Nicholls State Game Thread: But Soon Comes Mr. Night.....
FredsSlacks replied to cipsucks's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Didn't watch or listen to the game, but I just checked out the stats. It doesn't look like NU played all that bad offensively, but NU must of really let up on defense in the second half. It also doesn't look like NU rebounded that well considering how small of a team they had. This was probably a tough game to get up for knowing how bad Nicholls st was and the fact that conference play starts in a week. The effort should pick up in a week and hopefully NU can pull off an upset or two. I think NU is capable of it if they can stay healthy. A win is a win. 9-4. -
Aram seems like a better project than Vucetic, but I doubt NU ever offers Aram. Sergej seems to be lacking strength and skill, but Aram is just lacking strength. Atewe likely has better upside than both. It doesn't look like there is much room for Martin's frame to grow. It's hard to tell though. Some people struggle to gain weight and than others don't (andre). He's an interesting prospect, but NU probably does not have room for a project right now. Aram seems to be really smart on and off the court though.

here is 2 more of Aram's team.

Found some Recent vids of Aram Martin. He is #20 for Miller. He now has a rivals page too. http://rivals.yahoo....m-Martin-144640

Matthew Atewe -> Auburn -> Washington
FredsSlacks replied to TheKamdyMan's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
We should have a good idea about our chances with Atewe in about 2 weeks. I hope NU gets him, but I would be happy with getting another Pitchford type transfer if he does not commit. Transfers are a gamble in that you don't know who is going to transfer, but Miles has been pretty good at getting talented transfers. He brought in some very good transfers at CSU. Also, what are the chances either Rivers, Parker, or Vucetic transfers from NU? I would say there is about a 50% chance at least one of those guys leaves. I don't think any of those 3 will start a game after this year. Shields is already better than rivers after playing only 4 games. Webster, Biggs, and Hawkins will probably all be ahead of parker vucetic... he's played about 2 minutes this year on a team where he is the only post player on the bench. -
Matthew Atewe -> Auburn -> Washington

There are clearly similarities between the two, but I do not blame Miles for letting Coleman walk. Miles had hopes of getting guys like Agau, Vitto Brown, Tory Miller, Zach Hanson, Alex Foster, etc. At this point Tim is going to have a hard time finding a guy that can be a starter as a freshman. I think we know Miles did everything he possibly could to get those guys above. I still think Atewe will be a much better get than Coleman though. Atewe's upside is higher coming straight out of high school, and Coleman struggled in junior college. Atewe has better offers than what Coleman had. -
Biggs charged with DUI and leaving the scene?
FredsSlacks replied to big red22's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Maybe the people in the Mercedes could tell Biggs had been drinking by the way he was driving and called the police. That could be why they did not drive around him. Not sure though. The story sounds really strange. I know he is redshirting, but it is not good that he is drinking during the season the night before a game. -
Brandon took heat because he was not ready to play as a true freshman. Doc should have been the one taking verbal attacks for not redshirting Ubel.

If only Brandon would have redshirted. Imagine Brandon and Gallegos with the talent coming in next year.

Andre just got a foul called on him for being huge. I'm watching a stream of the game. -
Matthew Atewe -> Auburn -> Washington

Good point Tim! And it won't be as important we sign a big man who can score. We are bringing in some prolific scorers next year already. Hopefully Pitchford can score from the low post. We just need defense to replace Brandon and the Brazilian Panda. From what I have seen so far we really can't depend that the Serbian Cigar will be ready by next year!!! -
A chance to see a couple players that have Nebraska ties. I think Vander and Christian should be supported by NU fans. Things didn't work out, but they did choose to come here first.

Matthew Atewe -> Auburn -> Washington
FredsSlacks replied to TheKamdyMan's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
It's important to keep in mind that Atewe is Tim's plan C or D in getting a big man. There have been about 7 or 8 big men that Miles missed out on. Tim's offense is not built around big men, so at this point he is just looking for an active big with a high upside. Atewe has only been playing basketball for about 5 years, which makes his upside high. A lot of teams that are regularly in the tournament have offered Atewe, and Duke has contacted him. That makes me feel confident enough that he can at least play 12 minutes next year off the bench. If Atewe backfires, there's always Sergej. -
He has no ranking on rivals or espn. No D1 offers. How good is he?

That's the most fun Sergej has had all year. -
Bo barely let khiry cooper play baseball. I highly doubt he would allow anyone on the current team to play basketball, and none of the lineman would be in good enough shape to play. I do think that Jamal Turner could contribute more than Peltz.

Oh. Rivals does not have that listed. Might be a good sign that he hasn't signed with KSU 3 months after his visit. -

I agree with this just based on what I've seen on the court. Miles has two senior big men that could be getting a lot more touches on the block, but he is using Andre to set picks up high and having Ubel set picks on the baseline. It would probably be better to have Ubel play around the free throw line and have Andre down on the block, but Miles is not going to run a different offense for 1 year. Pitchford and Atewe Would likely be much better in Miles motion offense because of their athleticism. NU will be able to play more uptempo with Pitchford and Atewe, which is what I think Miles wants to do in the future. I think there is about a 75% chance Atewe is going to be a husker. I don't think Duke is seriously interested, so I hope Atewe is not going to sit around and wait for an offer from them. K State and Marquette are his other top offers, but I think NU has the advantage with him visiting NU first. Location should not be a problem for him since he is from Canada. Nebraska should be able to put together an exciting atmosphere against Wisconsin for his visit. -
Wait till Okafor does Okafor would be a nice consolation prize if we don't get Atewe.
-
Peltz is bound to have a career defining game sooner or later.
-
Not saying Hawkins won't be good, but NU should be pretty stacked at the 1 and 2 next year with parker, gallegos, webster, peltz, and Biggs.
-
I think Fuller has a great chance at starting at the 3 or 4 next year. It may depend on how Miles finishes out this class and how much Fuller grows (Supposedly not done growing). I'm not sure NU has ever had a player like Fuller. Fuller and Webster could be quite the duo for the next 4 years. I'm not sure about Hawkins though. I could see him redshirting.
