  1. yes that’s how all the blue bloods do it. We suck so bad we even suck at cheating.
  2. Can a program that has never been alive receive the death penalty? asking for a friend
  3. Oh I’m with you 100%. I know for a fact we’ve lost on a lot of Nebraska kids because we either showed no interest or we showed half-ass interest.
  4. Matt A doesn’t think Nebraska kids are very good.
  5. I also know from a good source that Trev and Fred don’t exactly see eye to eye on the whole Matt A “health” situation, so this isn’t exactly a relationship that’s off to a super great start.
  6. we all knew it would be an L, I get that. Here are all the teams that 8-1 Auburn has beaten by 30+ points this year: Nebraska.
  7. All I know is this. Trev said about Frost that the biggest thing he wanted to see was a team that plays hard, competes, and doesn’t quit. If that’s his barometer early in his tenure at Nebraska, then this staff should be feeling some pressure.
  8. We've thought and said that bout so many guys throughout the years. I'll believe it when I see it. Until then I'm assuming we've got another Moses Abraham or Duby Akeke on our hands. Would be nice if he lived up to expectations, but when does that happen for us.
  9. We have no clue on offense. We have no clue on defense. Years ago we couldn't have imagined a scenario where we had this type of talent on the same team at one time: Bryce McGowens ESPN #26 Keon Edwards ESPN #41 Wilhelm Breidenbach ESPN #77 CJ Wilcher ESPN #81 Alonzo Verge ESPN 4 star Derrick Walker ESPN 4 star And yet these guys would get their ass beat by Miles' 6-man team of Palmer, Watson, Roby, Borchardt, Thor and Trueblood that won 2 Big Ten Tournament games and was 4 points shy of the semifinals.
  10. I just don't understand the notion that people think we'll be better next year even with this "core" group being a year older. OK if you want to call the returning core group of young players: Wilhelm, Tominaga, Wilcher, Keon and Andre (Bryce isn't coming back), these are just OK players. From what I've seen this year as a whole these guys are no better than young players we've had going back to Collier and Doc and Miles. They can all be decent rotation players but they aren't going to carry us into the top half of the Big Ten by any stretch of the imagination. I don't think a single one of those guys has All-Big Ten type potential. Wilhelm would have to develop a LOT, and even then, I don't see anything better than an 11ppg and 6rpg guy as a senior. Every Big Ten team has good players. Every Big Ten team brings in highly regarded recruits. We have to do something different to separate ourselves. We've talked about wanting to build a program that relies on veteran upperclassmen who've been in the program for years and have a really good team every 3 or 4 years, and instead we have Abdelmassih's approach that is completely contrary to that. Bring 'em in, ship 'em out, rinse and repeat.
  11. Today's excuses: "Players were hurt and sick." Next week's excuse: "Players just couldn't hit shots. We'll have better shooters next year." The next week: "Players just couldn't rebound. We'll have better bigs next year." And around and round we go.
  12. Not according to many in this thread. Way too premature to talk about how this program has no chemistry, no passion, no teamwork, and generally no clue on either end of the floor. I'm sure it'll get fixed next year.
  13. 1.5 more years before we can evaluate this steaming pile of shit.
  14. I know, just being sarcastic. We are very bad. Glad Andy can say it on the radio.
  15. I think I’ve found a way to fix our 3 point woes. Rather than “waiting for the shots to start falling”, I propose we just remove some of the shots from happening. In particular I am looking at 4 “possession killers” aka any time they throw up a 3 it’s very likely to be a brick. Bryce 10-45 (your NBA draft stock would improve by missing far less from 3). Wilhelm 3-20 (that Colorado game was fun but we can’t have a big man shooting 15% from 3. Not only is that almost a guaranteed miss, it also removes a big man from having a chance at an offensive board). Keon 0-12 (I mean, 0-12. Enough said. You’re out there a few minutes per game, you’ll probably be out there more minutes by doing everything else well and simply not shooting). Lat 8-33 (this one is tough because it’s literally what he was brought here to do. But it’s not been getting done and hasn’t since he got here. If Lat is out there he will be shooting 3s, but I actually would prefer to see him on the bench and try anybody else. It’s not like Lat offers much else at either end of the court). there you have it, I’ve just removed 21-110 (19%) from this season. If these 4 haven’t taken a three in a game this year we are shooting 30.1% and rank a respectable 289th instead of 346th
  16. 3pt Attempts per Game: Nebraska 25.6 South Florida 19.7 Portland State 22.5 Missouri 20.3 Maine 20.3 maybe it’s time to Michael Jackson ourselves and take a look in the mirror and make a change.
  17. Bryce won’t be here next year. I don’t know where he’ll be, but he and Trey won’t be here. We always talk about getting a year older. And then players leave or get asked to leave, we bring in new young players, and just like that we’re young again with a bunch of fresh faces. Right now the only scholarship Fr/So I can confidently say will return next year are Wilhelm and Tominaga. Everyone else I could see a scenario where they don’t want to come back (lack of playing time, closer to home, weather, don’t want to wait around and develop, hate losing, etc.) That’s just how it is nowadays.
  18. Show me a post where someone said it’s “all verge’s fault” you can acknowledge he is a problem without implying he is the only problem. There are a hundred problems with this team. Verge isn’t excluded when he plays piss poor.
  19. Probably implying a little bit about the random mix of players he’s signing every year, and probably implying a little bit about the “health” issues that are self-inflicted and not really “health” related. Let’s just say the whole program needs to get its shit together.
  20. Verge is a poor man’s Russell Westbrook. Notice Westbrook is never on teams that win. But verge will be a decent guard off the bench in the NBA IMO. It seems like most of our 3s are guys dribbling into their 3pt shot and not catching and shooting. Bryce is nearly always pulling up off the dribble on every 3 attempt. Verge too. Keisei too. Wilcher is mostly a catch and shoot guy. But there’s way too much dribble dribble dribble pull up from 3. You’ll never be a high percentage team if that’s how you get your attempts. I do truly believe Fred wants his team to look like Michigan and Creighton moving the ball and getting wide open shots. But they just can’t do it. Part of the problem is that’s not how Verge and Bryce are wired. Part of the problem is not having a true point guard mentality. Part of the problem is no inside presence. Part of the problem is we can’t rebound and get in transition. And on and on…
  21. 100% agree Dave. This team is embarrassing. This staff should be embarrassed. For as “talented” as these players are supposedly on paper, they resemble the furthest thing from a good “team”. And I think that’s the biggest factor, it’s a collection of individuals with no chemistry or cohesion. It was pretty telling postgame when Kent asked Fred who are the leaders who will step up and try and right this ship and he said “Trey.” Well yeah there you go. We have one leader on this team and he’s in a boot in the corner.
  22. Can we just not. I’m going to try to forget what time this tips off and catch the box score later that day.
