Magic just landed Lebron, so I would consider the job Magic has done, to this point, as A++++++++++

It'll be interesting to see how they fill out the roster.  I think trading anyone this season would be quite dumb as Kawhi is coming to LA regardless.

My guess is this upcoming season's roster looks like this:

Tyreke Evans (in talks right now)/Lonzo Ball
    Caldwell-Pope/Josh Hart
    Ingram/Lance Stephenson
    Bron/Kuzma
    McGee/Wagner

^^^ This team can actually match up pretty well with GSW's death squad if you put Kuzma at the 4 and Bron at the 5.  I think they're working with more than most people think.  I think they should definitely let Randle go and pick up Evans with the loot.  Also, watch out for Chris Bosh... rumor has it he's got new blood clot meds.

Nicole Cousins?  I thought I heard Edwards was dating someone out there, speculation that the break up of the relationship was related to him leaving.  Coulda been local medias biggest power couple since Ken Siemeck and Deb Collins.  Or Ken Hambleton and Ryley Jane.  Or Colby Mach and an EIB fleshlight.

Those have to be earned. They aren’t random and they aren’t worthless. Sociology is a science. Not many people could handle the math or suffer the tedium needed to successfully complete a sociological study.  This field has offered great insight into the workings of society and explanations and possible solutions for many disfunctions. I think a great sociological study would be the connection between the susceptibility of people to believe lies and misinformation in this country and the debasing and  unappreciation of science and education  that exist here like no other  developed nation.

Yes, and if he's anything like Bryson, he's also going to be the highest character and hard working kid you can imagine.  It's absolutely criminal that they won't both be in a Husker uni.

I actually had a few people on twitter wondering where Jordy and Watson were.  If you're going to wonder about someone though, how are they doing this WITH NO HEAD COACH?!?!?!?

Wow.  A poster’s 13th post is to trash Bill Moos?!  That’s a new approach.
But that post is incomplete—it leaves out some solid stuff about Kent.
For example, it leaves out this:

    “While at Oregon, Kent led the Ducks to seven postseason appearances, including five NCAA Tournament Appearances (2000, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2008) as well as a Pac-10 regular-season (2002) and  two conference tournament (2003, 2007) titles”;

    “Kent took two Oregon teams to the NCAA Elite Eight (2002 and 2007) and guided the Ducks to the NIT Final Four on two occasions (1999, 2004)”;

”Kent helped produce four NBA First Round Draft selections and became Oregon’s all-time wins leader”; and

“Under Kent’s direction, the Duck men’s basketball team ranked No. 1 amongst Pac-10 schools in the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate several times throughout his head coaching career.”

Let’s stipulate that we don’t want Kent at Nebraska—for good reasons.  But while trashing basketball Moos, let’s at least acknowledge the full picture—part of which is pretty darn good.

Given the upward trajectory of health care costs, it definitely sends a wrong message when hospitals decide to spend $20M+ to plaster their name on the side of a building.  Kinda burns my biscuits even though I know that amount is basically a rounding error in their annual budget.

Well if you're gonna gamble on your career, the mid-20's is the time to do it.  And really, worst case scenario for Shavon is he has to go to med school if this whole basketball thing fizzles out.  Not a bad fall back plan if you ask me!

Fullbacksympathy got a reaction from Handy Johnson in Bigger impact in 18-19?
Harris should be that dude because of what he can do for Allen at the 2.  If Allen allowed to do nothing but shoot long-range daggers at the 2, he's going to be an enormous weapon.  Anton Gill was our X-factor in several wins last year due to his outside shooting and ability to space the floor.  I think TA takes that role to another level this year as an elite B1G shooter.

This team should have unbelievable offensive spacing with Watson, Allen, Palmer, Copeland, and Roby out there.  Good grief.  We can basically take the Golden State (quick ball movement, p&r, transition 3s) OR the Houston (isolation mismatches) approach on any possession.  What's crazy is there are going to be games where 4/5 of those guys (and Amir might be in this camp with his athleticism) can be the initiator of the offense with dribble penetration.  There's almost no doubt that Roby will be our leading rebounder, which also means we're going to be able to run like all hell if he initiates the offense.

It also might be a combo of newcomers that has a big impact defensively.  I love what I'm seeing from Amir's defense on film.  He's more than willing.  We could role out a rangy/handsy defensive lineup with:

    Amir 6'5"
    Thor/Nana/KD 6'5" - 6'6"
    James 6'6"
    Cope 6'9"
    Roby 6'8"

That could be a very pesky zone and switch every single screen against man.

Or you could role out a brutally big lineup and just murder people on the boards with:

    Amir 6'5"
    James 6'6"
    Roby 6'8"
    Cope 6'9"
    Jordy 6'11"

    So many options...

Yeah... I *actually* hate Creighton.  McDermott had a chance to win me over before he endorsed his own dirty players (which would indicate starting a fight with TP was following orders).

I'm fine with Iowa being a conference rival.  I hate their football program.  They annoy me in a similar way that Creighton basketball always has--by reveling in their mediocrity just because Nebraska happens to suck more.  Football will start destroying Iowa every season, probably starting next year.

As for basketball, this isn't 14-15.  We were better than CU last year, outplayed them, and got jobbed by the officials.

We're going to kick their ass this year.  I've never made that claim before.  It's going to be a big deal for the program and Miles.  For TM especially, talk about a benchmark.  I think we'll trade wins with them for years to come after this season, and NU will evolve into a perennial top 40 program similar to CU.

As much as I loathe the B1G conference for football, I absolutely love the conference in basketball.  There are so many good coaches in this league, and all the teams improve throughout the year, so it's hard for me to hate anyone.  I probably dislike Fran the most, though, so that works out well.

A little Off topic and didn’t want to waste space by quoting LK.  He said it is hard to hate anyone because the coaches are so good and teams get better all year.  I agree.  This is why it sucks when conference digs a hole in rpi early in year as it cannot be improved during league and the wins are so much better than the perception.  Exactly why we missed dance last year.

I think your point is a fair one.  I don't dislike Kevin Durant personally (I don't know any athlete well enough to make that claim either way), but when one changes jobs, there are monetary and opportunity costs.  KD's move meant 1.) less money 2.) less respect and 3.) more rings.  He personally found 3 more important than 1 and 2 combined, and that's totally his prerogative.  It was a gamble that really only resulted in a lateral move for his legacy, no matter how many rings he gets with that squad.  He never did enough in the playoffs with OKC to garner Lebron-level respect.

What's interesting now is that, by going back to Cleveland and beating what was statistically the greatest team ever at the time completely vaulted Lebron into GOAT conversations--something Durant basically gave up by joining the team that beat him/was already on the verge of a dynasty.  However, now that Lebron has vaulted himself into legit GOAT talk, he has also shown on the court that he has done everything a human could possibly do in Cleveland's awful organization.  To get to the point that most fans would point to him as the GOAT, he needs to finish with at least three more rings.  The best thing that could've possibly happened to Lebron this season was for the Rockets to lose to GS in 7.  Joining them isn't joining the bad guys, but actually joining the underdog in the west in attempt to slay the Warriors, and I think KD and co's dynasty is about to be over quickly.  The Rockets would be Lebron's best team ever--certainly offensively--and they have the blueprint to beat GS every year with him on the roster.  This is only going to separate Bron from KD even more.  Everyone knows if Lebron gets a supporting cast that equals anything close GSW it's over with.
