Will 2026 be a make or break year? If everyone returns for next year, 2026 will be a largely new roster.
I'm skeptical that Nebraska would hire someone better; even given the dismal results from the first three years. If a change is made and it isn't the best hire NU has ever made, they will be in danger of becoming a perennial bubble team; the bubble for the Big Ten tournament that is.
If you take next year's conference composition and taken that back in time, and limited a conference tournament to 15 teams as planned, Nebraska would most likely have missed the Big Ten tournament 5 to 7 times out of 13 years.

Two of those guys will be hard to replace but it’s not like it will have to be a clean slate again. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Priority number 1 is convincing Gary, Mast, and Williams to stay around for their sixth year of college.

One other thing that we haven’t mentioned… crowd influence. Unfortunately, letting them back in the game created more crowd noise. The more crowd noise, the more refs couldbe influenced.
Not saying all refs are influenced by crowd noise and not saying it works 100% of the time. However, I’m not saying crowds booing, yelling, or going crazy in a close game doesn’t EVER influence either.
I don't think they were influenced by the crowd at all. I think they were just a bunch of pf*cking crooks.
It's easy to start playing like sh*t when the officials let your opponents play hockey while they force you to you play tiddlywinks. Yes, Nebraska should have won anyway, but the pf*cking game was pf*cking pfixed.
If we ever try to field a team of goons like this Rutgers squad and play that style, we'd have 12 guys foul out every night.

Simply look at the scrapes and scratches on Mast and the cut under Josiah's chin.
I haven't seen anyone scratched up that bad since the final Siegfried & Roy show.

Losing Juwan Gary is the biggest kick in the nuts since when?

I don't know that Davison ever got ejected, but I recall watching video where he clocked guys in the nuts and probably should have been.
Three things about Xavier Johnson:
1. Watching it at regular speed, I could see how when Xavier turns to chase the ball handler, that his right hand could inadvertently wind up where you show it in that still image;
2. The Rutgers guy was clearly GRABBING XJ's hand and trying to hold it between his legs; and
3. The Rutgers guy then delivers a forearm shiver to XJ and knocks him to the floor but then shoots FTs. Why wasn't the Rutgers guy ejected? Retaliation isn't fair game.
IIRC, I saw Xavier Johnson do something very similar last year or the year before, against Ohio State I believe, where he nuttted someone from behind and tried to make it look unintentional.

I can't believe there is not enough prison space in this country to accomodate Big Ten officials, because that's where they belong.

Yeah...how did he get the blood?
No foul though.
It's hard to judge how bad we are today, because the officiating is total shit. This one was fixed from the git-go.

It's the D. Struggling making the right adjustments.
Refs made it clear in the first five minutes that they weren't going to allow NU to play any defense today.

Great win! Fun crowd. I was wondering if before the game if anyone else noticed Nick Collison on the huskervision? Maybe it wasn’t him, but I was having ptsd seeing him sitting in the stands.
Maybe Collison can bring Eric Chenowith with him the next time he goes to a game. In the 99 game in Lincoln, Kansas was up pretty big early in the first half, and Chenowith made a steal and went down for a very impressive dunk. Someone in my section yelled "Not bad!....For a pu**y!". Venson Hamilton outclassed him up and down the court for the rest of the night and I never saw him have a good game again.

Jamie Pollard has been on the record as being a staunch Husker hater, don't think he'll ever be favorable toward us and especially now that Hoiberg is our coach.
Matt Campbell wakes up every morning, looks out his window, sees that he is still in Ames, and thinks "God damn it".

Penn State lost on one of the worst officiating calls ever.
If Penn State gets screwed and there are no Penn State basketball fans on the planet, does anyone give a damn about it?

At that point, would you rather win in the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament and take a shot at winning the championship game, or do you take the extra day of rest before the NCAAs? I'm thinking that if Nebraska is playing their third or fourth straight game on Sunday then the NCAA in their infinite wisdom would ship them to the east coast for a Thursday morning game.
