I get your point - but that 1994 tournament was a magical 3 days - particularly for those of us that were there.

I had posted about 3 straight conference wins, with at least 1 on the road, with all by double digits, well that had happened about 8 years ago. Add one more game, and it's 112 years ago. Whoa. Props to Keith Mann for providing Shamus McKnight this particular historic Nebrasketball factoid. Let's add to this list in the next month... GBR!

You gotta love having a coach who doesn't have hair on his legs.  It means he has a lot of growth potential as a program builder.

HuskerCager reacted to HuskerBB in Andre Smith RIP
Just saw this.  Really sad to hear as Andre was truly a Husker basketball legend.  Loved watching him play - he was one who really enjoyed the game.   One of my clear Andre Smith memories is of him sitting on the bench after we had clinched a win and just having fun watching the scrubs finish the game.

Have to also say he was also a master of "dirty play" - he would often give someone a little shove or elbow when the ref wasn't looking and then when the other guy retaliated and got called for fouling Andre he would just give the opponent a knowing smile and go the the free throw line.

A couple of Andre's teammates - Jerry Shoecraft and Eric Williams have lived in Lincoln a long time.   I bet they have some great Andre Smith stories.   Wish they would jump on here and share.

Just looked at that 1980-81 roster - Andre's senior year and my freshman year at NU.  That team had alot of my husker favorites.   Andre and Mike Naderer as seniors.  Jack Moore, Jerry Shoecraft and Ray Collins and Juniors - and two of my all-time Husker favorites - Greg Downing and Claude Renfro were sophomores on that team.  Great memories !

Seems like we had an assoc. AD for hoops.

But then people who had no idea what he actually did assumed he wasn't doing a very good job of it, insisted he get fired, and, well, we no longer have an assoc. AD for hoops.

What would he bring?  I guess if he has great statewide relationships with local coaches and high schools, then maybe.  Otherwise I can't imagine this is a piece that gets us out of the Big Ten cellar.

When was the last time a D1 BB game had a 9-1 foul differential at any point in the game?  I'm guessing that isn't tracked

Is it fair to say that the main difference between pre Valentine's Day and post Valentine's Day Huskers is mental toughness?

On the brighter side, Fred to tapped into some Yogi-isms on his post game interview with Kent, just to make things more interesting.  Here are some highlights:

KP: This extends your losing streak against DI majors to 18 now.
FH: Yeah, It’s like déjà vu all over again.

KP: Were you suprised by the crowd attendance today, considering your team's record?
FH: No one comes here nowadays, it’s too crowded.

KP: How about your team's mental readiness going into today's game?
FH: The game is 90% mental and the other half is physical.

KP: It seemed like Wilcher's 3's kept you in the game early, then suddenly, Northwestern turned this into a 22 halftime deficit.  What happened?
FH: We made too many wrong mistakes.

KP: Doc didn't seem to engaged on the sideline today.  How would you explain that?
FH: Yeah, he usually takes a two-hour nap from one to four.

KP: How do you explain some of Verge's early-possession shot selections?
FH: With that shot clock, It gets late early out here.

KP: I know this was a disappointing day, where does your team go from here?
FH: When you come to a fork in the road, take it.

KP: Coach, is there something you can share with fans that they can take away, looking forward to the rest of the season and next year?
FH: The future ain’t what it used to be.
