  1. Ubel would be great for it. Jake's fine, but he's not Bahe, maybe he could develop into it, but I'd be all about a show like this.
  2. That was in the 2nd half when we forced a shot clock violation and Benny was in Ray Rice's jock and wouldn't let him get a good look at a 3 at the end of the clock. Yeah man, I got so caught up in watching Benny do his thing I didn't even notice the shot clock was running down. Seemed like the rest of the crowd was late in recognizing that as well. Parker was awesome tonight.
  3. Had it's moments. This is still a fan base that's been let down so many times when they've had chances, there's a bit of a reluctance to jump in the deep end just yet. It wasn't the best crowd of the year, but it got pretty loud in there at times. I wouldn't call it weak at all.
  4. Yeah, baby! That's a game NU loses traditionally. Nice to not do that this time. - What a game from Shavon! Maybe game of the year. - Best defensive effort of the year...after they came out sluggish to start and Miles laid into them. After that, they played lights out. Best effort of the season. - Pretty dang good game from Petteway, too. - Here's a fun stat. There was only one 3 made in the second half by both teams combined. - I think this was Benny's best game in his time here. He was really disruptive defensively. - Interesting that Webster only played 15 minutes. Smith didn't play a ton either. - So, Penn St. won at Indiana tonight. It's our turn to get a surprise road win (no, Northwestern wasn't it...). Alright, that's it for now, I may come back for more later... This post has been promoted to an article

  6. Well, he did want to go to Illinois out of high school but Weber didn't recruit him.
  7. Not sure how tongue in cheek it was. The last place teams have 3 wins; we have 4. Stranger things have happened. (not that i think it will) I would have been very curious to see how he responded to it when they laughed...or what his internal dialogue was.
  8. Total busts don't average 26 mpg as freshmen You don't give a final verdict roughly 17% of the way through a career.
  9. Whey is this tread still a live?
  10. The University of Missouri football fans are saying the same thing..... ...wow...
  11. I just remember yelling for someone, anyone, to take the game seriously. Nobody seemed to. There was no energy in the building or from the team for what should have been the biggest game in a decade. I was sooooooo frustrated...
  12. Mizzou 2008. That loss might have kept that team from the dance. I watched that one with nuled2dance. Ask him about it. I was visibly angry during that game. That doesn't happen very often
  13. Sure you can. They've played well at home. No reason to think otherwise until they do differently. Against the good teams, on the road, they have had it handed to them. No reason to think otherwise until they do differently. Against teams similar to them on the road, they've been competitive. No reason to think otherwise until they do differently. Based on that, it's actually fairly easy to make a prediction about this team.
  14. Probably need to get to that 19 win mark to make it happen. That's a tall hill to climb.
  15. - Solid road win. We needed that. - That said, that first half, was awful. Literally fell asleep watching it. - Petteway and Pitchford stole the show in the second half. - Parker's contributions were key today. - Loved the wide smile after Petteway nailed the 3 in the last minute. - Good toughness to not fold after giving up the eight point lead. - 1 assist, 3 turnovers from Tai. Needs to keep making progress. - Quiet game from Gallegos, again. - Shields did some good things, but still need more from him. - I think in a game like this, you can say that about almost everyone. - I think Dave summed it up best: - Also this:
  16. yep...or just life in general at times... Gotta slow down to get out of the quicksand.

  18. Interesting point.
  19. Again, Shields is the second leading scorer on the team. He's not gonna suddenly be the sixth man. "We're a big away." If we recruit that big, someone who started this year is going to sit next year. It's not going to be Petteway. Could be Pitchford. Probably not Shields. So, I agree. Sort of. Shields, though, is caught in a position game. We need another big, a guy who can come in and start either at the post or at the PF position. If it's this Atwood guy, well, Shields ain't a 5. Which means Shields either starts at 3 and Petteway moves to the 2, or Shields comes off the bench. Whatever big we get -- assuming we get one who can be that "one big away" guy -- is going to supplant a returning starter. Not necessarily. With Ray graduating, that opens a spot in the lineup. Slide the BTBNL in there and then you've got a more conventional lineup anyway on the floor. Tai, Terran, Shavon, BTNBL, Walt. Yeah, I guess I was thinking the package deal thing, both of whom would expect to start and, if we go after them, we should expect it too. In which case, someone who started this year will sit next. And that could only mean the talent level is climbing upward for us. Could be. Get them on campus and work it out. I'd expect anyone that is good enough to get a scholarship would expect to start. I doubt they'll promise a starting spot. That's not a box you want to open up.

  22. Nothing ever's based on one performance.
  23. - Lob to open the game. Awesome. Yeesh. - ...and a Pitchford 3 to open the game. Nothing if not predictable. - 8-0 deficit to start. Can’t keep doing that. Too many outside jumpers, not enough going to the rim. - 13-3, 16-7, 28-12, 45-15, 75-34, - 2 turnovers for Petteway before the first media timeout. - 7 points from Shields is a good sign. - So many open jumpers… - First half was Creighton-esque ugly. https://twitter.com/CoachMiles/status/431223248911466497 First segment: 12-7, Michigan - L (61-28) Second segment: 14-6, Michigan - L (75-34) Third segment: 4-0, Nebraska - W (75-38) Fourth segment: 4-3, Michigan - L (79-41) Fifth segment: 9-0, Nebraska - @ (79-50) Not much to say about that one, but it was cool to see Kurkowski throw it down. See if they can pick up the pieces on Saturday. I do think that game is winnable.
