  1. Petteway's percentages this year are dead on with Ray from 2 years ago. The type of shot's that Petteway is forced to take are very low percentage. Petteway IS a good shooter from distance when he's set and in rhythm
  2. Maybe this is is just me, but Terran is much more effective when he goes 1 on 1 when attacking a defender. The problem is that we ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use ball screens up top and it is not effective whatsoever! Every team just hard hedges the screen and Terran goes around it and then were back to square one. Why not let him just go 1 on 1 with the defender and try to beat them that way?
  3. To go along with that point Silverbacked, there's something else I've mentioned to my dad a couple times that Terran isn't doing this year. And I know were talking about not settling for jumpers so much, but last year, at least 2-3 times a game, Terran would drive (mainly to his right obviously) and shoot a stepback 15-17 footer, and it was pretty lethal. He loved to do it in the corner and right around the right elbow. He has completely taken that shot out of his arsenal. Maybe I'm the only one who noticed but he was deadly with that move last year.
  4. I agree. People bitch constantly about how lopsided the free throws are game in and game out. And while I do agree that some calls are very questionable that go against us, it's more an issue of we settle way too much for jumpers and hardly look to get into the paint, and if you don't get into the paint, you're just not gonna get to the line.
  5. Can I take Joe Mccray before he started dining at dunkin donuts on a regular basis?
  6. Thank you! I love Miles, and I definitely think he is a coach that should be here for the long hall. With that said I also believe he needs to allow other to score. Why are others passing up shots? Sometimes I feel like Shields and Petteway are the Italians in Kicking and Screaming Once again, it isn't that these guys aren't allowed to take shots. If you've ever listened to Miles press conferences, he's very vocal about everyone scoring. These guys are CHOOSING to pass up some of these shots that they should be taking.
  7. I'm not sure we can really take the first season into account when looking at his overall coaching so far here in Lincoln.
  8. Let me make this real easy Shields has shot "79" 3's and has mad 15 Smith and Fuller together have shot "33" 3's and made 12 3's don't have to be shot by Shields, Pitchford and Petteway. If they let them shot 5 more 3's a game we would be a better team... it is that simple. 3's don't require you to be that athletic, and they are better at it then the 3 mentioned above Petteway, Shields and Pitchford = "397" 3 point attempts and have made "113". That is 28.5% Smith and Fuller = "33" 3 point attempts and have made "12" That is 36.6% 397 attempts is 76.6% of all the 3 point attempt by our team. If you add in Tai W. that is 48 more and he has made 10 (20.8%) and his attempts bring the total to 445 and 85.9% of the total amount of 3's taken. That is ridiculous and a huge reason why we suck. Simple fact... as I have proof that I provided above. The wrong people are taking our 3's Make no mistake, Fuller and Smith are both allowed to shoot those 3's. They both choose not to shoot as much as they maybe should
  9. I'm not sure we can really look at Fuller's shooting stat's with complete confidence in saying they're relevant considering the very limited number of shot's he's taken this season due to lack of playing time. Do I think he can knock those shot's down and be a much bigger contributor right now than he has been? Yes, but he's shooting 52% on the season is a little inaccurate.
  10. I can still hear Coach Eichoff teaching! Went to his basketball camp every year I could. Great coach, best camps ever. Got the chance to have him as an assistant coach at North Star my junior and senior year. What an amazing coach and even better man to learn from
  11. Ethan is a flat out monster. I've played a lot of rec league and tournaments with him before he chose to head back to UNK. No doubt in my mind he would be able to contribute at the D1 level.
  12. What do you expect him to do? No one else is even remotely stepping up offensively. Including Shields, who in my eyes, hasn't really shown up much over the last ten games. Terran has absolutely no help around him, so ya I'd try to save the ship on my own too.
