Here is a laundry list of Omaha Mexican food places that are better than weak ass Julio's.  Hell El Bee's and OJ's are better than Julio's

Cilantro's is the best "Chain" Mexican in Omaha

    Abelardo's (Fast Food)
    Lina's (Fast Food)

    Howards Charro
    Victor's
    Guaca Maya
    Don Gaby's
    El Rancho
    Azteca

And just about every restaurant south of 24th and L Street

Edit: Also want to give a shout out to Jacobo's(Grocery Store) because you can buy Carnita's by the pound there and their chips and salsa are cheap and delicious!

Copeland may have more versatility, but Morrow was a Rodman clone.  You can't teach the instinct that Morrow had!  Please quit trying to spin that Morrow is not a huge loss.

I would like to see Morrow still here with Copeland, but hey maybe that is just me.

Losing Horne, Jacobson and Fuller is not that big of a deal if you ask me, but throwing Morrow in the mix makes losing Jacobson hurt more.

    Horne

    Pros
He can shoot He is a decent rebounder Cons
Terrible at decision making Rushed shots Wanted to be more than what he was Not good at ball handling Morrow

    Pros
Best rebounder on the team Explosive Intimidating Spark Plug Decent Shot Blocker Cons
Could not shoot Predictable Could not get the pass out down Jacobson

    Pros
Good at offensive rebounds Good Free Throw Shooter Excellent at effort plays Cons
Poor shot selection Limited athletically Offensive Liability Fuller

    Pros
Glue Guy Played harder than anyone on the team Cons
Do I really need to go here?

I don't know the whole backstory on Khyri.  There might be a reason we didn't pursue.  I will say no one, not even the CU coaches, saw him being the player he ended up being right out of the gates.  Otherwise, Creighton would have offered sooner.  And when Creighton did finally offer and Khyri accepted, the DBs on the BJ board were all like wut?  They certainly weren't jumping for joy that they offered a scholarship to a kid from Benson whom no other major programs had offered.  He had an offer from UNO.  And Portland.  And UMKC.

So, that's a whiff on our part?  Not sure why.

I thought he was really good but I didn't see anyone else saying it.  So, it's interesting to me now that he's panned out how many people thought we should have offered back then who weren't saying so back then.

Just watched Ed play Millard South last night.  He has a ton of potential, but plays extremely lazy.  Extremely raw, but I'd be lying if I said his potential isn't through the roof.  He has good range, but does not have post play moves in his repertoire.  I can see his defense turn a lot of coaches off, but defense can be taught.

He did nothing eye popping IMO, and he didn't stand out as the best player on the floor.  The fact he would rather shoot the 3 than post up scares me a bit.  At his size, he would have to develop more of an inside game before he plays in college.  He would be a big project!

Man I wish Kezo Brown was 2017, what a fit he would be!!! Combo guard that is lightning quick.  It seems like we are shooting for our run here within the next 2 years, so Kezo Brown just happens to be in the wrong class

I honestly want to hold the next scholarship for him, because he is a game changer type guard

McDermott knows how to shut down Miles offensively, and knows how to break down Miles defensively.  It has nothing to do with who is the better team, but more a coaching conflict

big red22 reacted to aphilso1 in Rotation
**Disclaimer: I’m ignoring Nick Fuller in my rotation for reasons that I feel are too obvious to require explanation.**
We have three guys who are too valuable to take off the court: Watson, Webster, and Morrow.  If I’m Tim Miles, I pencil in Glynn/Tai/Ed for a combined 100 minutes, and then I laminate the paper so I can’t change my mind.  That leaves Jacobson, McVeigh, Roby, Chimichanga, Horne, Taylor, and Gill, who all bring something to the table, but also all have glaring weaknesses.
Jordy: When he’s locked in mentally, he’s been a beast for us.  When he’s not, he fumbles every pass thrown his way, loses his man on defense, and collects fouls like their pokemon.  Should Jordy get 20 minutes?  On some nights yes.  Should he only get spot duty in the 5-10 minute range?  On some nights yes.  Jordy’s youth and inconsistency make it impossible for the coaches to know how much to rely on him on any given night.  But if one thing is clear to me, you know within his first few minutes on the floor whether he will be on or off.  Verdict: play him early but with a short leash.
Jacobson: Steady player on D and the boards, but with no outside shot he’s been ineffective as a stretch 4.  He also doesn’t seem to play particularly well next to Jordy or Ed, so it’s tough to play him in a  3-out/2-in or high/low post look.  Verdict: lots of minutes when we want to go big or Jordy isn’t locked in; otherwise, nope.
Jack/Anton/Jeriah: I’d treat all 3 of these guys the same, since all are super streaky on offense and average to below average on D/rebounding.  Each gets the full-confidence green light to shoot while they’re in the game, and each gets a solid 4-6 minute stretch in the first half.  Whoever’s hot gets as many minutes as they can physically handle in the second half.  Whoever’s not finds the end of the bench.  The tough part here is keeping their collective confidence up to shoot when open, while simultaneously keeping them all on a short leash.
Taylor: I’ll admit when I’m wrong-- I said early in the season that Taylor had no serious role on this team.  But with so many talented/inconsistent players, it’s nice to have a 6’5” guy to put in the game that you know will play D and won’t turn it over.  VERDICT: On nights when no one can score and we’re trying to win ugly, give me an extra helping of Evan.
Roby: Other than our top 3 guys, Zay is the one player who I feel like needs consistent minutes on a nightly basis.  Even when he’s not having a great night, he still doesn’t make a ton of mistakes.  On a roster filled with high potential/low consistency (Jordy/Jack/Anton/Jeriah) and low potential/high consistency (Michael/Evan) players, we have to find a way to give Roby solid time in both halves.
Conclusion: of the 200 minutes per game, I give 100 to my top 3, 20 to Roby, and divide up the remaining 80 among the other 6 players differently each game.

As much as I loved Shields, and losing a scorer like White...  I think this "team"  is going to step it up and prove to be overall better.  I think this year is going to be a big change of pace  and we are going to see a lot more team oriented ball.
