This stuff happens on the academic side all the time at state schools, especially at flagships in "hostile" territory where there is a political environment of being anti-public education.
Deal with this all the time here in Oklahoma. There are politicians who make entire careers of bad mouthing intellectuals of all stripes.
As someone that still takes students for private tutoring in advanced politics (when I'm healthy enough, obviously), it never ceases to amaze me how little our people know about their system andits unique little glitches
But the one topic I get the most requests for teaching subcourses in is, of course, intersections between sports and politics. These two have been squabbling bedmates for years and it's nearly impossible to get clear separation between them.
Edit: Okay, *now* I'm outta tis thread...sorry 'bout that

Enjoyed watching Creighton miss 3 free throws in a row in crunch time after being 20 for 20 up to that point. See if Providence can hold on.

Pillen's statement is just cover for the fact he helped bring all this uprising into play ... Trev is just a casualty. Green and Carter were pushed out, that was the main goal ... Trev probably realized he'll be working for a vetted puppet and not necessarily the best choice for the job and thus his authority was going to be minimized.

I’d read what Terry Pettit has to say about ALL this if you’re not afraid of hearing the truth.

Trev did a great job here.
This is bad timing, but it certainly seems like he was out of options in terms of his own goals as AD.
It will be interesting to see if Nebraska hires a president or chancellor or AD any time soon. Insanity. No one appears to want to work under the current BoR. Nebraska lost top level talent admins under their purview. It is what it is, just like any other organization with a ruling body and employees jumping ship - their fault. I'm afraid a BoR election will be more of the same so it will likely get even more interesting as more and more top paid employees jump ship. Their majority took dead aim at Carter and Green and got exactly what they wanted. Trev was simply a chicken coming home to roost. Good luck getting funding when competency is your enemy.
All that said, I'm fully in hoops mode.

Not all - but some. I think more other politicians. Ricketts certainly was no friend to UNL and made things very hard on the academic side in particular which led to Carter leaving, which led to Trev leaving (and likely leads to Rhule leaving next). Ricketts is no longer the governor but while there he hand-picked al bunch of lackies who are now in the unicameral singing the same song. Pillen likely cares more about UNL at least than Ricketts but mostly he just cares about cutting his personal taxes and if cutting funding for UNL helps with that then so be it.

Just speculating but apparently he does not love UNL more than he hates dealing with people in the State who do not love UNL - but by bowing out instead of fighting for the school he really left the school and its fans (and importantly its coaches) hanging. I get why he was frustrated - but I still think if he truly loved the school and the athletic program like most of us do he would not have bailed on it so easily.