  13. I think what he's getting at though, is EXPECTATIONS. Only one of the few times we have EVER had anything resembling expectations, considering we were ranked and everything (and the made in March jerseys), tv spots, etc. with those expectations, I have to agree that it WAS one of the most disappointing seasons to date; the other, certainly worse seasons were the norm. We were expecting a bad team year in and out. This seasons results make it that much more disappointing. Well, yeah, quoting me an entire month later when the Huskers only 'W' was on Feb. 3rd vs NW is probably an obvious downfall of Big Red at this point. Back then, Nebraska was 5-5 in the league & now NU's 5-11.Hey dude, it's nothing personal. Didn't personally see the date there, I was just responding. Idc if it's relevant now, it's relevant generally. I meant expectations in the broad sense of the season, and the record we have now only makes that worse; and yes you are right, it'll be bad either way.Anyway, I was probably running off of a burned out brain from studying+epic lack of sleep. Best of luck to the skers next year. No prob, I knew it wasn't personal; more surprised that somebody would reply to that old of a post on 'expectations'. I must have been wondering 'what the what' as I've been taking a lot of flak for not giving up on Nebrasketball in some circles.. Haha yeah sorry for the confusion. But I'm with you; I haven't given up on them yet either, I guess the year I have though. I still believe in tim's long term vision, and I hope you can encouraged to keep it up. It's tough and always will be to be a husker fan, and I think only some of us understand this. I'm still convinced that it's a curse...Hate to say it, but I'm gonna be glad to lose Terran and have a new slate in a way...most if not all are tim's recruits and we'll have white III in to really help w/l athleticism. At this point next year we will have no excuses to not be a tourney bubble team. And I fail to see "expectations" being a problem anymore...we know with bball that we get what we can from the program...though I hope that our program keeps going upward. I don't want it to stagnate. I don't understand this motive from so many fans. With help coming in next year, Terran can be much more effective with a lot of the weight lifted off his shoulders. People get frustrated with him offensively a lot, but what they also aren't taking into account is how half of his shots come 1 on 1 at the end of the shot clock cause no one else is willing to shoot the ball in the other 25 seconds of the possession. With help coming our way next year, those type of shots won't happen as much. I personally would love for Terran to stay another year
  14. Shields was also a very low 3 star recruit, with NU being his only major offer. And Benny was a 1 star coming out of high school. Shavon just ended up turning into a better player than most expected.
  15. Didn't Jamel get jetisoned prior to the start of that season? Didn't Jamel get jetisoned prior to the start of that season? Yep. JW #31 could have had a good year, but blew his chance. Too bad. Miles was considered a miracle-worker for winning 5 B1G games that 1st season w/ Doc's leftovers! Doc had 2 & 4 wins in 2 out of his last 3 years at NU w/ 14 conference losses in each of those 2 seasons... Didn't he end up somewhere where he scored like 60 points in a game or something, or am I just imagining this? ya I recall that as well
  16. http://www.huskers.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPSID=23&SPID=24&Q_SEASON=2006 Jamel White is also pictured but not listed. Not sure that's the worst roster you could ask for..... That's a pretty solid squad compared to Miles first year team
  17. Miles was left a mess when Doc was let go. Doc had a couple players with a pulse when he arrived. Count me as one that will be a bit concern if we see the same mess next year. That said, I don't believe we will. Including the likes of Sek Henry and Ryan Anderson as freshman when Doc arrived. And if I recall, Maric was only a junior that year. So he was handed a much better roster with a much easier non con schedule. The comparison between Doc and Miles in their first 3 years is so pathetic.
  18. You didn't even mention White III. I'm not sure forget petteway is the answer cause he can still be a very major contributor obviously if he chooses to stay next season
  19. Wonder if its academics related. I mentioned this in another thread, but yes, there are some grade issues with Hammond right now.
  20. Fuller, we didn't know what to expect, but we all expected him to be an obviously much bigger contributor at the beginning of the season than he turned out to be. Tai was expected to be vastly improved, including his 3 pt. shot, which improved, but not as much as most expected. And I remember reading an article before the season about players who will be most improved coming into this season. It was a list of like 40-50 and Walt was on it. Expecting him to play as good as he did last year is pretty much specifically asking him to knock down shots, because that's his main contribution from our run last year. Most expected him to develop some sort of post game, and some defensive abilities. I don't think that was too much to ask honestly.
  21. Am I the only one who thinks that expectations going in to this season we're pretty accurate? No one expected us to make a national championship run by any means. We were preseason ranked 21, which in my opinion sounds pretty accurate. We were picked second in the conference, which was very reasonable going into this year. Did we make a magical run last year that no one expected? Ya, we did, but we did it with the leading conference scorer, an offensive threat in shields who was averaging around 15 last year. We brought back Walt who most expected to be one of the more improved players around the country. Along with a bench who although not stellar offensively, was all returning from last years team. The expectations going into this season seemed pretty reasonable in my opinion.
  22. I obviously hope I'm wrong as well, but just don't see him sticking around. If he could gain some strength over the offseason and develop some skill in some specific areas, I think he could turn out to be a beneficial player for us, but I guess we'll find out soon enough whether or not he decides to stick around.
  23. I don't think Hammond will be here next year. I don't think he's gonna turn out to be what we originally hoped back when he was our first top 150 signee. Also, I know there are some grade issues going on, and if that keeps up, that's not gonna help his cause
  24. I agree that it can be benefical to potentially draw fouls. But he doesn't draw too many in transition.
  25. I apologize if this has already been mentioned elsewhere, but am I the only one who cringes everytime Benny gets out into the open floor? He is horrible in a one on one transition scenario and continues to take it at the defender every single time and rarely ever is successful in doing so. I'm all for being aggressive and finding ways to score in transition, but at some point you've got to realize you're just smaller than most defenders and that it might be smarter to pull it out and potentially get a better shot.
