -> Wake Forest...for now

We did offer him a whole year before Notre Dame did. He took at least three visits to Nebraska and said all along we were recruiting him as hard as anyone else was. -

Played around with the Big Ten tourney seed predictor thing. Had us going 9-11 and STILL playing on Wednesday. That's wild. Seeds 2-12 are all really close. 1, 13 and 14 are pretty much set. If only we had won that Purdue game... -

That's two road wins against NET top 25 teams. Everyone played well, but my game ball goes to Griesel. 12 points, 11 rebs, 5 assists, 1 turnover. 2-2 free throws in crunch time. And handled the press pretty well. -

They've shot 14 free throws to our 4. And we've been the more aggressive team offensively. -

Don't like the feel of this. Officiating inconsistent, calling touch fouls on us early in the half. And why was their athletic director on the court touching our players? -

Really love to see Walker schooling Omoruyi. Kid is good, but so cocky and such a whiner. -

Just like the Wisconsin game, when we don't turn the ball over we get good looks. Turnovers kill us. Biggest gripe with this team is we don't cherish the ball on every possession. -

I think there's a palpable difference in malicious booing and booing that's all in good fun. That wasn't malicious booing by any means. I'm pretty sure Chucky, as a competitor, loved it. I would have at that age. Chucky knows he's loved in Nebraska. Seems like the only people who had a problem with it are some overly soft adults.
