  1. A week to practice for an ambitious, humorless coach who wants a win to destroy the image of a long home losing streak in his fan's minds and take down a rival coach who is getting national attention at the same time?? Nope, I think Vegas is calling this one about right. Let's prove them wrong.
  2. I'm back from a trip and find that this Jean has opened up a whole peck of trouble. I'm doubtful she'll take the time to send a rebuttal letter since the ShimSham practice schedule is probably quite rigorous.
  3. Dave, Dave, Dave. Looks like all that good karma you have built up from initiating the HHC experience is finally beginning to pay off.
  4. I realize it is somewhat of a copout but if ever we should award POG honors to the mythical "Team" this might be a good time to do it. Everyone who played was able to contribute positively and this might be the proper time to send the message that HHC recognizes each player for his team role as well as his individual stats. This bunch is rapidly bringing us to the next level we have longed for so many years and the team seems to be constructed like a Lego figure. While Petteway gets to be the "face" piece, if one of the other parts is left out the whole structure is lopsided and falls over. And for any of our friends from NZ who may read this, I changed my logo not because I am disappointed with our young kiwi but because I will be unavailable for a few days and wanted to give some props to Nebraska before the Oscars.
  5. For some reason the sound doesn't work on my computer today. Perhaps it is a good thing.
  6. I'm glad you liked my wording, Norm. I voted for Indiana who has better players but seems to be falling apart like their building. And while we are on random, meaningless topics, I got to watch a couple of interesting games between Big 10 action. I tuned in UAB vs NC Charlotte to hate on Fahro for awhile but saw him make the winning goal which probably helped raise our RPI a little. It was also nice to see that Jerod Hasse has been able to blimp up so well in Alabama since his old playing days at KU. Then, Calipari's bunch was ably to stumble and bumble to an OT win and help push LSU a bit further from that mythical bubble. Got to hustle back to the sofa now.
  7. It's sort of strange but Miles is the only coach since Moe Iba I have not known on a personal level and none of the others ever seemed to feel quite at home in Lincoln. From what I perceive through the media Tim seems to be different. Maybe you have to be raised on the plains to appreciate what we have here.
  8. Just kidding, although Lance and Drake Beranek were my Facebook "friends" for quite a while. Both seemed to be fine young men.
  9. OK, I'll fess up. I am Lance Jeter.
  10. Since we have another day for random, totally premature, meaningless posts, I thought I would throw this one out there. After reading Miles interview in USAToday by Ms. Auerbach ( I'll let someone smarter make the link if it hasn't already been done) let's make some assumptions. 1. We'll make the Dance 2. Tim will be COY in Big 10. 3. He'll continue to be media darling and draw national attention. Now, does anyone think lots of "better programs" won't be trying to lure him elsewhere? Why might he decide to remain??? I think the article indicates he would be happy remaining here for the duration of his career even if Walter White sums of money are thrown his way. Minnesota seems to be the only program closer to his roots and already has a young coach. I think family is important to him and the purse strings will open appropriately to keep the arena filled if all goes well. I think he will be happy to end his career in Lincoln if everything falls into place. This would be most unusual if it comes to pass (see Dana Altman in Oregon) but I think it could happen here. If he indeed starts to win some NCAA tournament games he'll establish himself as a legend like all of the 2004 Red Sox have become. I personally would like to still see him here when his hair is as white as Danny Nee's.
  11. I don't care much about Creighton one way or the other and only go to Omaha to use the airport so I obviously do not read their board (except for the frequent references here). It appears to me that in order to post up there you must agree to check a sense of humor at the door (if you have one). Any comment made by a Nebraska coach which doesn't refer to the Bluejays as the best program in the USA will be construed as "inflammatory". Whatever.
  12. I think that if they decide to make alcohol served during games, there will be more of these incidents. After all some jerk at Texas Tech was able to provoke Smart into a three game suspension, get some publicity and love from fellow jerks, and a very cursory slap on the wrist for similar behavior this year in the Lone Star state.
  13. I've never really understood or cared about these numbers games. A superficial perusal of this thread and listening to the comparison of the two teams by the commentators last night makes it appear that if Minnesota can just manage to lose to enough good teams on the road they'll be able to get a strength of schedule high enough and an RPI low enough to get an NCAA bid instead of us even though we beat them head to head. Makes perfect sense. Why play the games when you can check out the numbers on your Ebay? At this point in time bracketology should be labeled Loonery.
  14. Gotcha! It's Scott Sutton who has won 270+ at ORU.
  15. I have nothing against Pitino except his dad. Question: Who is the most successful coach to follow in a more famous father's coaching footsteps? Hint: It is not Joey Meyer or Pat Knight. I think someone will figure this out.
  16. I think Izzo is just making a logical assumption and not that he has any inside info on the Biggs situation. After all, not many coaches dismiss "good apples" from their teams.
  17. Speculation is really fun, but an old Chinese philosopher once said, " One should not savor the omelette until the egg is cracked." I believe his name was Shang Ping.
  18. Too bad Minnesota won last night. They can still lay claim to be the league's "surprise" team if they keep winning.
  19. I'm hoping Gumby pays another visit. If he has a test maybe he can at least send Pokey.
  20. And somewhere Jose Ramos softly chuckles. Since he has his own hoops academy now, perhaps he could hire Danny.
  21. I think he actually meant fifty joints.
