Mr. Red reacted to hhcmatt in France in U18 FIBA European Championships
I suppose that depends on what you're expecting. If you're expecting him to come in and be a threat to be a double/double that seems doubtful this year and maybe ever.
To me he's playing a similar role on that French team that he would here where he's an afterthought on offense but does have some posts moves and isn't afraid to shoot. What I would worry about is the defensive end. He's no threat to block a shot. Perhaps that will be mitigated by Doc's defense of packing the lane but he's not really stopping anyone who gets into the paint. Is he a poor rebounder or is he deferring to the better rebounders on this French team? Seems more like the former as he doesn't win a lot of one-on-one battles. He has a big body, seems to have a good basketball IQ, seems to play hard, and still super young. If we're lucky he's an under the rim Leslee Smith without the injuries. To me he seems like our backup center who plays 10-15 minutes a game and hopefully he grows skills-wise to make up for his lack of explosiveness.
I think if he had been practicing with the rest of the team in front of Rothstein that Jon wouldn't have listed him as a starter though I could be very wrong about all of this.

Good to see someone else is along for this hard to watch ride.
Draogo sets a liberté moving screen that every B1G ref could feel to free up a teammate. France up 3 with :33 to go.

Mr. Red reacted to Norm Peterson in So, when do they close in the north end of PBA?
As long as we're talking atmosphere, can I hijack my own thread for a moment to offer the following suggestion?
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CLOSE THE TUNNELS ON THE SOUTH END OF THE ARENA SO THAT IF PEOPLE WANT TO LEAVE 5 MINUTES EARLY, THEY HAVE TO GO UP TO THE CONCOURSE RATHER THAN DOWN TO THE FLOOR LEVEL.
If they do that from game 1, people will figure out pretty quickly to either remain in their seats a while longer or exit the arena by climbing up the stairs instead of down. It's just such a bad look to see the traffic jam of people trying to get out of there with 2-3 minutes left in the game.
Make an announcement during the games: "Except in the event of fire or other natural disaster, the tunnels on the south end of the arena floor will be closed to spectators from the last media timeout until the final horn. Please plan accordingly. Thank you."
And if that doesn't work, I would suggest some peer pressure from people near those tunnel exits. Boo the people leaving early. Tell them they're bad fans and they should use a different exit if they're going to leave early.

Until we can not only sell out the arena but actually have the seats fully occupied for all B1G games and at least all mid majors and up, we don't need to ruin the atmosphere by putting in a couple thousand more of the least occupied seats.
Leave it as it is unless we can consistently sell and occupy the current 300 level seats for perhaps 3 to 5 years.
If we do that, it means we have had success. Perhaps then and it will be time to expand.
Before that time, we should strive to make Husker PBA games a very tough ticket.

All the games will be streamed by FIBA. The U just put out an article with the times that France plays.
Not sure if France will play Germany in the tourney but the Germans have Mo Wagner's younger brother Franz who will play for Michigan this year.

A-freaking-MEN! There are countless examples of this in the sports world. There are consultants making so much money just shopping the same generic designs from college to college (and pro) teams in the last 10 years. In some cases, a "refresh" is needed, I will admit that. But there are some seriously "unique" designs being thrown away for a mascot.jpg clip art and it sickens me
These are just the other in-state examples in the last few years:

It's not like there aren't folks trained in design on campus who wouldn't help them come up with something better, but they probably got "Drunk Randy Travis" by shopping it out on a six-figure contract.
By the way, "Drunk Randy Travis" could probably just be shortened to "Randy Travis."

While it's true that the sleeve thing is a little annoying maybe it's best to let that sleeping dog lie. You email the athletic department and tell them they oughta fix it and next thing you know the marketing department is getting involved and tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars are getting spent and you end up with some generic piece of shit like this:

Mr. Red reacted to khoock in JPJ
The above post is worth mentioning for those who arent super familiar with the NBA. James Palmer is basically auditioning for all thirty NBA clubs. Pheonix has no rights to him even though he is on their summer league team. Whereas since Roby's draft rights were traded to Dallas they have control of him for two years minimum.
Roby has much more security with being drafted. But Palmer will have much more flexibility if the interest is there.
