  1. LMU, and GW will be sneaky good games that will help are RPI late next season, i dont know what Whichita State or CU have returning, and im not thrilled to see DePaul name in there
  2. I hope they work that smoothly together in the near future random rant...Nick Bahe (who i really just cant stand) profiled Tai Webster while was some was true, it just rubbed me the wrong way, Tai is gonna bring it next year, similar to Jeter i feel like.
  3. Hawkins and Webster together was tremendous
  4. While it sounds nice that had nothing to do with Miles and everything to do with a promise made to Chin to bring out some Chicago kids. Notice not a one has visited NU since he left except for Morrow and thats because he has ties to Lincoln. miles still brought him on staff, after he left, we replaced him with others who have stong recruting capabilites, and have made some considerable inroads, with more top 150 recruits, im just using this IMO to take the oppsitie view of the OP and reflect on the postive steps we've taken.
  5. and not to forget, even though it was only a visit...the #1 recruit in the nation came to NU on a unofficial visit, and liked us for a hot mintue, he isnt coming here, rather going to spend a year at duke but for a split second, and a few weeks, the #1 recruit said we had some top notch attractions. I still like where this ship is headed, it isnt rudderless, and sinking as it was in the last decade.
  6. we landed a top 150 recruit...plus if you consider the production/promise from are last two classes (shields, parker recruits carried over from pervious regime; Hawkins, Webster finding their roles future looks promissing, fuller redshirted, smith huge suprise; and Petteway, and Pitchford transfers) im pretty with are classes, we are active in the top 2015 kids, with the potential for some sleepers in 2014...always look on the postive side...We hosted numerous top 150 recruits, almots snagged the pesky one big man away (ER) and could still get a look from Rustic, if some things dont work out....TM is doing what needs to be done, and i have full faith in what will come GO BIG RED!
  7. Vooch is the one big man who's been here his entire career and we can't even get him on the court to eat up fouls. vooch is an anomoly...an outlier..ill bet money that our staff can help big men out with the progress, Pitch has made in developing in the post on defensive end, and when smith is on, he is smooth...ill take my chances with them developing Sure, Pitchford has gotten better defensively in the post, but he's absolutely awful offensively in the post. The same goes for Rivers. Smith is OK. I don't want this to be a knock on Miles and his staff, I just don't believe we've proven we can develop big men just yet. If they had turned Vooch into a rotational big then I'd agree. I'm just not there yet, though. your expectations are off...Pitch will never..i repeat NEVER be a back to basket post player... Billy Donovan knew that the minute, he stepped onto Florida's campus, Miles knew this the second he was at NU, Rivers as i pretty decent midrange, game at the 4 spot, if your expectations are for them to be back to the basket frontcourt players, than of course it looks like we cant develop big men, but if you come from the aspect, that these are evolved post players, with the post is extended 15-20 out in some cases for pitch, and rivers, and on defense they are head and shoulders from what they were to begin the season, than that is the expectation we should have.
  8. 9. I don't agree with that. Hawkins is awful on defense. Not to pick on the kid for playing his heart out. At least Ray can play defense, and if Petteway, Shields, and Pitchford are in at the same time, we have enough scorers to get an off night from Ray. at the same time...if rey isnt making shots, he is a mismatch on d against bigger defenders, espicially with benny in at the same time, and its gives one scorer on the court at times, and isnt a reliable ball handler, at least hawkins can hit shot, play average defense and can be a secondary ball handler
  10. i like Hawkins shot, he seems confident and form wise it looks clean, between him and fuller, and if tai (good form, has history of being strong shooter, lacks confidence), and fuller we will have dead shooters next year. i really respect that Parker, and Rivers have begun to find their range, 15-20 feet, and last two games find their comfort, parker dosnt like the 3, so he steps in 2 feet takes a two, not a statistical analysts favorite shot, but at least he likes it, and is willing to shoot making defenses honest.
  11. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXpxIGhzk_A very cool This post has been promoted to an article
  12. Does Arizona have room for him? I don't know specifics on Arizona but it sounds like they might have some early departures for the NBA. has anyone told him about the cactus tornado's they get, and the millions of chupracabra lurking around Arizona waiting to eat people...perhaps we should..
  13. i like how you can tell, fans have gotten used to, it there where a couple of plays, and passes were any gym in NE would go nuts, and they just like ho hum, he's only getting warmed up
  14. Ralston's Mayor openly discussed that possibility of the D-League coming to fruition in the Big O for the Denver franchise... apparently a little too hastily as it didn't come to pass for their new arena in Ralston. yea, i remeber that, hopefully, when they expand it becomes a discussion again.
  15. nathan as a great frame, offenseive footwork looks pretty good (i.e. how he moves with ball, feet placement on shot, the necessary quick movements needed) i think as TCP said it could be more lack of mental prepardness, and just a lack of physical readiness. an offseason will do him wonders, as i imagine, fuller will come back ready to contribute. So far S&C staff have done amazing things, with the nautraul talent, of our current players, i cant wait and see what they do with Webster, Fuller, and Hawkins.
  16. a little OT but, great feature, on Grantland.com about the D-League, with some talk about expansion to all NBA teams having a d-league team, and the NBA wanting said team to be within driving distance or reasonble travel, maybe Omaha, can get a team for either Denver, Minnesota, or Chicago to play in the Ralston Arena, once UNO leaves...just a hope and a thought, i miss semi pro basketball in NE,i can remember going to Racers gmaes http://grantland.com/the-triangle/doing-development-the-right-way-a-look-at-four-model-d-league-teams/ http://grantland.com/features/nba-dleague-rgv-vipers-houston-rockets-future-of-basketball/
  17. - Benny Parker may not win Game MVP but his play Raised us up, and demoralized Purdue. - Shavon and Terran and gelling right now, and its beautiful they are starting compliment each other so well. - We didnt need it, but id still like to see Pitch intiate more dribble drive action on other big men. - Hammonds, looked just absolutly disinterested in being in Lincoln, NE; having the same temprament, and passion for basketball as Andrew Bynum is not a good thing. -Liked Hawkins stroke, and aggresiveness, he, and Benny's performance play neutralized Tai fould trouble. - I love our confidence right now, continue it next week boys!
  18. ... the lakers, and 76ers can use some help scoring right now..
  19. anyway we can print this chart off, and disperse it around the arena.
  20. so about those repairs they fans argue are not needed at IU...
  21. is this suppose to be something? That is where you and I disagree very much, It gives us CONTROL of our Schedule. We gave up to much CONTROL by playing a tourney like the SCC. It was to much to early. We Played Western ILL who went to the SBI, so your point is moot. We play them there and we still have CONTROL of our schedule. Lets make a mock bracket, We won against Western ILL. UTEP played Denver in the championship and won. Ok we play UTEP in the Championship. I think we win that. We are the Champions of the SBI. A title and something to build on. I think the DHC is the right tournament for this team next year. Control of our non-con is the KEY to the BIG dance If recruiting were the only incentive then you have a point, but I think we have more to offer, Winnable match ups againt a team with a tough conference schedule on TV? that is what we offer. Come on we do this when we look for match ups. It works in reverse. All you have to do go to CBSsports.com com and look at the teams that made it the last 3 or 4 years as invites. Look at the pattern. We follow that and we get in. That is what I am basing my arguments on. STOP QUOTING IN THE QUOTE MARGIN!
