KenPom 2020-2021 KenPom Rankings Thread
HuskerFever replied to 49r's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
that was the preview of things to come, though, and most of us knew what kind of a year we were in for after that. still, I'm loving this finish. it's what this program desperately needed (and us fans, too). That sliver of light just keeps getting just a bit bigger with each week. And if we can see it, so can the players. It probably will come down to roster turnover at seasons end as to whether or not we're actually at a program corner right now or just humping more pyrite. I suppose we come from two different perspectives, but also seems we've come to terms on the season in very similar ways. I get things wrong a lot, so it's nice to see the season (and our opponents) shaking up the way it has. You can see via the first HHCC prediction that I was estimating this team would get 8 wins (technically 7-8 since we shifted to a percentage, but my true target was 8). And I was very vocal about Nevada and Georgia Tech when those opponents were coming up on our schedule. Nevada was just not a quality team and I mentioned that Georgia Tech was a tournament/bubble team at the least. So I wasn't too upset about a loss to Georgia Tech that many thought was a terrible loss. That said, I overestimated how bad we could get in this season and underestimated the progress we were able to make in the latter half of the season. At the start of the season, my only expectation was "improvement" (which included things like shooting %, free throws, gelling as a team). We were awful in all those categories and it really felt like a waste of a chance to make real progress with a marquee incoming class. But that changed for me after the COVID break. We lost many games, but we were in many of those games. Now we're starting to find our stride and "improvement" is actually looking like an actuality going into next season. Makes me very excited for where we could go into 2021-2022. -

No worries, I know he's hard to get ahold of on the phone these days. Glad you got that from him -
I think they can easily do better. I just don't fully know the details on buyouts + COVID budget impacts. And that's a hard thing to overcome if it's an issue. Curious on who would be better. Can't say I've been keeping up with the carousel lately. Although it's sounding like Pikiell would be a good pickup

The reality is, Pitino is dealt with a very rough hand at the end of the season at the wrong time. Injuries are killing him and his bench is very much to be desired. If I was a Minnesota fan, I'd probably be in the same boat that I was with the conversation on Miles. Do you truly believe you'll pick someone up better than Pitino? If so, go for it. If not, is jumping back in the coaching carousel going to do much good for you? I don't envy that decision. Sure, the fans are upset. But they went from NCAA talk to a bad February stretch. Is that really worth canning a coach? Especially when there's some future promise in the future with some of his guys?

We tend to break things. Sorry, not sorry.

I did not know that, but I am also lacking in natural geometric intelligence!

West Corn - 68 East Corn - 82 4 -
TWO THINGS THIS HHCC ROUND: 1) Score prediction for Nebraska at Iowa (as usual). 2) (BONUS -5 points) Predicting the exact number of Nebraska players with 5+ (5 or more) total rebounds (offensive + defensive) during this game (e.g. I am looking for an answer like "10").
