  1. "We need a bigger and better new arena!!!!!!" "Oh wait, you mean you are further away from the action when the arena is bigger???" SMH
  2. I think this would apply in most cases, but our staff is pretty honest when discussing players with the public/media. If the coaches weren't confident in fuller and Hawkins going forward, we probably would've recruited Leon Gilmore way harder than we did
  3. except for the 90s, when we were good and had a tremendous home court environment, obviously...This is ridiculous, our fans are pretty great for how awful we've been and they'll get better as the team does
  4. Wow, what a hostile environment in west Lafayette this morning Give me a break, dirk
  5. I thought we were showing improvement on defense until last night's game. Just a lot of communication breakdowns last night e.g. one guy switching on the pick while the other guy didn't leaving a guy wide open off the screen. I don't think it has to do with philosophy, we were still a pretty good defensive team last year without Doc.
  6. I asked this question (semi rhetorical) on another board- Tai is obviously better and more consistent than Biggs on defense, but having Tai out there doesn't make us a good defensive team (not even close).... So what are we really losing by starting Biggs? FYI, I'm undecided on the matter. I can see both sides to it. We lose bench production by by taking Biggs off it, and the long term idea is to make these guys play solid defense which probably isn't going to happen with Webster on the bench.
  7. I think Kamdy is on point regarding the handling of Webster vs Biggs. Biggs shows poor body language, but I don't think that has anything to do with a lack of confidence in himself. If you have the time, go back and watch a little bit of the FGCU, Western Illinois, and SCSU games. Tai's body language/demeanor is night and day from then compared to now. It's pretty evident that he's mentally broken right now. Didn't we bench him against Georgia and he responded with a great 2nd half performance?
  8. a- No, I don't think so, unless the knee injury Miles talked about post game is getting worse due to his minutes b- Who would we start in place of him? Webster/Biggs/Gallegos/Petteway/Pitchford is even more "square peg round hole" than what we have right now. Webster/Gallegos/Petteway/Smith/Pitchford is intriguing, but isn't an option
  9. We're obviously not a good defensive team, but I'd rather have a team full of offensive weapons that can be taught defense than a team that is sound on defense but limited offensively. You can coach a team to play solid defense, you can't coach a team of non scorers into scorers. Obviously I'd rather have them come in adequate at both, but that isn't really an option this year.
  10. This was by far Pitchford's best game of the season, IMO. He didn't grab a lot of boards, but he prevented a lot of putbacks for Michigan which hasn't been the case this season. I think he's coming along pretty well all things considered.
  11. couldn't agree more, but if there's one guy on the team that I expect to "get it" as a whole in the long run, it's Terran. As has been discussed ITT, his shot selection is improving with each game and all signs point towards Terran being a total team guy, putting in the most hours, etc. I expect his defensive intensity to improve over conference play.
  12. he's going to be a high first rounder because he's a legit big with above average skills and you rarely come across that anymore, especially in the USA. How he does in the NBA is anyone's guess (obviously).
  13. Yes- I apologize for the email asking if I had been banned
  14. thanks for the link, can't download it for some reason. Oh well
  15. Any way we can make this site compatible with tapatalk for mobile viewing?
  16. Really hope we don't blow this during the last 3 minutes. We've played too well this half to go into halftime not within striking distance
  17. not sure about that, honestly. Biggs is obviously one of the most talented guys on the team, but I think Hawkins and Parker have been giving us better minutes than him over the last couple games. This team also NEEDS to learn how to play within the system or else we're going to get destroyed in conference play.. Biggs hasn't allowed us to develop much (system wise) when he's on the court bc of his complete refusal to adapt. Hopefully Biggs takes this as a wake up call
  18. Even if it is about basketball, I'd guess 75%+ of out of state freshmen have thoughts about transferring during their first semester/year. Rarely amounts to anything.
  19. I have the same question. It's not like we aren't deep enough to do it, either. Maybe one of the reporters that browses this board can ask Miles about this at the next PC Wish I would've thought about this yesterday when Miles was doing his twitter Q&A, would've been a good one to ask.
  20. Also, I'm a recent graduate of UNL (within the last 2 years) but I think I sat in the student section once my entire college career. I didn't miss games, but I would always opt to sit in my parent's seats instead of the student section. Not to sound pretentious, but I tried it once and couldn't believe some of the stuff going on in there. As you said, just a complete lack of basketball knowledge. Instead of being a dick and trying to correct everything, I just opted to sit with friends in reserved seating instead. Much more enjoyable than listening to someone try to figure out why you can't tackle the guy with the ball. Another thing I think they should work on- getting the greek community more involved/excited to attend games. Nothing against dorm people (seriously, don't take this as a frat vs dorm deal or turn it into one), but their college network is generally more limited than the greeks. If you convince someone in the dorms to go to a game, they might get 2-6 people to with them. If you convince someone that lives in a house, they can pretty easily get 15+ others to go in a matter of minutes.
  21. I agree with your point. I've always thought our student section was a joke and was hoping moving to PBA would change that.... Nope. I think it'll get better over time though as basketball becomes a bigger part of Lincoln/UNL's culture.
  22. possibly, idk. a couple fraternities did the same thing when i was in college (hired a 3rd party vendor and served booze in their house). Maybe it has to be designated as an alumni event? Not sure
